Thank you, the auger in my refrigerator's ice maker has broken into pieces. My issue is, my ice cubes somehow slightly thaw and then refreeze. They then become these large blocks of ice, and they will not go through the auger. My freezer is set a zero F, so they should not melt but they do. I use the ice maker daily in small amounts. Do you have any suggestions on how to prevent this from happening? Thank you.
Hello we have a Kenmore side by side refrigerator(2009), it has a single dispenser for ice and water. We are making ice but cannot get water or ice coming out of the dispenser. We replaced the switch for the lever, we replaced the sileniod valve as well and the screw does not turn on the ice dispenser and of course we cannot dispense either. Other than that the fridge was works great.
My issue is that the machine dispenses crushed ice but not cubes. The auger coupler will only spin when the machine is set to dispense crushed ice. Does this mean I need to replace the motor itself or does this sound like a problem with the control board?
@@appliancepartspros Motor turns the auger, right? switch kicks the motor, auger turns, ice comes out and immediately stops. Meanwhile, I finally pulled the ice basket assym in order to fully inspect for obstruction such as iceball not worthy of this operation. The bed of the hopper is broken. Yes, we've been using store bought ice. Thanks. I suppose I'll start there. Get the actual icemaker going again. First, the RO sys to be redone so stop using store ice...ya know?
I have a Whirlpool side by side model ED55HAXMQ10. All 6 reasons shown have been covered, all good and I still do not dispense ice. I suspect a bad auger motor but not sure how to get to it. Also, as a test, should the auger turn with the ice bin removed and the switch activated? Do you have a video for any of this?
Unfortunately, the model number you provided is not pulling up as a valid model number, so I'm not able to find any information for that unit specifically. But you should hear the auger motor come on when you push the button to get ice. If you don't hear the motor running, then you will need to test for power to the motor. If you have power there and it's not coming on then you will need to replace the motor. If the auger motor is running, then check the auger for any damage that could be causing it to not turn. You can call us at 1-877-477-7278 if you need more troubleshooting.
@appliancepartspros sorry about this. It looks like I transposed the model number. Here is the correct number. ED5SHAXMQ10. I need to know how to get to the auger motor and replace it. Thank you.
Thank you for that information. Unfortunately, it does look like that part is no longer manufactured. That part number is W11170227. You can check around to see if anyone still has that in stock. I think it's my auger motor is there suppose to be tension in the metal piece in the back of the fridge my spins freely with no tension. I hear no sound coming from the motors at all.
I think my Dispenser Arm is broke. Mine looks like your first example. Is there suppose to be 2 of the little white things on the bottom or just 1. Sometimes it works if I hold the the glass and keep tapping the ice dospense button but mostly is wont come on the motor does run......is there suppose to be 2 metal pieces or 1?
Yeah, that doesn't make sense. Also the video focuses on problems you need to buy parts to fix. The first thing people should really check is whether there's a piece of ice caught in the gears! No parts needed!
Noticed rust blisters below outside frame of ice dispenser on outside of door. Ice machine was dispensing very slowly, not not at all. Unit is like 10+yrs old. Can rust on door be fixed? Or is it worth fixing?
I tested the ice chute flap switch and the solenoid, and they have continuity. The auger motor in my old GE Profile dispenser kicks in for 1/2 second and stops. The flap does not open. Start-stop cycle repeats in sync with the digital display lighting up and going dark. Is it safe to assume the main circuit board is bad?
Well, watch it to the end as he got closer and closer to my problem then BOOM! The part where he was supposed to tell me about my issue he switched to cleaning the condenser coils.
I have an Amana french door refrigerator; it is not even a year old and the ice machine will not dispense. The freezer light bulb cover will not come either; the bulb needs to be replaced. I bought the fridge last year in June.
I have a Maytag refrigerator that won’t dispense ice. I’ve replaced the auger motor and both roller switches to no avail. I even removed the front control panel thinking there was a micro switch which I had planned to replace, but my model doesn’t seem to have one. The refrigerator will dispense water, but when the ice button is depressed it just makes a clicking sound and the auger motor doesn’t turn. Any idea what it might be?
I hope you are still monitoring the comments to this. The problem we have (with a Frigidaire Gallery refrigerator) is that ice cubes jam in the dispenser funnel. There are two things that seem to cause this. First, the length of the "cubes" is longer than the widest width of the funnel. Second, the "cubes" do not break apart after they drop out of the ice-maker. In both situations the funnel becomes plugged while ice is still being dumped into it, then the malfunction alarm goes off and won't stop until the jam is cleared. That is hardly ever easy to do, since "cubes" become wedged between the bottom of the funnel and the flapper. It seems, either the cube-maker should make short cubes, or the funnel should be wider. Is there a fix for this?
Follow-up; I finally figured out where the set-screw for flow control was (near the on-off toggle) and was able to adjust the flow so that the "cubes" were both smaller and broke apart easier, thus no more jams.
My Ge refrigerator won’t make dispenser water or ice , I have been replaced housing shield, solenoid, water intel wave . I need help now , whose have ideas?????
I have a removable ice try with the motor in the back of the freezer. The arm lifts and engages and the arm on the motor component rotates but does not engage the plastic piece on the back of the ice bin which doesn't rotate and release ice. Do I need to replace the plastic piece on the back of the ice bin? Obviously it's impossible to see how the plastic piece fits against the motor compartment. I have a Whirlpool model # ED5PVEXVS00.
I have the exact same issue with my Frigidaire LGHC2342LF1. Wish we were able to upload pics to youtube threads. That arm that controls that little stop isn't all that important though and I ended up just disconnecting that metal arm so the ice just falls out of the bin. I'm sure we would find the issue (like a dead solenoid) if we took that back plate that contains the motor apart, but I always like to watch videos from pros before I do that sort of thing. However, I haven't found a video that dealt with this issue. Suburban problems take up a serious amount of time to resolve....
Resistance check isn't always conclusive if resistance check ok it doesn't mean the part is ok part may still fail under load but if resistance check bad part is definitely bad .
You will need to check the bin to see if there is ice build up around the auger that could be causing it to not dispense. Also, check the auger to make sure it's not damaged or worn so it won't rotate. If that is good you will need to test for power to the auger motor, if you are getting power there and it's not coming on or rotating the auger then you will need to replace the motor.
I hear the motor moving but thumping. It seems when i pull the ice bucket off the door from my Kenmore Elite the gear can move up and down. It seems when under load it pops in and out of mesh with the gear in the ice dispenser. What causes that?
According to our calls at the time, that wasn't one of the top 6 reasons. However, we do have several videos on replacing that part. Apologies for not covering it.
