No..as the speaker said..you need to realise your own power. I was married and divorced before I was even 28..from that point I realised I need to take everything in my own hand..I am responsible for my life not anyone else..I came to a different country and earned a doctorate degree from which I was prevented before. The reason it happened because I lost confidence in me. Now 6 years later I am successful professionally and personally..I am blessed that went through that divorce..I would have never understood what real love is..you can argue that my advantage was my age..but I really don’t think so..it was the willpower..

I feel so anxious listening to her, having had to experience failed relationships, I tend to feel I am not good enough. But I believe life is all about choices that we make considering us or people around us. If we could choose with a heavy heart to fulfill our own needs, we might not see ourselves dwelling on past. Because atleast we made choice for ourselves and made us happy. People are so easy to give up on relationships these days because we don't need anybody to support us in any of our needs, so that mutual give and take doesn't exist. I believe finding a love and true affection that embraces you after understanding you beyond flaws is a true blessing. I choose to be that person and I believe I will end up with such a person. Love to you all going through a messed up relationship, may you choose yourself

Thank you Alka for a very inspirational and uplifting talk. It was a personification of breakdowns leading to breakthroughs. Coincidentally, it was in April 2015 that my 20 year marriage ended. After the trauma of the break up, I realised that it was the beginning of the rest of my life; like the rising of the Phoenix. I’m unstoppable now and live my best life because I love me first always period. Thank you for reminding me of my personal journey to greatness 🙏🙏

I agree with you to a large extent. When a wife thinks he is my husband and he is my life, a good husband always protects her wife and family. Many a times this logic doesn’t occur if either of or both couple have bad personality (and it is the case often), they go for divorce, extramarital relationship or live painfully for life (90% case). The remaining 10% couples are blessed and are made in heaven.

Also go through the report of misuse of 498a and domestic violence laws to harass husband. How husbands are getting murdered by their wife and her lover due to their extramarital affairs. In every 8 minute a guy commit suicide due to the matrimonial issues. You wander why you don't know these issues cuz our gynaecocentric media does not raise these issues.

wow, your story and your view of yourself during this traumatic time resonated so much with me. while trying to hold on to a failed marriage, i forgot to love myself, enduring all the mental and emotional abuse in the hands of my spouse. many desi women get so engulfed in trying to keep their failed marriages upfloat bc of culture and society that they forget to love themselves , thank you for reminding me to love myself and stand up for myself

I listened to this today...as I sit separated... going on a month n a half.
My only despair in this 20 year wrap up is the loss of my 11 year old child who is extremely angry with me n doesn't want to be with me.
While my heart hurts for him, I feel my finally leaving is for his good so he doesn't grow up to be a person whose wife has to walk out on him coz he didn't know how to respect a spouse. For him to think it's ok to mistreat a wife is ok..
I hope you reunite with him. Work on self worth. Your energy will improve your environment and relationships. Don’t give up.
Alia I thought the same that in future my son will learn the same it’s ok for a woman to get yelled and cry and then I left my husband though he is a good father but in front of his own emotions and feelings he doesn’t care for anything . It’s been 2 months away from my son , as of now I hope he doesn’t hate me but I afraid in future he will . I sometimes feel like to ho there again just for the sake of my son but my conscience doesn’t allow me .

My story is so weird without any issues it all happened , my husband never listened , never understand if anything g wrong happen to him why did it happen what is the root cause , he always blames others especially my family , It’s always he is ALWAYS right.
I always listened to him I always follow whatever he asked for I never complained for anything, I wouldn’t say he didn’t care for me but I don’t why did it all happen.

Stay strong and focus on yourself and your growth. That husband of yours doesn't deserve you anymore. File a case and divorce him. You will get pass this for the good.
just think that r u gonna get whatever u want ( may be love, emotional balance, financial support etc) after divorce. if yes then go for it but if not then what does it make a diff to u if he has left. divorce will only help u in getting legally married to another person. so fo u want that. just list your objectives of getting divorced and be practical. if his financial support is gonna help in ur childrens education then fight for that. even children can case against father to support them in education and marraige expenses if he is not supporting. for this no need of divorce.
