Subbing thanks to this video. I have the "same" keyboard as the one in this video, and seeing how easy and relative cheap it can be to modded to sound like a good, decent one is honestly very inspiring. Makes me want to try it after learning more about keyboards, tools everything around it
I bought a 20 dollar keyboard and did some mods. Tape and a plastic/ rubber thing that I have in my kitchen cabinets and just bought some switches (creamy yellow) it sounds amazing. I might buy key caps.
you should order some switch pads just little foam pads that go under the switch. i have a budget keyboard with cream yellows and put the switch pads in them and it made a noticeable change it sounds good!
I knew you were going to win as soon as I heard that board. Those Wisteria switches are some of the most awesome budget switches. The tactile especially.
The funny thing about this video for me is that I went to the UK for 3 months, and I bought this keyboard thinking I would throw it away when I'm done working overseas. To my surprise, I actually loved this small keyboard 😂 I had a small area to work, and this keyboard saved my butt and never once failed me. I didn't have the heart to throw it away, so I made space to bring it back home with me, I still use it when needed. I didn't know I could further customize this keyboard, and this video is giving me ideas

Outemu sockets are the death of me. So I bought a board to mod for the first time and I bought some gateron gpro yellows and was shocked when I realized that the pins were too wide. Cut to a few days later, a LOT of trimming and I got them to fit. Yay! I actually was looking at wisteria switches, and was planning to trim off the extra legs to fit my 3pin

So I recently discovered, you could have used the wisteria switches. The only catch is that you cannot use them in any non-otemu PCBs. You can cut the extra pins off and it'll work in an otemu board.

There may not be a “best,” but subjectively I’d go with a Keychron K3 with Gateron Red Switches on the hot swap PCB and some Krytox 205-G to lube them all with. Two layers of masking tape on the back of the PCB, bandaid mod the stabilizers, rubber o-rings under the key caps, and some Eva foam and poly fill for sound and vibration dampening in the bottom of the case. Replace keycaps last if you can afford it with some double-shot PBTs. Should feel like butter and be super solid and thocky. I did this with a K6 and it came out great.
Hi Betty! I just recently found your channel after really getting into mechanical keyboards and noticed this video. You showed my Amazon review for this keyboard! Yay! I'm a star! lol! This inspired me to mod mine and make a TH-cam video on it. Can I share it with you and get your feedback? I don't want to seem like I'm trying to promote the video here in your comments, so is there a way that I can send you the link? Thank you! Love your content!
