Such an underappreciated film and it was way ahead of it's time. I saw this in the theater with a group of my co-workers (one of whom was gay) and we had the best time. I remember liking how respectful this film and "The Birdcage" were of that community which was not always the norm in Hollywood. Cheers, Mum.

This is a hilarious movie. Those three straight men really pulled off the drag queen thing incredibly well. To me the funniest of them was Wesley Snipes. Who knew he could do sich a great job in a comedy & as a drag queen. His lines were hilarious and i loved the scenes between him and Clara. That was sweet. Great reaction as usual. You're awesome.

I love another Patrick Swayze film ... don't hear many people talk about it: 'Keeping Mum' with Maggie Smith (Professor McGonagall), Kristin Scott Thomas and Rowan Atkinson. I think you'd love it! Plot: "Walter Goodfellow, a vicar, is so busy composing an ideal sermon that he doesn't realise that his family needs him badly. However, things take a turn with the arrival of his new housekeeper." Sounds boring lol but a such a fun black comedy that doesn't take itself too seriously.

It doesn't say where Snydersville is, but it was filmed in Loma, Nebraska. The town is even smaller now. There is a deleted scene on the DVD where they break down earlier in the trip and almost get rear-ended by a truck. Cars starts just in time.

I think it's kind of an assumption that the people who seem to be the most homophobic, are that way because they are reacting to feelings they have deep inside that they can't bring themselves to deal with. This seems to be what Sherriff Dullard (it's a misprint!) is going through at the bar. His monologue represents that internal struggle that people like him tend to have.

I think with the cop it was showing that he actually had tendencies of being attracted to men, but instead of embracing them, he further repressed them and then proceeded to lash out towards the drag queens as many closeted people lash out towards queer people, since they don't feel that they can embrace who they are and be open and out, so no one else should be able to either, in their minds.
