I think the Freedom colours look better, but I also know that the white will likely discolour over time, so I'd say that Darkness would be more practical. $99 for a full-size is a great price compared to a lot of the boards from big gaming brands.
i've bought the Montech Freedom Full Size with RED, after comparing 10 Keybords to 120€. I'm so good damn happy, Spacebar is totally silence here! I even can't wait to type something, never had that feeling, what a joy to use! Thanks for the video
I got a full size one maybe a month ago - I'm very impressed, still totally stock and it's already one of my favorites to keep in rotation, along a variety of Keychron K10 pros and Q6s. Haven't found anything better for the price! Just wish it was easier to take apart.
Their full size keyboard is really growing on me. It's not everyday we see custom keebs with knob. Fingers crossed Amazon would have them in stock here in the US.
The structural engineering nerd in me really appreciates that they call it damping foam as opposed to dampening 😂 Damping denotes energy dissipation, dampening implies making something wet! 💦
This keyboard is $89 with Hot-swap. pre lube switch. south facing RGB. MDA keycaps and rotary knob. Plus the typing sound is really good. Are you kidding me? Probably the best keyboard under 100 dollars I’ve seen for a long time. If the big brand sell this keyboard they probably going for 150-170 dollars.
@@farmeunit the thing is there seem to be fewer TKL options like these and I'm in the hunt of a good budget TKL board (preferably with a knob), gasket mount and south-facing LEDs that can be further modded to my liking. This might be it. For a bit more money I'm tempted to go Keychron Q3 or Monsgeek M3. PS: Perhaps it is better to get the Keychron V3 in this budget, it's currently priced lower than the Montech and I'll change the keycaps anyway no matter which one I get.
@@CFI963it has an extremely quiet yet satisfying thock, but my opinion may be subjective since I'm coming from a ducky one 2 with cherry blue switches
1:06 If you have an underdesk keyboard sliding tray, and use anything along the lines of a TKL and smaller, there'll be more than enough space on the side for a keyboard cover, I guess I just use a folded microfiber cloth to cover my own TKL
These keyboards for their price aint too bad! These budget ones are getting pretty damn good! I wanna switch to them but I just cant abandon my creature comfort in my gaming keyboard of dedicated media keys (I know some keyboards have a function layer for media keys but I really dont like that approach at all, not my cup of tea). Give me a decent tkl with dedicated media keys that is moddable and you have won me over instantly!
My problem with this knob (and not only this) is the volume control mode. I wish the knob in volume control mode will mute the sound when pressed rather than change the mode. Changing the mode could be activated by double press or longer press.
i got the keyboard but whenever I press the f7, 7, U, J, or N key it activates every key in the row. please help me fix this I really want to use the keyboard but this issue is preventing me from using it.
Horrible stabilizers which rattle, tick, and are poorly lubed/dampened is the biggest issue I find on most prebuilt mechanical keyboards. For my Keychron Q1 V2 this was a really bad issue that required disassembling the board to fix. I really do not want to do that in the future, I just want to buy a mechanical keyboard that actually has good stabs which are actually well lubricated stock and I genuinely can't fathom why companies continue to get this wrong over and over again.
You should try the monsgeek M1W or the M7W. the fact that the M1W not only comes with the plate mounted stabilizers as stock. They even have screw in stabs thrown in there and i honestly think that it's such a huge steal, not to mention the full aluminum alloy and the gradient style keycaps
Hi! Love your channel! This video convinced me to buy this board as my first hot swap! I was wondering if you could make a video about modding this board? Im a little nervous taking this apart for the first time. But if not i understand, thanks for the review!
I have the full sized Darkness but I'm wishing I had gone with the Freedom instead. I like it so far but I actually feel like it's over-damped for me. After a tape mod and removing the bottom layer of rubber damping material it sounds much better IMO
Hi there, i was wondering if you could guide me to a video or post that talks about modding this keyboard? Its my first board and i haven’t seen much info about disassembly Thanks in advance
@@PAPA_CEO_PUMA yeah I couldn't find anything on disassembly myself, I just had to wing it. But basically the two halves are clipped together. So if you get yourself a plastic wedge separation tool for electronics and just go slowly all around the edges you should be good
Subjectively, do you prefer the brown switches or yellow ones? I am team linear, however some reviewers said they like the brown on this one slightly better?
The USB-C part is the one that goes in the keyboard, but is the other end of the cable that goes into the PC a regular USB 3.0? I may have missed that in the vid!
if anyone has this keyboard and doesnt like the spacebar and isnt willing to risk prying it open, u can just stuff some tissue inside your spacebar and it automatically dampens it by quite a bit and makes it sound much better
I got the freedom with yellow switches and it's the best keyboard ive ever gotten. I had the ducky one 2 mini and compared to that - The sound, stabalizers, typing experience and build are all way better
I know you commented a long time ago but i have a few questions: How is it holding up after a few months and is the case all plastic? Do you still like it?
@@TheHolyMrH case is pretty much all plastic, its holding up pretty good - i even spilled a protein shake all over the keyboard but i cleaned it up and its still working good. the only thing is i had to switch like 5 switches cuz they bugged out throughout the months. I still like it but i would want faster switches cuz the yellow ones + the keycaps feel good but kinda slow for gaming.
@@Vax_ thank you dude. Yeah its meant as an budget option for my office job. Sounds like a good deal. Try to grab some tactile switches so you can hotswap;) i am very happy with my drop holy pandas just one switch failed in 2years of use
Hello, in your video thumbnail, the TKL Darkness keyboard top has a bronze-like color, not dark gray like in your video. Is it bronze colored or is it gray? Also can you tell me, on the Freedom keyboard, does the back-lighting shine through the keys so that I could see the letters/symbols without a light shining down on the keyboard?
