    I had one of these. My father bought it for me for my 17th birthday. It was the X.U.F. Version with the disc brake. It had only been built up a few hours before we went and got it. This was in 1985. I loved it. I wish I still had it. It’s really stood the test of time compared to today’s bikes. Really happy and great memories.sadly both my bike and my Father have gone now. I watched the video on Father’s Day 2022. Happy heavenly Father’s Day dad I couldn’t of have a better father. THANKYOU.

    Bought one brand new from Collins Gregory's in Sherwood Nottm 1986. Cost £1895 was a choice between that or the MBX125. I made the right choice. £51 a month. Had it 9 years. knocked out the restriction ring in the exhaust pipe to give me 22hp couldn't keep the front end down when I did it 🤣. 68mph tops & 3 speeding tickets.
    I know 😥 my own fault. Started first time every time. Swapped it for an XT500 nothing but problems. I've waited 22 yrs to get my dream classic CX650 turbo which I love. Enjoy the TS my friend it was awsome.

      Hey up Alfa, yes you made the right choice there, the mbx wasn't a bad bike, but not as good as the tsx, bet that CX turbo is a bonnie bike, ride safe, Simon B 👍

      @@SIMONB1 Thankyou yes its awsome. Took me 5yrs to find a decent one. Not many around. Had all the others CBR1000 hurricane, R1s etc over the years but the CX650 turbo is far the best. Happy days my friend. Stay safe.

      Wow that's where I got my 'c' plate 125x from, I thought it was around £1100 though. The honda MTX125 and yamaha DT125 were the obvious alternatives, but because I am 6ft 2in the higher seat height of the Suzuki made it the obvious choice - I think it was the most expensive of the three bikes though maybe by about £100. Colin Gregory's was joined (part of) to a much larger building that I think was or became a tyre change place. I think it was called Ward's garage at one point. Around 15 or 16hp if you knocked out the 12hp restriction washer from the front of the exhaust - I guess everybody did this!

    I bought mine in 1990. I traded my DT50 in at Coombe Valley motorcycles, Dover. It was a 'C' 1986 in yellow and blue and i nearly flipped it at the first traffic lights. Think i grinned for weeks. It was stolen after two months of ownership but I've never forgotten the effect that bike had on me.
    I have one that needs restoring in my shed and need to do it. Seeing this lovely example is inspiring so thanks for posting your video.

    I had a C plater. In 88 and it also had a drum brake at the front. My mate had a c plater with the disc at the front. Its called a TS125XUE with the drum front brake. These have rapid acceleration but poor top end but got there fast. No matter what mods i did., it made little difference to performance. Another annoying thing was that you could alter the rear suspension and make the back higher which looked cool. but it sank lower when you sat on it lol. Last year i watched vid cam recordings of my old un and others and the nostalgia was amazing. Pretty sure they only kicked out 12 to 14 hp. As anything higher was illegal for learners to ride on a provisional.

    I had one these. bought it new in 1985 for £995! Mine had a front disc brake. They were popular in my area because they were 125 learner bike restricted to 12bhp but they very easy to convert to European spec to deliver 22bhp and still with great reliability. Even though the suspension was non adjustable it was decent off road even off jumps. I wish I had never sold it. This bike was like the CRF250L of the 80’s but lighter and quicker

      @@SIMONB1 My riding days were over a long time ago. Are you sure yours was an 1996 UK spec? I thought all the UK versions had the front disc brake and were limited to 12bhp learner bike power restrictions? I keep hanging my nose over a CRF450L or a KTM 500 EXC but the Wife has vetoed the purchase and says if you want to go offroading at my age, just get a Jeep Wrangler:-) The only issue is that these run you more than $50,000 plus all the extras you know you are going to want even if you never need them.
      Have you still got your TS125X?

  • @richs3528
    @richs3528 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I had a 'C' plate TS125X at 17 years old, they were never 20bhp though. 12bhp was standard as that was all a learner motorcycle (125cc max) could output before passing your full test. I did derestrict mine as it was as simple as removing the exhaust and knocking out a washer that reduced the diameter of the exhaust right at the point of the exhaust to engine flange. I think power was meant to go up slightly to around 15 or 16 bhp. 65 to 70mph on the clock with your head down a bit! Maybe even 75mph down a hill with a following wind and lying prone! Sorry I said 75 down a hill when I should have off a cliff - and still with a following wind!

    Hi Simon, great video. I bought a black 1986 TS 125 X edition (survivor; original unrestored) with disk brake in the front imported from Swiss (living in the Netherlands). Rare bike never saw one for sale here. Awesome bike also completely original including all original documentation and original keys, almost done bringing it back to life as in new spark plug, liquids, air filter, battery etc. Do you happen to have an adress for parts? NOS or aftermarket, any ideas are welcome. Also, do you happen to know the original size main jet fitted in the original flat side 24mm Mikuni out of the factory? Thanks and cheers!

      Hey up , sounds like a great bit of kit, parts , depends what parts your after, consumables eBay possible could be your best friend, the jet I don't know, doing a Google search carb repair kit is showing a 135 as a main jet, hope that helps, ride safe, Simon B 😎

      @@SIMONB1 Thanks; 135 stock indeed. Mounted a twin air filter (for a ts 125 r which fits) and a 140 main jet; runs like a charm first kick/ Enjoy yours and stay safe as well!

      So I picked up the little RA125. It only had 4500km on it. Pretty corroded on bare metal but everything that was painted is mint. I'll need to redo the brakes and carb and I pray the seals are still good.
