  • @anthonyb5279

Very good fight. Historically the F-86 proved better due to maintenance and properly isolated systems let it take more damage and keep flying. Pneumatic failures were common in the MiG-15. no backup system and due to centralized bottle fed system a cockpit seal failure also resulted in flight control and break failure. After my Friend Ed died due to losing his breaks from a cockpit seal leak I replaced the Nitrogen bottles with a pump with bottle backup and added a valve to isolate the cockpit seal as well as make a new seal with better materials. Many MiGs were sitting ducks due to this type of failure and easy pickings. This was probably the biggest factor that put the F-86 over the MiG-15 otherwise they were fairly even. The other big factor was poor training. The Russian pilots did much better than the poorly trained North Korean pilots. This was manly due to the un-commanded snap roll tendency in a descending right hand turn. The Russian pilots were able to manage this problem better and exploit it to achieving an advantage.

On famines, I have heard that a decent level of DPRK deaths aren't from malnutrition, but NCDs like cancer, indicating some level of food security (whether or not the food in question is carcinogenic is another debate all together).
If we're really going down the communism is when no food road, look at where I live, the UK. Which model of the F-86 was that? The later models were much better opponents to the Mig than the early ones. Especially the F-86E or F models. At least that's what I remember off the top of my head anyway. I'll have to look into that again.

What's that "winking" indicator on the left side of the cockpit?

  • @Robert53area

Wish I could see more inside this cockpit, I was trying to read the tag on the right of the instruments, I only could make out the top and the bottom.
Something about launch into the air, and last word was included. I can read russian, but hard to see from video, I have no idea what the acronyms mean.

Could we have a combat between F86 Sabre and a Folland Gnat. Folland Gnats were very famously known as Sabre Slayers during the 1965 conflict between India and Pakistan.
