  • Normally I don't drop a Thursday video right after starting a month of themed videos . . . but normally Daniel Warren Johnson does write Transformers, so this is new for us both. Transformers #1, out from Skybound Studios/Image Comics, we've a brand new era of Transformers and a beginning. Should you Transform and Roll Out to your nearest shop to pick this up or is the issue All Spark, No Heart? Here are my thoughts.

I really really appreciate your high level of writing ability and introspection! Please keep them coming I know with a family and two small children you mentioned your time is ( obviously) limited but the fact your tastes and experiences are so wide ranging as you said TH-cam has placed so many hobbyists in touch with other hobbyists worldwide and they share thier experiences ideals tastes and collection . I really love your appreciation for the DC Absolutes - highest one thus far pricewise is Grant Morrison Arkham Asylum run with the dream state artwork . I noticed you were wearing Omar’s Gem Mint channel he has many contacts and we always dream that there are SO MANY DC Absolutes never printed before - could you imagine a Batman Blood Rain Absolute ???

I always try to take some time every day to respond to comments. If someone's going to take the time to write something to me, the least I can do is respond. Omar's a buddy of mine, I've been a moderator on the Near Mint Condition TH-cam Channel and Discord for a few years now, he's a big inspiration for the videos I do. And I'm actually a noed Grant Morrison hater, love Face McKean's art but Absolute Arkham isn't one I'm trying to own, but more power to those that like it!

I figured it was the most Transformers thing I could play. Had to play something DWJ would appreciate

Honestly the Invisibles is tailored to students of comparative religion the Occult Hinduism, well all world religions oh yes Voodoo as well I must mention John Constantine maybe you’ll like it maybe not it’s an acquired taste and also helps to be familiar with comparative religion the occult etc .

So far, this series is off to a pretty surprising start!
DWJ knows what he is doing.
I have never been able to stick with a Transformers series for long, but I am going to try due to his involvement.

I'm never not going to read a DWJ book, so even though I've never read a Transformers comic, I'm absolutely adding this to the pull list as long as DWJ is on the title. Not sure that it'll stay after that, but it's already the most I've ever read a Transformers series!

This was a top notch first issue! You can tell DWJ puts so much of himself in his titles

Most definitely I loved Dead Orbit didn’t know it was hard to find but makes sense when you try to find a hardback Dark Horse Aliens or Predator with Space Jockey engineers ( Prometheus film 2012) I have all the Dark Horse Aliens from the 90s helped me get thru tough life times so did the neglected Predator comics they were like watching the Jerry Springer show . Of course Spawn was the biggest for me in those days I have most of the first 150 issues they’re no valuable more of a record of my time and $$$ spent .

Love when comics can give you that strong connection to a particular point in your life. Being able to open a book and be instantly transported back to a particular moment in time, good or bad, there's nothing like it. It's like the smell of a dish you haven't had since you were a kid, just transports you.

Yes to your point I’m completely aghast over Dark Horse Aliens and Predator line but Marvel now runs the Alien franchise they’re doing a wonderful job sustaining the Weyland corporation as evil incarnate much more than the “biologically pure “ xenomorphs . I bought two hardcover transforms titles from Amazon last year they were 50% off had bright ink colors but honestly the story was DOA Dead On Arrival . The Transformers film franchise and Micheal Bay are just far too grandiose BUT I did enjoy BumbleBee from two or three years ago it was released in the winter season and didn’t have the summer “blockbuster “ stink about it .

I haven't checked out the "new" Aliens title from Marvel yet, but it had Philip Kennedy Johnson it at launch and I generally really like his stuff. Did you get a chance to read Alien: Dead Orbit from James Stokoe from about 5 years ago? Stokoe is one of my favorite talents working right now, the story came out from Dark Horse so it's a little hard to find on its own but it's in one of the Marvel Aliens omnibus reprints, vol 4 I think. Really great art in that one

I assume this is a standalone? Or connected to anything that came before (storyline-wise)? Also, how many issues will this be in total?

So far, this is spinning out of "Void Rivals", which revealed that Robert Kirkman's Skybound imprint from Image Comics had acquired the license for GI Joe and Transformers.
Joshua Williamson will be writing both "Duke" and "Cobra Commander", two miniseries that will presumably lead into a "GI Joe" series at some point.
"Transformers" is set to be an ongoing series, with Daniel Warren Johnson sticking around as long as he wants.
"Void Rivals" is also ongoing and is written by Kirkman.
So far, this "Energon" universe is off to a great start.
I'm surprised by some of the choices already made.
