I don't want to sound extreme, but this song should play on every radio station every t v station, every rock concert, every youtube channel just to let people know this is what rock should sound like. Thank you Dave Davies and the Kinks. Thank you.
The Kinks were punk before anyone knew what punk was! My favourite Kinks tune - just oozes Rock's core. No BS - just bash it out! Thank you .... Excellent version with a nice quality rendering.
Wow that’s just as good as the studio version. My favourite band . There is just something in their music that is just so raw and honest. I rank them as good as the Beatles hands down.
Energy + Melody. That's why so many 1970s punk bands covered 1960s music, because there was a directness and deceptive simplicity which was the hallmark of both genres. Good rock music is always fresh.
The Kinks brothers are true genius. Top 5 band from the 60´s. I love the edge in their sound from this period. Loads of brilliant songs through out their whole career.
I always felt the theme to "Hawaii 5-0" (The TV show that started airing in 1968) borrowed heavily from "Til the End of the Day." I cut my musical rock and roll teeth on the Beatles, but God I've flipped head over heels for the Kinks!
Great upload man! Always a pleasure to hear something rare from a classic band. I think most Kinks fans would enjoy the 4 part 'Rockumentary' that I uploaded....Kinks forever!
Definitely one of the most upbeat songs from the KinKs and I was 15 when I heard it on Chicago"s British countdown. It was also their first single after the lengthy litigation over publishing issues which the KinKs won, by the way. "Baby, I feel good"! This song still makes me feel good. RIP, Pete. You're sadly missed.
My favorite song as a fucked up kid in the 90s I used to play this on my old Maganovox boombox all around town and everyone hated me, god save The Kinks!
My personal top 3 British bands from that era (I'm 61) in order were (1) The Dave Clark Five (2) The Kinks and (3) The Beatles. They are probably listed that way because my all time favorite band is the Ramones. "KISS" (Keep It Simple, Stupid)
it is so nice to actually be able to hear and understand the lyrics. Classic era bringing tears to my eyes now as I think back and as I head into my retirement years
It does not go without saying the Beatles are the tops. You just said so yourself. The Beatles' early stuff is lackluster and tight. Early Stones were far better than they were. They didn't take off until they had the commercial jump. They were merely more commercially viable than other bands... but that whole era has amazing music and the fact that people only know the Beatles and like a herd think they are the best is a shame.
Great riff driven song with great harmonies like you really got me and all day. The live version sounds a bit trebbly here, but the single version fires on all cylinders
True. Lots of live takes from those days are interesting but have terrible sound quality due to the limitations in live recording equipment of the era. This is a wonderful exception.
It goes without saying that The Beatles are the tops. However, after the Beatles, I submit that the best, most talented and most influential band of the 1960s was NOT the Rolling Stones or whoever else you want to put forward. Rather it is the Kinks! Listen to this song and then listen to "I'm Not Like Everybody Else". Then, try to find two Rolling Stones that are better. Exactly!
The Kinks are the only band who deserve to sit alongside The Beatles and The Stones, even if its in third place. Third best band ever and massively under rated.
Now this saums up what it is to be a Mod far better than any other song, My Generation included, except maybe Sha La La La Lee or Friday on My Mind, nah.. it even beats those.... hateful replies to:- donotbother@nooneslistening
This was one of songs that ushered in what we now call hard rock. Some of their 70's song were poignant. Arthur was a great album and This Time Tomorrow off of the Lola versus whatchamacallit is not too bad. Shangrila is a fantastic song, as is Some Mother's Son off of Arthur. But yes, their songs from the sixties like Afternoon Tea, David Watts, Well Respected Man, See My Friends and songs off the Village Green Preservation Society rule in my opinion. I agree about Apeman. But Lola is clever.
moorlock2003.. Muswell H'billies "angry, bitter"? Sardonic, perhaps. It's given me great great joy for thirty and more years. Still we all take what we find in these songs...
My favourite song of the Kinks. They were great, but they had the bad luck to be at their best in the same moment when the Stones and the Beatles were too.
NESSUNO POTRA' RIDERE DI LEI (Til' the end of the day). The POOH. First official is to Bologna (ITALY) around 1964. Line up: Valerio Negrini (drums), Mario Goretti (guitar), Mauro Zini Bertoli (guitar), Gilberto Faggioli (bass), ROBERT GILLOT (keyboards). First 7 inch: "Vieni fuori" (Keep on running); second 7 inch release: "Quello che non sai" (Rag doll); followed by "Per quelli come noi". The band wins the "Festival delle Rose" with the song "Brennero 66" followed by "In the dark".
I was glad "Lola" gave them a hit after a 4 year absence, but I really didn't like what followed, especially the angry, bitter "Muswell Hillbillies" and the rest of those mediocre RCA albums. Ray's writing got too precious and small-minded. The '60s albums are the keepers.
Never heard this song until I went to see Ian Hunter in concert and this was the first song that he had piped in before his concert. Great tune!
I don't want to sound extreme, but this song should play on every radio station every t v station, every rock concert, every youtube channel just to let people know this is what rock should sound like. Thank you Dave Davies and the Kinks. Thank you.
Agreed
Great tune. GREAT version. Thank you TinyMontgomery.
Top shelf drummer
The Kinks were punk before anyone knew what punk was! My favourite Kinks tune - just oozes Rock's core. No BS - just bash it out! Thank you .... Excellent version with a nice quality rendering.
My favorite Kinks song too. And Dave was the rock star on my wall when I was 15 in that delightful fantasyland known as Southern California.
@@CydnotCharrise1 I was 15 years old too. And this is also my favorite Kinks song.
Wow that’s just as good as the studio version. My favourite band . There is just something in their music that is just so raw and honest. I rank them as good as the Beatles hands down.
Better.
Energy + Melody. That's why so many 1970s punk bands covered 1960s music, because there was a directness and deceptive simplicity which was the hallmark of both genres. Good rock music is always fresh.
Other than 50s there wasn't much else for them to cover. What do expect them to cover? 1920s? Classical? lol
Case in point, “Talk Talk” by The Music Machine (1966).
The Kinks brothers are true genius. Top 5 band from the 60´s. I love the edge in their sound from this period. Loads of brilliant songs through out their whole career.

Wonderfull to hear this LIVE - GOD SAVE THE KINKS -
Kinks had the best lyrics
@ :27 Mick Avory looks a lot like Peter Tork. just sayin
Rowdy-ass Kinks! My favorite band of the era.
Great upload man!
Always a pleasure to hear something rare from a classic band.
I think most Kinks fans would enjoy the 4 part 'Rockumentary' that I uploaded....Kinks forever!
Probably the best rock song ever!
GREAT SONG R.I..P PETE QUAIFE
No, you can say the Kinks are better. Because they are.
Amazing lead !!!

Best version of this song.
RandomPlayIist i preferred the lead guitar on the record.
@@benwilliams6081 me too! was that jimmy paige?
I just Love The Kinks💙
I love the Kinks so much.
There are some songs I love more than others, but there are NO Kinks songs that I hate!!

God, what a band!
it is so nice to actually be able to hear and understand the lyrics. Classic era bringing tears to my eyes now as I think back and as I head into my retirement years
You can hear in this song where the Ramones took some of their influence.
mighty

apeman and lola were like 69-70, they might as well be lumped in with the 60s stuff. Their true shit starts after that.
To continue the story - then they signed with Arista and became an arena band, by which time I had totally lost interest.
Great riff driven song with great harmonies like you really got me and all day. The live version sounds a bit trebbly here, but the single version fires on all cylinders
Dig that last A- chord
A truly excellent live performance of this number.
For a live performance this is both kickass and melodic..great!
True. Lots of live takes from those days are interesting but have terrible sound quality due to the limitations in live recording equipment of the era. This is a wonderful exception.
This version is even better than the original.
@shane4896 this sentence makes absolutely no sense
Always loved this song

Yep
you got that right. Reprise Records put out one of the best "Greatest Hits" albums ever.
In glorious Reprise Slush-O-Phonic sound....
@@dougschmidt483 if you mean the echoey fake stereo yes it was awful. I have it in mono.
WOW
ONE OF THE BEST EVER!! from the Kinks, the dj

The Kinks are different from the Beatles and the Stones but you can't say they're better or worse. Just different baby, just different.
My favourite song of the Kinks. They were great, but they had the bad luck to be at their best in the same moment when the Stones and the Beatles were too.
A little odd playing this song with only one guitar...
Erlend Goa you can just hear Ray playing rhythm guitar during the lead break - hisguitar was a bit quiet.
Yes, I think you're right, Ben, those low notes which aren't Pete's bass must be Ray on rhythm - terrific version all the same!Best, Barrie
@Underground906 Calm down you silly sausage. How many Kinks songs have you heard? Just take a tour of their career, you might be surprised.

Ray Davies got a little too clever during the 70s and 80s and became over-the-top artsy fartsy. So did Dave, but that's a whole other story.
@joberstadt Excellant statement. Wish I thought of it first. And I'm someone old enough to remember New Wave and MTV coming at around the same time.
You are great! this is my favorite song of the Kinks, and I'm glad to listen this version. They were great and close to the Stones and the Beatles.
oy hell yes!
This was just before the violent fight between Dave and the drummer.
I picked up this Double CD at the Princeton Record Exchange a year or so ago. One of the best buys I ever made.
Very good recording ... awsome ,,, better than the recording which was released on single ( ... as it was called in them old days)
@JohnMalloy05 Lousy 70's stuff? Doesn't make sense. Maybe 80's, or late 70's even.

Thank you for posting, this is more vibrant than the studio (greatest hits) version.
THE KINKS GREATEST HITS. One of the best ever. Every tune a rockin' jewel.
