I’m 50 lbs overweight = obese . I think the greatest contributor is a stress inactivity as before and hormonal changes into menopause.
I’m on Keto 2 months . iF and OMAD interchangeably. I dropped only 6 lbs.
my blood work came out normal for A1C glucose, my ALT IS 37 but it was over a hundred last year .
I’m not mineral deficient, I sleep about 7 hours.
Why am I not losing the weight faster ?

I will be 40 tomorrow. I’ve had 7 kids, with the last 2, I had gestational diabetes and gained quite a bit of weight after they were born. I’ve tried everything to lose the weight. Before my last babies, I weighed 130 pounds. After my last baby, at my heaviest, I weighed 180 pounds. Last summer I ran and tried to eat less, with zero success. I’ve been lightly doing IF for a a few months now and I weigh 160 pounds. The holidays make it hard to stay on track with the food I eat. When I tell people I’m doing IF, they act like it’s super unhealthy and just a fad. This has only motivated me more to do both IF and keto. I’m gonna prove to the haters that I can be fit and healthy. Thank you for all your videos! I’m hoping my mom that has RA will try it to help with her disease.

I started to learn about IF some 3 yrs ago. I started to cut out all snacks and sweets, bread. After months of brown rice nuts, avocado my body weight dropped:
    1. 2021. 64kg to 55kg
    2. 2022 55kg to 52.5kg.
My eating habit changes from 5 times to 2times.

Hello Sten! My husband and I have watched many of your videos and have benefitted from them greatly. We are 54 and 59 years old and despite having a decently healthy diet, we were a bit overweight (especially me). Inspired by your very informative videos, we started cutting carbs, then started 18/6 IF. We have even done a couple of 24 hour fasts! We are absolutely shocked at how easy it has been and how good we both feel, despite having ultimately cut our food intake pretty significantly. I don’t see us ever going back! Thank you so much for sharing the results of your research and consideration!

I learned that intermittent fasting is way easier when you do Keto. Your body doesn´t wait for carbs and your blood sugar doesn´t fall down, but when you are just doing a normal softer lowcarb diet your body feels like starving. He wants his carbs, especially when you are used to consume lots of carbs and have already blood sugar problems. But Keto and intermittent fasting together is no problem at all. That´s what I (ex-sugar-junkie) learned. Thank you for all your very informative and pleasant videos, I love them.

Dear Doctor Ekberg, before I found you I thought I m from another planet. No official guidelines worked for me ever! I always felt that breakfast is not for me. I felt the less times a day I eat it feels better. But its hard to go against propaganda machine! so I tried eating breakfast, I tried eating frequent meals, it all ended up with weight gain, always being hungry and angry. You explained the process so well! I am now having 2 meals a day thinking of going to 1. I am not hungry between meals as I lowered carbs, not keto, but almost. Feel amazing! Thank you for your work!

Thanks Dr Sten, I'm about 6-7 weeks in. I had been shifting to vegetarian, beans and more beans, then I came across Keto. I'd tried low carb before, couldn't stick with it. The high fat made it possible. My transition was not intentional so much as feeling my way. I started eating more fats, cutting back on the carbs. Whenever I looked at the grams of carbs, even when I thought I'd consumed no carbs, I was high 50-80 grams. At the same time I started 16/8 fasting, eating at 10 am until 6 pm. Mornings I'd be like a dog looking at a cookie, waiting for 10am... But this morning I did a hard 3 hour ocean paddle, black coffee, no food. Drove home past a lot of stores-no problem. I made a database to calculate my portion, (I just nibbled o some cream cheese 40 grams, my nutrition facts is for 28 grams so I divided 1.43 x 1 serving. I use the Total Fat #, then Tot. Carb - (minus) Diet. Fiber, Protein, calories.
It keeps a running total, and figures out my percentages. Now I am dialed in. I still get the occasional keto headache in the morning (I used to have migraines, so I know my headaches) water or black coffee, a pinch of sea salt- gone. What I think I can say with confidence is Keto is a fun challenge, I feel better beyond any placebo effect; I'm more leveled out, mentally and physically. Like this morning, I wasn't hungry when I woke up, I wasn't hungry paddling. I should have hit the wall. When I started paddling I could guarantee 90 minutes-Bonk, today I slowed down a bit (I've been off the water for months, so I'm doing great for getting back out). Is keto good or bad for my health? I personally have no definitive answers, but I feel good, it's very interesting, I've lost 8-9 pounds (I was about 20 lbs over weight). I remember how difficult it was to do an over night fast for a 10 or 11 am blood draw. I'd be grumpy all morning, desperate to eat. Now I do daily 16 hour fasts, I've stretched it beyond that no problems, this is my 8th week, so it's definitely sustainable. My calorie counts are interesting. I've never dialed in this precisely before. What I can say about this is 1. We consume a lot of calories a lot faster than we think, 2. If we have one big meal a day, some nibbling, and a small meal, it seems always to be under 1800 calories. (I last figured my normal day should be about 2300, but I'm trying to lose weight, and with keto you're not supposed to calorie count.) I found a list of food I'd eaten on one of my first shift to keto days: All carbs, not even close. (I had a lot of popsicles to work through... I stopped them 6 weeks ago and my girlfriend just finished the last one)

Dr. Ekberg, I first watched this presentation in the last week of May, 2023. It is now the first week of October 2023. Approximately eighteen weeks have passed and by following your recommendations as presented on this video, and subsequent others, I have shed sixty-six pounds. I was 300lbs in May; I now stand at 234lbs. I'm not tired all day long either because my energy comes from fat (burning premium fuel I think, something like that?!). I should be at my ideal weight in six months at this rate?! Thank you for this precious, life saving truth! It is fabulously liberating to be healthy, and knowledgeable about the human body and how it is supposed to function. I realize also that I have been fed nothing but lies from the 'establishment' all these years... I understand better the verse, John 8: 32, "And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."

I was eating very low carb as well. This worked well for me. But i reached a platue. I Didn't understand that insulin was still a factor. When I started to eat larger less frequent meals. I broke thru my platue and started losing fat again. It took me along time to get to this point. A Couple years of trying.I started with cutting out carbs. Thank you for helping! Thank you, Sten. Dr Ken Berry and yourself, have changed my life with your knowledge and expertise. I just turned 60. I have been on the carnivore diet and have been doing intermittent fasting for 2 years. I skip breakfast (just coffee or matcha) and workout on an empty stomach. I went from a chubby 220 to a ripped 185. I am benching more than I ever have in my life and I started working out in my early 20's. I have been raising the ketone levels in my body. As you know, ketosis is a metabolic state in which your blood has a high concentration of ketones, namely beta-Hydroxybutyrate . It occurs when your body starts using fat as its main fuel source due to limited access to glucose, or blood sugar, typically caused by starvation, fasting, or following a very low carb diet.
I am stronger now than I have ever been in my life and my energy level is unmatched. I am back to what I weighed in my 20's. I am a beast. Thank you for taking me on this journey! Goodness is greatness!

I was never hungry in the morning and finally began ignoring the “experts” and was fasting on my own. Eating from 2pm-8pm. Weight just dropped off and I began cutting carbs, mostly meat, fat and all and veggies and more weight fell off, energy jumped and my lifts at gym are better then ever. Nature and fasting for the win!

Thank you Dr. Ekberg for explaining this so well. I have been doing this for a while in attempt to heal faster from topical steroid withdrawal and it has truly been life changing. Besides reducing inflammation in my body, intermittent fasting has also helped me with not feeling tired during the day, control brain fog and much more. I am so happy to feel better since I have not been very lucky with medications which made me lose all my hair and feel sick and nauseous all the time. I feel like it is so important that information are being shared on how one can improve and live a healthier life to have energy for things we want to do in life. After the 8-week fast, he lost 14kg, and in a follow-up blood test, his blood pressure, cholesterol, and liver enzymes are now within the standard range. Hi Dr sten, everything you have covered in this video is spot on. Long story short I’ve been I F for about five years but didn’t realise, two meals a day breakfast at 11 am dinner at 5 pm. Odd coffee or tea in between with a chocolate biscuit. My big problem was the 15 spoons of sugar plus all the hidden sugar. 31 Aug I cut out ALL sugar, sweetners, processed food etc. I cannot believe how good I feel , by down, aches and pains going away, sleeping better , mental clarity through the roof. Not pee ing for England all day and night. Lost 7 pounds in weight and 2 inches off my waist. I also have pre biotic powder in my bulletproof coffee as well next step is activated charcoal, what’s your view s on this. Thanks for a very informative channel keep up the good work. God Bless you.

I went on IF last fall and had Keto
From 4:00-8:00 pm. I went from 195 to 175 fairly quick. I now am weighing 148-152 consistently. I had an accident on September 14th 2018 and have not been able to exercise at all. Still my main objective was getting healthy and in doing so the weight came off and I feel better than I have in years!

Hi Stan. Greetings from Australia. I finally understand how to do IF. I was doing it wrong although I lost 7 kgs since combining Keto/IF. I think getting rid totally of carb and sugar was the key to my weight loss. I like the fact that you advised to do IF for health and not to lose weight. Thank you for this great advice. Thank you. 👍😍

Not forcing anything, just seems natural. Eating low carb, nutritional meals and drinking water only with the odd (single) cup of tea w/milk during feeding windows AND walking too. Thank you for the reminder that it’s about health… getting the body back to optimum health… the weight loss is a bonus!! At 69 & after years in brain & physical fog, feeling better by the day…

Thank you, Dr. Ekberg. Today, May 24, 2024, officially I have lost 22 lbs.
Was 168 lbs, and now 146 lbs on a 5' 6" frame. Exactly the weight of a 10 kg bag of flour which I have sitting in my pantry. I lifted that 10 kg bag of flour and walked around the kitchen with it.
That is a lot of excess weight to be burdened on the body.
I owe it to you and your educational TH-cam channel. My A1C was 5.9 in February, three weeks ago, it was down to 5.6. Will get my A1C tested again in early September. My goal is to lose one more inch on my waist.
    Thank you again, from Canada.

I started intermittent fasting after I came back from my mom's who stays in a small, fertile town in maharashtra.while I was there I ate a lot but I ate organic whole foods, grass fed ghee, butter, jaggery, peanuts, coconuts, veggies, home ground wheat flour, flax seeds, .all kinds of herbs spices and legumes , organic local rice all of it cooked with locally made cold pressed peanut oil. Once I came back my body demanded less food . I didn't want to eat too often cause for 10 days I had packed myself with all the clean nutrition startung intrtmittent fasting was sooooo easy after that. After seeing this video I know why! Because I had prepped my body by reducing sugar and carbs and getting more nutrition for whatever carbs I consumed, it was the yummiest most satisfying prep in history.

Thank you for your information that you're giving us 💕 I started my keto diet on August 8th 2022, it is now August 27th 2022, I noticed that I've lost 9 lbs, but I am mainly went on it, because I have reoccurring UTIs and candida. It's really frustrating fighting that stuff. But after watching your videos and Dr Ken Barry's videos, I have learned there's a lot more to taking care of yourself and trying to keep your gut in order. I'm making sure that I do intermittent fasting, anywhere between 16 to 18 hours. Absolutely no sugars, and extremely low carbs, and no cheating. If you have any other suggestions concerning the UTIs or candida problem please let me know. But I really think this lifestyle change should take care of it.

Just over 11 months in and I've lost just under 1.5 lbs per month, which feels like a great pace, especially as I'm now in my 50s. By the time I get to one year, that's about 16 lbs total. This has been especially sustainable during the pandemic, as I'm able to be at home and control my food in a different way. It's also sustainable going forward, now that I'm used to it. There are some further changes, besides weight loss, that I want to see that I hope will come as I keep this up but the improvements I've seen have been most welcome. Thank you.

Huge fan of this guy. Lost 60lbs and at age nearly 60 to feel better than I ever have is great. I’d like Dr Elbert to comment in my theory based on the fact that I used to have 3 messy poops. Once a day now but I think my body is working harder to get rid of the waste. Could something be telling my brain not to eat as that system is maxed out? Never hungry. One meal a day. No more afternoon naps. Life is good👍

i've been eating one meal a day for a few years now. I haven't lost weight, which is a good job because i've always been relatively slim. Health wise the only thing i've noticed is that i suffer a lot less from the syndrome of the empty wallet, which i suffered frequently, especialy the last week of every month. About 2 or 3 times a month i don't eat all day, just drink coffee and water. I once read that 1/4 of what we eat is to feed us and the other 3/4 is to feed the Dr, i certainly believe this to be true.

Utah Jeff ….here…..I have been on the Keto / Carnivore plan for about 6 weeks now and what you say is very true. As time goes on the need for sugar and carbs gets very manageable. I can now walk past the donut case at 7-11 and it does not draw me like a magnet. I am now getting pretty regular with the one meal a day plan. With a family I still have to be flexible. Occasionally, have to deviate. But it is easy to get back on track. My associates at work have recognized significant weight loss and know I am on this plan and are very supportive…. JT

It works so hard herding these cows and the harder it works the muscular and fit it gets. I live in ranch country so these kids see horses and cows. I hoped they say what I am trying to say!

I thought I would *never* be able to skip breakfast! Also, I believed that eating at night (after 5 p.m.) was unhealthy. Then, by mistake, I discovered that skipping breakfast is possible. One day, I ate breakfast and lunch and decided to fast for the rest of the day. By evening, I was starving; so, I had some cottage cheese and apples w/peanut butter around 8 p.m. -- The next morning, I woke up, for the first time ever, *not* starving! A cup of coffee (which I love) was enough! Eating later in the day, for me, is not only effective, but revolutionary. Thank you, again, Dr. Ekberg!

I have evidenced that IF works, and I am glad to have found your channel, to be my source of inspiration to get back on track.
Towards the end of your video, you mentioned that you yet had to find a 'human created food' that would be of benefit to health and wellness.
Back in my training days I used as energy source during 5+ hour triathlons a product called UCAN energy supplement. (only used during races)
I did my own research at that time on UCAN, started using it during races, and my practical conclusion was very positive. I would love to hear your thory and insight on UCAN energy suoplement.

Thank you so much for all this information. I’m 46 and have been heavy all my life since puberty. But I’m changing things now. I’ve discovered that I have a bad addiction to carbs. Well now I have tried intermittent fasting a few days before Thanksgiving and I was amazed every morning when I got on the scale and saw it down more. Just from cutting out a lot of carbs (not everything though) And intermittent fasting and also walking / working out fasted in the morning before any food went into my body. I realize though that a bit of that weight was water weight lost from carb loss but I’m taking my vitamins, magnesium and potassium. So I’m hoping I’m on the right track. I tried Keto just after Thanksgiving and I just don’t think I’m quite ready for that drastic of a cut from the fruits and veggies. It’s made me very aware of all the sugar and ways insulin is just making me fat. Thank you so much I can not thank you enough!!!

And as I said on the other thread, I have lost 10kgs in 7 months through intermittent fasting, reducing my carbs and moderate exercise.
I can also skip taking meds on my fast days.

Going slow is the best way , but it's so hard to wait for that big goal you set for yourself. I recently started roller skating and it is the first physical activity I can't live without. I skate several times a week for several hours . Being a better skater is pushing me to eat healthier. Everyone should find an activity that drives them.

After watching yours, i Understand totally..thank you so much for another informative video! Look forward to more from you!

Thank you dr Ekberg. I still have a question on IF after watching some of your videos, hoping I find the answer. I wonder also that nobody is asking what is proper to eat after a prolonged IF? Is it proper to eat directly fats (for exemple an avocado?)? Or a simple salad, better? Would it be ok to add from the beginning olive oil to it? I would really appreciate if you would find the time to answer this question. I think a video on this topic would be very interesting for everybody. Thank you again.

@@andylucas6962 I don't believe it, I'm sorry. Your body is too sensible after a prolonged fasting. Did you try it?

@@pantelimon1695 red meat is the most nutritionally/calorie dense and the easiest assimilated food on the planet , why wouldn't you make it your first choice, yes I fast all the time

Muslims have been doing this for 14 centuries. We are encouraged to fast on Mondays and Thursdays every week besides fasting for the whole month of Ramadan.

It’s so interesting. I always thought fasting was a good reason not to eat because, at the time, there wasn’t enough food for the group. It makes so much sense though. I want to try this!

@Jamal , shifting lunch to evening & then gorging on food till morning is not helpful at all

Fasting is there in Hinduism, Jainisim and other religions. There are Monday and Friday fastings for Hindus and all year round IF fasting in Jainism. Hindus have month long fasting too during certain months but that is not broadcast loudly as other religions do. Jainism teaches minimalism centuries before the west found it recently.

@Davidson , Hinduism like Catholicism is a very flexible religion. So most Hindus dont fast, and those who fast eat fruits & milk products throughout the day. Only very few Hindus do real fasting
