My Honda CR-V is 10 years old this June, only got 40k on the clock, it’s diesel & it’s only had a new battery, brakes & tyres. Love it & its reliability, hubby keeps wanting me to swap it, but nope! He has a hybrid Lexus RX450, it’s beautiful, also cream leather, but I’m sticking with my diesel 😂 Happy driving in your new car, looking forward to your adventures 😊
The Honda reliability was one big factor in making it hard to choose. We had a Honda Pilot for 15 years with no issues, if they made a hybrid one that would have been the car
When Steve retired we bought a top of the range Kia and went down to one car. It was just over a year old and had 7,500 miles on it. As we don't do much driving we settled for a petrol. It's our first automatic. Love it. Your car looks lovely. Enjoy ❤
Like the car, looks a nice car all round and will hopefully give you everything you need it to. Agree that the front looks a lot like the Range Rover Evoque, but that’s not a bad thing 😉 Have a good weekend both
Love the car 😍I’m just looking to renew my Motability car, have a qashqai at the moment and love it. It has the same boot opening perk which is so convenient and the heads up display is fantastic! Was gonna renew to a Tuscon but have been outpriced so looking at an EV now. Happy future travels 🚙 x
So glad you got the Outlander. I have had one for 2 years and absolutely love it. We are lucky enough here in Australia though to have plenty of dealerships. You will love driving it. 😊Enjoy!
Your car looks lovely …I had the same worries as you with an EV , so last September I bought a self charging hybrid .. a Renault Captur E Tech … and I love it ..I live in a flat so no worries about charging …perfect for running about the island where I live (Jersey) and was fabulous to drive when I took it to UK in October … no worries about charging points whilst staying with friends
We had the Outlander as our rental car when we were in Orlando in April. It was the standard petrol version and really enjoyed driving it, a solid and safe feeling car.
I like the video and like the car. The lettering in my mind looks like that from a range rover/discovery which is bot a bad thing in my mind. I look forward to seeing how you both get on with it. Thanks for educating us!
Our rental car in Florida last January was an outlander and my husband loved driving it. I drive a BMW hybrid over here mostly on the electric unless we go on a long journey, just a warning about the app my BM has been switching on the heaters and draining the battery even though I had not set it too. The dealership have checked it out twice now and can find no reason for it so just keep an eye mine just does it when it feels like it I only know when I go to use it and the battery is right down.
That’s not good , I hope you get that sorted. I was worried about drain on ours , but we have left it well over a week and when we got back the battery was still full
Ayup Bazza, Good choice i have the same model safety Exceed with 2.4ltr engine in the UK practically drives its self one bit of advice get a home charger installed and condition the AC while charging as it will eat up the milage in the drive battery looking forward to the road trip😊
Hello. We had a petrol Outlander as a rental when we came to Orlando last September through Alamo. Was a lovely car. My dad has the Nissan X-Trail in the UK which is a e-power model. This is the UK version of the Rogue. Enjoy both of you, will be a lot better for your road trips
Lovely car. Happy motoring in it. Our next move is to go down to one car. We have no real need for two cars now but its kind of hard to make the final decision.
Ayup bazza, great choice i have the equivalent model in the uk virtually drives its self mine has the regen paddles on the steering wheel ,one bit of advice would be to get a charger installed at home and condition it while charging ie. AC this will help the drive battery efficiency also if Max finds it little high getting in and out you can get side steps for it a quick DIY fix
We love our new Ford Hybrid Kuga plug in which gives us 50 miles to the gallon as the first 30 miles come from plug in and it then feeds extra while you are driving
I am like you Maxine I love the camera so you can see when parking and I like the way our boot opens with a button on the key. We also saved £13000 by buying a year old car with 14000 miles on the clock.
Very nice looking vehicle. And it all makes perfect sense. I am with Maxine, I do not want a black interior. Not fun in hot climates. I did have a Jeep with remote access via an App for cooling and heating (Northern California). It was wonderful. Have had a Honda CRV (fully loaded) for 7 years now and I love it. But 6 months after I bought it (new) they brought out the Hybrid which I was bummed about. Work should be starting any day on our new solar roof (not panels) with battery storage (not Tesla). Despite that we are not committing to EVs. Husband will get one but we plan to keep the gas CRV for a couple more years then switch to a hybrid. Your road trip in the Tesla was extremely helpful in seeing the challenges. A friend of a friend did an EV (Tesla) journey from our area up to Portland Oregon, about 650 miles. He flew home and paid for it to be shipped back saying never again - he couldn’t take all the charging stops and range anxiety.
We had an Outlander PHEV and loved it, best car we ever owned! Agree about it being wobbly though - going over the Thelwall Viaduct always felt a bit like a white knuckle ride!
I have a Tesla and any longish trips I do I just put the destination in and let it choose where and when to charge, that gets rid of a lot of the anxiety, though I appreciate the issues you had with the car on your road trip, I think what happened there is pretty unusual, I’m on a few Tesla groups/forums and I can’t say I’ve heard that happen before. Of course a bit different in the UK as well as 1000 mile road trip is pretty unlikely as well, though I know plenty of Tesla owners that have driven across Europe. I don’t really do long UK road trips and can charge at home so the Tesla is pretty perfect for that. We now get the cars from Shanghai which are considerably better quality than the original US made cars. Hope all goes well with your new car, personally I’m super convinced with hybrids, I haven’t seen first hand but you have electrical system alongside the ICE, and you basically create a lot more maintenance and a lot more things to go wrong. EVs also get a bad wrap for fires, but if you look at stats, hybrids have much more fires than ICE cars, and EVs actually have considerably less than both
I think Europe and the UK are far better positioned for EV’s than the USA just due to the longer distances we travel and the lack of charging infrastructure for such a big country
We rented a hybrid when we went home in May, we had a Jeep Compass, lovely car, can’t get them here, we asked about them at theJeep dealer, so we still have our Durango, need for speed we have a corvette, lol
Did u try a Volvo hybrid? Not the plug in one but they do have ones that are fast and the change from battery to gas and vice versa is really smooth. Also very comfortable luxury car. I’m looking at the S60 myself.
Mrs Bazza the queen of speed lol Personally I can’t see electric cars ever really working, too many people travel long distance they need peace of mind. Interesting to hear your thoughts
Once battery technology can get you 400miles without needing to charge it would work in the USA. Typically today the real range is 160 miles on the motorway
We had the same experience over here in the UK with charging, changed our EV to a Hybrid after 18 months, could write a book re charging problems. Our car is a self charging hybrid - does the outlander self charge as well as plug in?
Nice car Bazza but do you remember when we suburbanites all bought cars and only farmers bought these huge things , even in the states going back 20/30 years it was all Toyota Camry’s , Corolla’s and mustangs. No wonder our mpg is crap now we are all pulling tanks (I know I’m a hypocrite I have a Skoda Kodiaq)😂
I had to get a hire car when my car broke down before I needed to do a trip to Bristol university. They accidentally gave me a hybrid without telling me😮. The boot was a lot smaller which was a nightmare because I was dropping my son and all his stuff off to live there. That said my petrol bill was half of what I normally pay! I’m actually looking at a hybrid for my next car.😊. I also got a plug in hybrid (same car broke down before another trip to Bristol. Good old Seat!). I could not get that thing to charge 😂. So I personally wouldn’t get a plug in again. 😅. Loved the hybrid though 😊 edit….lovely car you choose! 😍
Very, very nice! Such a shame that the US haven't yet sorted a reliable EV charging network. Here in the UK (Midlands) we are a 2-EV family, no home-charging and we love the EV life. Admittedly, our idea of a road-trip is way shorter than yours, although we have done, Scotland, Cornwall and even The Netherlands without any problems. Anyway enjoy the new motor (just make sure no local "jokers" stick a T on the end of the make 😊
It's the longer distances and lack of chargers in the USA that make it a challenge. With a real world motorway range of about 150 miles that's 7 stops of 20-30 minutes on a 1000 mile trip
6 year EV owner, Model S, Model 3, now the fantastic Scenic which does 370 miles in summer. Would never go back to petrol. As you know petrol is v expensive here, and I can fully charge my Scenic for £7.

Guess you never heard of a lease, EV cars have an amazing lease deal and all the cars can now use Tesla chargers, I got a Nissan aryia a BB d gets 330 miles to a charge and set destination and it finds was ll the Tesla chargers
I hate to say this ... besides Mitsubishi, Nissan is the least reliable Japanese cars. Now, you have gotten a combo car of the two least reliable Japanese automotive company.
Hi Barry. It’s the uk equivalent of the XTrail rather than the smaller Qashqai. Very nice choice, although like Mrs Bazza, I miss my Murano. Unfortunately they don’t do the new version here now.
Pleased you changed your car here in U.K. they are still trying to force us to have them. My question is you live in a street no parking space you take what you get so where do you charge your car up at, can’t knock on a strangers door n ask to plug-in, can you? NO
Have had an EV (not a Tesla) in the UK for 4 years and live in a street with no off street or assigned parking spaces. I charge mainly at work these days, but have used chargers at Tesco, McDonalds, retail park, Ikea, etc. Doing round trips of 400+ miles to Scotland also not a problem. I get bladder anxiety long before the car needs to charge. I started getting free charging at work last year and use apps and/or subscriptions to reduce costs on road trips. My servicing bill compared to my old diesel is less than half. Easily the best car I have owned in 34 years of driving. So smooth and nippy and being able to cool or warm the car from the app is brilliant. There are also apps here in the UK that allow EV owners to share their home charger with those who can’t charge at home, so you can pre arrange to knock on a nearby stranger’s door and charge.
My Honda CR-V is 10 years old this June, only got 40k on the clock, it’s diesel & it’s only had a new battery, brakes & tyres. Love it & its reliability, hubby keeps wanting me to swap it, but nope! Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed the video Barry
Lovely car looks very comfortable. I'm looking forward to seeing how it does on your road trip .

Agree that the front looks a lot like the Range Rover Evoque, but that’s not a bad thing 😉
Have a good weekend both

We did about 3 months research to eventually decide on the car

Yes , a few had noted the similarity to the range rover
Love the car at least on the road trip you won’t have to worry. Happy New Year to you both xxx
Range anxiety is real on long US road trips
I love your choice. I hope you are still enjoying it. It's beautiful.
Thank you! We are!

Nice ride. I've never once thought of owning an EV. Too afraid of running out of juice in the middle of nowhere.
We had the same concerns, that why we went plug in hybrid. As long as there is a petrol station you are never out of juice
Nice! 👍🏻👍🏻
