Chrissie Hynde got to meet Ray Davies as a result of them singing the song. A budding relationship started between the two which actually led to a child.

Stop Your Sobbing From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia "Stop Your Sobbing" Song by the Kinks from the album Kinks Released 2 October 1964 Recorded Late August 1964[1] Studio Pye, London Genre Pop[2] Length 2:06 Label Pye Songwriter(s) Ray Davies Producer(s) Shel Talmy "Stop Your Sobbing" is a song written by Ray Davies for the Kinks' debut album, Kinks. So actually, I think that this song was Ray’s attempt at soothing the child he and Chrissy made one night when she visited him in London. It’s short, sweet and catchy as hell like most Kinks songs from that period. Always running around three minutes for airplay. Of course The Pretenders covered it; after alll,…well why not!
Ray Davies has been a great singer,, songwriter. All the time and I’ve respected him very much. - John Coolman
I used to do this version in my band

She liked the song so much she ended up pregnant
That has got to be one Bad Ass kid being spawned by these two
And she recorded this song, as well.
The original and the best!
Pretenders version is better
Are you serious? I think this is terrible and I like The Kinks. Its one of the Pretenders best songs.
No No NO
The original but NOT the best. Pretenders is way better.
The kinks wrote this gem???? 😯
I am truly ashamed for finding this out right now.
Don't be so hard on yourself. Keep enjoying the magically Kinks Rabbit hole, it's glorious.
I'm 55 and only found out relatively recently.
There are probably many more we don't realise are covers.
Bapak ku suka lagu ini, dulu sering dengar di kaset 😍😍😍
Selamat datang...I was in Lombok this year and I return almost every year because the people are very good with us. Terima kasih the Kinks 😉🎸
Gran tema sesentero de los geniales Kinks que después hicieron su versión The Pretenders.
It is time
Ray experimenting with a different vocal sound here. 😯
Just read Pretenders covered this original. Ha! Best songs are always cut too short..dam.
I was always jealous of Chrissie Hyndes for snagging Ray😂Pretenders did a good cover but Can’t compare to Kinks!
He probably needed penicillin afterwards 😮

Gee, you're too kind. The product of that brief relationship was a child.
Ray might have written this song and recorded it first, but Chrissie OWNS it!
As much as I'm a huge kinks can . I have to give to rays wife Chrissie on this one . Sydney Australia 🦘🦘🦘 8/1/2024😊
they never actually married.

The songs came out in 1964. Ray and Chrissie didn't start dating to much later (like 1980).

thank you.
@@jameskelly7412right, and Chrissie was just 13 then, so making a child with Davies before at the age of 12, creepy much?
This is how stupid rock and roll myths are created. Unless you delete it quickly. Just think about what you’re doing man!
I hate to say this but the Pretenders cover was better.
waaaaay better !!
I think that has a lot to do with 20 years worth of innovation in recording and producing technology, but I agree with you nonetheless.
