I came in with the lowest expectations because I wasn't familiar with this strategy game, just hoping the plot was good enough to keep me playing. I came out after 220 hours with a feeling I can't describe, and sadness kicked in when I knew the adventure had finally ended. would play it again. The best game of the year I've ever played, or even the game of the decade, if there aren't too many bugs in Act 3. I miss u, karlach :3
I know the feeling : My SO initiated me to the game in January this year. We've since did 4 runs, romanced almost every characters, and concluced most of the storylines. I haven't fell this way about a game in a long time. What a trip!
My brother loved playing Baldur's Gate and this type of games. Before he died he was excited to play Baldur's Gate 3 and managed to play for a couple of hours.. We had this beautiful song played for him at his funeral..

to me the flute is like some wise and old adventurer (like any of the main characters) telling their grandkids about their adventures, and that off-key C# is them mentioning a hilarious mishap between their heroic deeds

To anyone who is on a music journey like i am after finishing the game, i urge you all to go get Divinity Original Sin 2! The music in that game is as good and memorable as Baldur's Gate 3. Absolutely worth your time and money

There's an option to play this song with Alfira after Moonrise tower. She asks you to play with her, and it becomes such a quite breathable moment after such an intense fight (which can be at least 15 attempts in the first fight if youre trying to keep most of the Harper's alive) I appreciate this game so much, just for that moment of peace
I managed to storm the tower on the third try with only three Harper casualties. The first try I lost Jaheira, figured I'd want her advise and claws later and save-scummed my way back to the start. The ghost of Gygax must of been pissed at me because _MY ENTIRE PARTY ROLLED 1s_ on their initiative and we got massacred on the second try. The third time my paladin, Shadowheart, Karlach, and Gale absolutely butchered them with a flank attack.
Unfortunately because my party had a few summons out, the summons made everyone run away scared after I talked to Alfira (even she kinda ran away) so I didn’t have this moment :(
Some big things you can do to ensure as many harpers possible survive are SPOILERS! 1. In the kitchen at moonrise , speak to the halfling near some gnolls and succeed the wisdom throw to have the gnolls turn on her. This not only removes one fighter from the enemy team, but also adds 3 gnoll archers who will side with you. This is a net removal from the Absolute's team of 4 people. Moreover, as the gnoll's are closer, many enemies will target the gnoll's over the harper's. 2. Speak to one of the true soul disciples who is next to the door to the roof top. This is one the first floor of moonrise towers. If you speak to her claiming to want to help Ketheric, she will kill one of her own people as an example of the absolute's power. (I am less sure if this enemy ACTUALLY appears as an enemy in the fight however). 3. Break the tieflings out of prison. The reason for this is it will often trigger a fight with the prison guards. The prison guards will all come as reinforcements in the final battle, apart from the 3 mages and death shepherds who are their own separate pain in the arse. For the easiest time freeing the tieflings, try and kill guards separately to prevent them randomly killing a prisoner. If you kill the prison guards this denies the defence a whole squad of reinforcements.
@Thelionpaladin I initially went through the prison to clear it out and free the tieflings, but learned quickly that if you don't kill the scrying eye quickly it calls in reinforcement; which really sucked because I had spread my party out to take out the guards in the main entry and the torturers. After I reloaded, I went in to where the Warden was, cast hold person on her and killed her; then cleared the dungeon and worked my way back into the main entry. My second attempt worked much better because the Warden is the toughest, so taking her out immediately was great and I was able to trick a few nearby guards into that watchtower so I could kill them without much of a fight; then the main entry had no reinforcements (plus I remembered to cast silence on the torturers so then couldn't cast confusion or cloud or daggers). Edit: I also freed the gnolls, but two of them blocked the doorway which caused the third to go a different way and get killed; and they missed like 90% of their shots. Still glad I freed them, even if just because they didn't deserve to be slaves for the Absolute. It was really cool seeing them join the fight on my side too, I just wish they did more.
Hearing this song in character creation is nothing short of magic. Character creation itself was a journey because of the gorgeous atmosphere and the promise of what was to come. And of course it introduced us to this gorgeous melody before we’d start hearing it throughout the game. Like we have our own brainworm lulling us into giving over control even after we’ve stepped away from the game.
I love this song. The flute sections are playful and curious, almost like it’s as eager to see what we create as the player is. The rest of the track tells us that whoever it is, they’re going to be a badass hero.
How profound of a tune! But I cannot share or ponder it with my everyday companions? It carries a deep sadness, as if it is only for me to bear, but also to possess, to cherish. Only few could understand, but that is fine with me.

This is the first time that a games music/soundtrack has attached me the story and lore so much. Baldurs gate 3 in my opinion has the best music and is the best game I’ve played.

*BIT OF SPOILERS FROM ACT 1... BE WARNED* . . . . . . I was just doing a second playthrough. An evil playthrough at that. And I got to Alfira, which I missed my first time around somehow... I couldn't bring myself to be mean to her, even though I'm trying to be evil. Somehow ended up passing both performance checks on my oathbreaker orc paladin and realized it gives your character musical proficiency. I then found out she will play an accompanying part to any song you play. So now my group of evil characters have been sitting around for the past hour or so just playing music with Alfira. I even picked up my guitar and mandolin irl and been jamming with it/learning the songs too. I came here to get one part a little cleaner. . I realize yall probably don't care, just felt like that was a fun series of events that I wanted to share. . Side note, Borislav Slavov is an absolute legend. I fell in love with his music throughout DOS:2. And here I am falling in love with yet another of his soundtracks.

I will say though, BG3 really brought out my inner chaotic neutral lol. . But you are spot on with that. The "fallen hero" trope is a classic.

Obviously any narrative played out is going to be deeper than it's generalized trope. But that's the idea. . I've always enjoyed it in media I consume, so why not in video games right? lol

I have thoroughly enjoyed discovering all of the tremendous music in the games that I've played. Just started playing this masterpiece last weekend. Needed a way to escape the horrors of 2024 America. This game and it's music have already helped to alleviate some of the anxiety I had been feeling! Really beautiful music indeed.

I said this on the other version as well, but this song really feels like a massive hug from someone you love. Comforting and full of emotions. It gets harder and harder to not cry every time I hear it. It reminds me of all of the feelings I had while playing BG3 - the adventure, the horrors, the failures... But so much more; the triumphs, the friendships and bonds forged through survival and fire, and especially the love of your closest companions. Mr. Slavov, thank you so much for composing the most beautiful soundtrack I have ever had the absolute privilege of hearing.
I haven't played much of the EA in order to avoid spoilers, but this track instantly stood out to me when I heard it during character creation - It really sets a nice tone, love it!

I need to say that Borislav Slavov deserves many Grammy awards for the BG3 soundtrack. The orchestral version of "The Power" is one of the most gorgeous pieces of music to delight my ears and soul in a long time. ❤ I cry good healthy cry each time, the beauty and all the unspoken words and emotions in every note, each part - truly a masterpiece!
Love this music VERY much. Because when she played at the moment of dancing with Will, I realized HOW MUCH I fell in love with him. My sweet romantic Will and the melody that suits him so well. You say, “Hey, she’s not Willa, others have her on them too.” Yes, but this music and Will are made for each other. No, you won't convince me. The dance with Will was the most romantic thing I had in this game (And I had a romance with Gale, Astarian, Will, Halsin, Shadowheart and Karlach.)
I'm doing one now, and it's really hard. It's harder earlier in the game than later because you have start off with evil decisions to reinforce your wicked side. I had to kill Wyll and Karlach at the beginning of the game because there was no way they were going to stick around while Minthara and the group were just slaughtering innocents. The game definitely has a darker feel without those two around. A much needed light is gone from the world now.
I am firmly convinced that all the heroes of the game are intertwined in this soundtrack. The guitar is the player, which connects all other instruments. But I think the remaining instruments symbolize different heroes for each player. For example for me flute - Shadowhearth, violin - Astarion, oboe - Gale and etc. It`s like insruments and theirs sounds have conversation, they argue with each other but guitar keeps them together
Gave my entire party the performance feat just so we can go on tour around faerun and play this song.

Played a warlock and grabbed the performer feat to do the same. Eldritch blast spam knock a dude off a ledge play him a funeral tune

I said this on the other version as well, but this song really feels like a massive hug from someone you love. Comforting and full of emotions. It gets harder and harder to not cry every time I hear it. It reminds me of all of the feelings I had while playing BG3 - the adventure, the horrors, the failures... But so much more; the triumphs, the friendships and bonds forged through survival and fire, and especially the love of your closest companions. Mr. Slavov, thank you so much for composing the most beautiful soundtrack I have ever had the absolute privilege of hearing.

I instantly relax when I hear this song. It's crazy how music and games can imprint on you like that. I have the same thing with the initial GW1 music. I instantly feel like I am back in the green meadows watching butterflies.

The orchestral version of "The Power" is one of the most gorgeous pieces of music to delight my ears and soul in a long time. ❤ I cry good healthy cry each time, the beauty and all the unspoken words and emotions in every note, each part - truly a masterpiece!

Love this music VERY much. Because when she played at the moment of dancing with Will, I realized HOW MUCH I fell in love with him. My sweet romantic Will and the melody that suits him so well.

Yes, but this music and Will are made for each other. No, you won't convince me. The dance with Will was the most romantic thing I had in this game (And I had a romance with Gale, Astarian, Will, Halsin, Shadowheart and Karlach.)

In the middle of one right now and it’s so hard, I keep wanting to just be good lol
I'm doing one now, and it's really hard. It's harder earlier in the game than later because you have start off with evil decisions to reinforce your wicked side. I had to kill Wyll and Karlach at the beginning of the game because there was no way they were going to stick around while Minthara and the group were just slaughtering innocents. The game definitely has a darker feel without those two around. A much needed light is gone from the world now.

I am firmly convinced that all the heroes of the game are intertwined in this soundtrack. The guitar is the player, which connects all other instruments. But I think the remaining instruments symbolize different heroes for each player. For example for me flute - Shadowhearth, violin - Astarion, oboe - Gale and etc. It`s like insruments and theirs sounds have conversation, they argue with each other but guitar keeps them together
