Well, no. That would be the El Cap plus the DM-2 plus DMM plus Rubberneck, Echoplex... ad infinitum. No such thing as too many delays. Or flangers, for that matter.
I've always loved the opening riff on the Switchfoot song "Mess of Me" and that's that left side of the Bun Runner all day. It's such a nasty fuzz, I love it.
I actually own the ‘73 Ram’s Head in the grey color scheme and had no idea how rare it was. I’m a huge David Gilmour fan and jumped on the opportunity to own a JHS circuit based off the original. The back of the pedal says #19 so it looks like I got one of the last ones produced. Oddly enough I was going to gift this my brother a few years back after I purchased a Muffuletta. Glad I didn’t.
1. Pleeeeese bring back the Banana rocket. 2. Did you get the pedal you were trying to trade for for the 73 rams head and what was it? 3. Thank you, love these videos and always look forward to them.
Just played a show with Switchfoot Saturday. My god that dude is good. And super tasteful with his effects. I meant to get a picture of his setup because it was crazy cool.
Man I luvs me some switchfoot! Fakeyfoot! And drew is certainly a monster. Their live shows are just packed with energy every time. And I didn't know Josh was from Muscle Shoals. That could explain a lot. Some serious tone, players, music, etc...came out of that swamp.
I remember a friend of mine that I play in a band with once picked up a Bun Runner and he used that for a long time, that was the main fuzz he used when we played live and he really liked the Tone Bender side
It never ceases to amaze me how many influential people in today's world of music were born and raised in Alabama... the list is very long and growing!
Hey Josh if you ever read this I have quite a extensive handpainted collection of JHS pedals and have been scooping up original models of your pedals over the entire pandemic. I've amassed quite a collection and just wanna say I love your stuff and I'm always hunting for fun one offs or crazy crazy stuff like that damn Giant calculator pedal you apparently made for a store front as a joke lol love it all. Can't wait for any new pedals coming out!
I feel you! My problem is that I like to buy early JHS pedals too, but I make pedals and some are so close (not clones, just close tonally) that I can’t justify the high prices of the early JHS stuff now. Had a chance at a super early banana boost that would have been great for the collection but not for the board. Still have regrets over that lol and I make something very close sounding but probably a completely different circuit. The rabbit 🐇 hole 🕳 is deep
I pumped the brakes to let all y’all know that Justin is likely the holder of the largest quantity of rare handpainted JHS pedals. As the former “worlds most emotionally invested JHS pedal collector” I am confident that my friend Justin here reigns supreme over all yer @$$€$. Couldn’t be a better guy either!
Apart from the great content, I stop these videos at certain points to try to spot pedals on the wall that I own. Like pedal bingo. Today was Pigtronyx Disnortion 30:00 Excellent vid, thanks guys.
I’ve had a few of those over the years. I still have and love my firefly fuzz. It was immediately the best tone bender for touring when it came out. The bias could dial in my fuzz no matter what the stage temperature was. Always on the live pedalboard and I have the box. Of course, I have the boxes for almost all my pedals because I have a problem…
I might have the most rare banana boost...? Some guy I bought it off in Dallas got it in a custom enclosure from you guys. Silver body with yellow knobs and no banana. JHS on the side. If that counts as rare. I don't know.
Holy balls I miss my Bun Runner. That thing was on all of my boards for a few years. It does all the gnarly fuzzes. I had most of these minus the Pink Panther, the Ram's Head and the Klon. I also forgot how gorgeous the OG Panther sounded
You guys need to do more MINI PEDALS! Reissue the Banana Boost and then release a new set of mini pedals! The Fuzz Foot and the Tidewater Tremolo are amazing and I have limited real estate on my pedal board.
I remember someone from my church getting one of the silver klon clones from you, and hating it. hahaha I never played it. I'm sure it was fine. I also remember playing my friend's very early Panther with the loop. We played my line 6 verbzilla on the octo shimmer mode in the loop of that one day. Amazing. The darker than DMM repeats paired super well with that shimmery bright stuff.
Excellent episode! Hours afterwards I found a Banana Boost and very carefully opened it up to see what was inside. Serial #54! I was stoked. It may not be a printed version, but that seems very rare. It's dated 6-21-11, and the signature on the top and bottom of the case is B&M, and there is also what looks like additional initials of ZW. Serial # on the circuitboard is 800-01007-1. Thanks for all of the great pedals, episodes and information!
Lol "Reverse grilling a steak..." You know it's good when Josh not only just laughs, but has to think about it for a second and has nothing to come back with haha, that was gold Nick.
My wife’s bass pedalboard is a pandamonium volume pedal and tuner. People are constantly complimenting her tone. I wish it was still available to recommend to other players.
Great video!!! As someone who is interested in building pedals but doesn't know where to start, I would love to see a video about the basics of pedal making pedal circuits or even how to breadboard effects! Keep up the good work!
Yinz are gonna have to get the mini banana now! Someone “randomly” purchased our last Banana boost today. My heart still breaks over the Roland BeeBaa prices, but there was practically a bidding war over a pedal that sat dead quiet for 6 months. The wild rollercoaster (or 90s rollerblade?) ride of the guitar gear market just might be to much for me!
@@jasontwatkins8278 It is actually spelled 'Yins" as in "Yins can try, but it only sounds authentic if your parents are from Pittsburgh" - Allegheny Co. Jail
Tomorrow never knows is the song of the beatles of the future. The Argentinian Singer Pedro Aznar made a cover with the original idea of John... so he recorded the voice hanging from the ceiling and sorrounded by mics.
Yes, I would buy a banana boost, but of the two on the table, I like the one that was placed below the other. You know, the one with the actual banana color and thin line on the graphic. Love it with the green dials.
The Panther seems like my Digitech PDS 20/20, but with tap tempo, analog vs digital, effects loop... holy moly. It's like an amp: so much engineering in one box. Who needs this? I don't know, but I kinda want it.
Recently picked up a stamped Charlie Brown V3 #146 with NDL written on the backplate and I have no intentions of removing it from my board anytime soon
Dude when you turned on the banana boost I thought “Aw man, sure wish that one was still around” And then you asked So yes love it I will buy it if you make it even though I have a boost that I need to fix 🤟🏼
I had sought out the 'Clean Banana' 🍌 boost. Probably, bought the last brand new one, a few years ago. Thought the dark logo banana, look 'stale'. 😄 Yes, it works great! ❤️ It was a tough find. 😎🇺🇸🍌
ask your wife if she remembers the morning show in Tupelo with Buddy and Kay Bain, They had a morning show for about 40 yrs or so. Did the weather but always played music and had special guest. they cut about 30 albums in nashville, They go way way back,.. I play lead in my band . my cousin Tony,Uncle Buddys son. plays in a fusion band. he is in Tupelo i am in Knoxville Tn. and by far you are our favorite pedal builder, Its the quality . We love it, Thanks for all the work, Your pedals are making History with us !!!!!!
thanks for turning me on to the idea of using a klon on bass. i never would have thought to try it but yeah - it makes the bass jump out of the mix - sounds good so far so we are gonna try it live . i asked Addison some months back and finally got around to trying one of our klon clones that i built in front of a zoom B1on and its a great versatile pedal for the bass guitar.
The jam with the pink panther v1 to me sounded very like U2, nice riff and the pedal sounded great. The full range of pedals sound great, the 73 Rams head with delay sounded stunning and I’m not a massive lover of fuzzzzz, but I think you’ve just got me liking them more and I might have to pick one up, shame I probably won’t be able to get an actual 73 Rams head. I’ve been saving for a Morning Glory for quite a while now as it’s a definite must have pedal for me, cash is very tight for me at present but even if it takes me 10yrs to save the cash to get one then I’ll definitely do it, I’m not gonna buy any other pedals until I can afford to get a Morning Glory I want and need one so much, it’s the one pedal I’ve heard after lots of research that will totally suit my guitar style and just what I need for my band, it will be perfect, I might be 80yrs old when I’ve got the cash for one but even if I have to play on stage with a Zimmer frame to play with a Morning Glory it’ll happen one day. I love JHS pedals and your show, All the best to all at JHS, many thanks Steve.
Me knowing that I might not be able to own any of these, just being here watching, soaking in the information that I might forget in a month and just enjoying the jams. Gotta say, the Bun Runner and Silver Panther sounds great.
I have the OG Banana boost 🍌 🚀 very sweet and great for Smoothie tones 😂 (oh pedal humor) but for real is a great boost! BRING IT BACK JOSH for some RIPE TONES

I would totally buy a State Line with a Morning Glory V4 in it. I am a little surprised this doesn’t exist now considering how many dual drives are out there
I'd pay anything to get my hands on a banana boost. It's probably my favorite pedal on this episode & it sucks that when they made it I was just learning guitar at the time
I have all of these pedals. Thank you for increasing my net worth 10x.
May I have your address and when you'll be out of the house? Purely for research purposes, you understand...

That v2 Panther may have been hard to build, but it’s pretty much an “everything you want in a delay, plus more” kind of pedal.
Well, no. That would be the El Cap plus the DM-2 plus DMM plus Rubberneck, Echoplex... ad infinitum. No such thing as too many delays. Or flangers, for that matter.
Its definitely an everything I want lol, cant speak for anyone else, but I'm with joe on this one
I bought a 1.5 and I prefer it because it's bigger, so my big feet don't get in the way of tap tempo
Drew Shirley has the feedback looper and has used it as recently as 2019! It’s in a rig rundown!
I’m rebuilding my pedalboard and haven’t settled on a boost. A mini banana boost would be wonderful. There’s always money in the banana stand.

Possibly my favorite episode yet. Glad to learn more about some of JHS stuff, and DAMN those jams were fun.
The “Not Tom Petty” jam made me feel quite emotional for a moment, you nailed that tone.
I laughed pretty hard with enjoyment. Once the groove sets in its almost like it drives the fingers to respect the TP tone.
Revolver is my favorite album of all time. Good choice Nick!

I love my jhs 808, I don’t know why, but it sounded better than my bonsai, so I kept it and sold the bonsai. I use to run it at 18v (now 12v)
