Lyrics:
Better parted
I see people crying
Truth gets harder
There's no sense in lying
Help me find a way from this maze
I can't help myself
When I see tenderness before you left (forget)
That even breaking up was never meant (forget)
But only angels look before they tread (forget)
Living in another world to you
Living in another world to you
Living in another world to you
Better parted
I see people hiding
Speech gets harder
There's no sense in writing
Help me find a way from this maze
I can't help myself
When I see tenderness before you left (forget)
That even breaking up was never meant (forget)
But only angels look before they tread (forget)
Living in another world to you
Living in another world to you
Living in another world to you
Help me find a way from this maze
I'm living in another world to you
And I can't help myself
Did I see tenderness where you saw Hell? (forget)
Did I see angels in the hand I held? (forget)
God only knows what kind of tale you'd tell (forget)
Living in another world to you
Living in another world to you
Living in another world to you
Love this song! I'm 54 and enjoying Talk Talk again. I'm listening, watching, and enjoying right now (3 Feb 2024) from Christchurch, New Zealand.
I'm only 52 and in Hove, Civilisation!
52 listening on 29/2/2024 from Portugal 🇵🇹 Hello South.
53 still listening and enjoy it! Better like the Radio Music here in Germany! Greetings from here! Whish I could travel to New Zealand! 😉
Same here my friend ❤❤ one of the best bands out there
I am Too in South_West Germany in the Age of 57
Now 59, and I NEVER tire of hearing Talk Talk and Mark’s beautiful voice and soul.
My favourite male voice ever!
Koll ca n helpensjon mye selvfølgelig!?thereven 67
This was music, the 80s was the best.
Mark had one of the best voices. It's a SHAME, such people die. RIP Mark Hollis
I'm 57 for what it's worth...there are not many songs better this. Unless it's another TALKTALK song.
Music used to transcend
Such a very underrated talent such a unique voice ... Mark hollis happy heavenly birthday maestro sadly missed🎵🎵😢😢
❤
Love this song since I was 14. We lived in another world. East Berlin. ❤
I agree, a bit underrated
😍😍😍
En argentina fue furor en todas las emisoras con este tema y asheme@@silvanabongiorno3292
Everyone here should all be proud of yourselves as you have exceptional taste in music.
Mark HOLLIS' voice was the definition of the 80's. Fantastic music. Thank God I lived in that era
Moi aussi.😘🌹🍀🇨🇵
Extremely underrated band.
Amen such a soulful voice / man❤
We glorify the 80's a litlle because it was a time without sorrow, no money problems, cold war ending. Being young that is. However, one thing we had was the music from the 70's and 80's. Those are still the best era's of music ever....period....
We were blessed ❤
RIP Mark - You're dearly missed.
Only just discovered this music and I'm 62. Truly wonderful.
lucky you, listen to their whole catalog, you'll not be disappointed
How did you manage to miss them?! Enjoy :) Hollis was something of a seer, I think.
Hi I recommend a brand new indie song called 'Looking Into The Mirror' By Robert Nix
RIP Mark!!!! Voice of a Generation and Pioneer!!!!
As an introvert, music has always been my escape and solace, and the music that defined me was 80s music, including this marvel from Talk Talk. I may be biased, but the artists, bands and music produced by and in the 80s were genius. For me, nothing compares, and here I am, 55, still living in another world, still listening in total awe.
58,how did i miss them first time around?!
Yo 56, y sí, concuerdo...

Incredibly talented Mark Hollis... unique tunes from one of the best.
Rest easy.
We will continue to enjoy you're music thankyou ❤
Talk Talk disappeared after their prime here in the US. Even MTV's I Want my 80's doesn't play their music. Thank God for TH-cam. I wouldn't even know that Mark Hollis has passed. I know he is there in heaven, right where he should be. RIP.

How do you know he’s in heaven?
You’ve made my life so much richer, thank you
A man singing with PASSION. Its much better than Help by The Beatles.
the music was so great that his singing is frequently overlooked. when it comes with the territory of great composition and lyrics from male groups it's usually overlooked sadly. That voice was a BEAST.
Talk talk songs always make me emotional, they hold such strong power 🥺♥
I was lucky enough to be a teenager in the 80’s. For me Talk Talk were the ultimate, their music fed my soul. RIP Mark you went far too early. Fortunately for us, we still have your music. Thank you!
Simply the best no other band can touch them
Could not agree more. We had a lot of great bands in the 80's but like you Talk Talk touched my soul.
Se fué una de las mejores voces de la música 😪
Una pena, pero está vivo a través de sus canciones 🌷🌷🌷🌷
I couln't agree more.. just an amazing impact, as never could imagine in our time then.... an indelible and precious memory - as it turns out now, having lived a life left a mark that fills you to your soul with nostalgia and a certain kind of happiness at the same time. love it to the bone!
Miss you
Well I am 68 and have been blessed with listening to Mark and Talk Talk for 42 years

The Colour of Spring should be in every serious music lover's collection.
One of the best albums ever made.
Amen to that
Yeah man. Proud owner since day one
It is a desert island jukebox pick for sure.
Yes indeedy !!
This band was so underrated.
Just discovered Talk Talk! Can’t stop listening to them.
Hi I recommend giving a song called 'where I come from' by Robert Nix a listen too(it's on youtube)
Only discovered them properly a year ago. Now one of my favourite bands of all time.

I Can’t Stop To Love ♥️Talk Talk Mark so Genius
What a masterpiece. Thank you Mark!
RIP Mark, your incredible voice and talent were unique in Music.
Rocker Volt probably the most underrated songwriter of all time.
@@ajmoore2201 Not by me.
Mark Hollis really truly does have a face of a "TRUE-angel," and a beautiful voice of one too...
long before he actually becomes ONE.👼
He'll always FOREVER be truly missed, by us ALL...💔😢😭
Rip
I was lucky enough to see them when I was 12 years old at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles and became a life long fan. RIP Mark.
Miss this Band and Mark terribly, M Hollis, I hope you are really enjoying your life away from the fan’s that still love you so much.
It was such smart music...and still is!
Thank the lord for the 80's! It was an awesome time to be a lover of music.
Colour of Spring, what an album!!!
Had the privilege and pleasure of seeing them live, was incredibly good, top musicians.
One of the all time great singers! We miss you Mark!😢
Two of the most underrated bands in the UK…Talk Talk and XTC
throw in Prefab Sprout for the holy trinity
Thankfully I saw Talk Talk live, in 1986, when I was 18 years old. 37 years later, still one of my favourite bands. Mark Hollis was a true genius.
There were so many good singers in the 80s. But you're right, Mark Hollis was up there with the best.
RIP mr Hollis. Absolute genius. Probably.... no. Definitely the best band to ever grace the 80's , to today. Sorly missed.
My boyfriend and I went to four nights on a Duran Duran tour in the 80s. Talk Talk were support and, after seeing four shows, we privately concluded that Talk Talk were the better of the two bands. However, we knew Duran Duran and used to socialise with them at the Rumrunner and at many parties, so we didn't admit our conclusions to them!
Can you imagine Talk Talk doing "Girls on Film" ? Duran Duran were more to the Establishment's taste. Talk Talk had sound morals. (Not to diss your friends. Some of what they did was excellent.)
@@iridescentprism5113 agree
2023 Still listening; good music is timeless 🤘🤘🤘
I heard this in 1986. I went to the shop to get Talk Talk albums. I played those cassettes for decades until they and the hifi cassette player ended their lives. Thank god for TH-cam to bring these songs back to me.
Mark your voice is AMAZING! And you are an GENIUS. Sing with the Angels love ❤
i had to pause it at 1.41 to see Marks beautiful smile...so nice to see him happy
The album, that this song is on, The Colour of Spring, is an absolute writing and sonic masterpiece. One of those albums you play through time and time again.
Hi I recommend a song called 'Where I Come From' By Robert Nix
RIP Mark Hollis
So ist es 🙏🏼👍
Mark Hollis is just now being recognized as the genius he has always been - this video is iconic, misunderstood when it first debuted but now a recognized masterpiece
Hi I recommend an indie song Called 'Looking Into The Mirror' by Robert Nix
No. Many knew of Mark's genius back in the eighties. Mark was well respected and admired by his peers
@@skygazer6898 I understand that but Mark Hollis and Talk Talk were generally ignored in the 80s (except for "It's My Life") Their label, EMI, did not do a good job of promoting outside of UK and Europe - Mark fought with them constantly over creative and marketing issues and the band suffered as a result. Artistically, they were admired and respected yes, but they never really "broke" outside of Europe.
@@rustybearden1800 Talk Talk achieved success in the UK & Europe with Life is what you make it & Living in another world. Yes, it did all go a bit pear-shaped towards the end of the eighties due to issues with EMI
@@rustybearden1800 Yeah exactly, lots of people know about It's My Life, the Party's Over, and even Colour of Spring (and they are good tracks/albums), but when you start veering into Spirit of Eden and Laughing Stock, people lose interest. Those last two albums definitely aren't as "big tent" as their more commercially successful albums, but I think they are Talk Talk's/Hollis' best works.
The harmonica has never been used in a better way, ever
Oh, yeah, by Stevie Wonder. But this one's also extraordenary.
Now 2023! I can honestly say if it hadn’t been for Mark Hollis rest in peace plus the rest of this band and songs my life would’ve been a lot less worthwhile and filled with beauty than Thank God it has. And that harmonica too!
Good night, Stu X
A beautiful comment.
The video clip is interesting: it shows just how much the band was not interested in anything commercial. You have this out-of-this-world, extraordinary, heavenly song with this buffonesque video in the background. Weird and beautiful. One of the very best song of the 80s.
He was gorgeous. That smile could light up a room, and his music could touch the coldest soul
Yes you are right I believe he could bring a tear of joy to a glass eye, and break the heart of a stone with those vocals the gentleman was truly outstanding 🌹🏴x
And I love this man 🌹🏴x
He was gorgeous . You're right
Yes he was
You said it honey. Beautiful smile. An angel and a genius. His music is timeless.
Nice to see Mark smile
I was working in one of Vancouver's best record stores when this album came out & we played the shit out of it. So much love!!

Mark Hollis RIP...but graces all of us with his eternal exquisite brilliance in song..maybe Rest in Glory..is more apropos ..
The more I hear the songs of Talk Talk, the more I realize they were one of the best bands ever and their songs will live on forever
Yes they had something in advance of their years, but here we are listening to this wonderful arrangement of this song, only heard here on You Tube, hear it on the radio, excuse me, most of the presenters would have never heard pf Talk Talk so, I never bother with the radio
I am very much with you on that, mainstream radio is so boring for any one now likes anything away from the mainstream.
Timeless.............
True, I was 17 when they released their 1st album. Incredible but too short a career, so complex, mélodious though, their concert was out of this world without any spécial effect. Sweating all. Marvellous
Agree with you. Timeless music.
Rest in peace!!! Mark Hollis
Thank You Talk Talk. Mark Hollis. A Genius…….RIP you beautiful soul. You will be always missed but never ever forgotten. LEGEND ❤❤❤. Portugal 🇵🇹 Loves U

No decade, the best. Like the 80's. Music, television, Media, Entertainment. Vehicles. Etc. I wish we could time travel.
His voice still sends shivers up my spine ... so haunting & melancholy. 💖
Probably the best male rock singer of all time.
such a fuckin masterpiece, talk talk was the top end of their time.
Tal cual la voz es increíble tanto que no parecía que estuviera habitando dentro de él. No me canso de escucharlo es tan absolutamente diferente a todo lo demás .
Indeedy..... raw talent

Mark was a genius, sadly in the 80s it was one of many. Life without Talk Talk would be crap.
The 1980's found in me, a severely depressed young man. Talk Talk helped me through it. Thank you Mark!

@@antonmk1244 It's a song for all of humanity or at least a reasonable % of it.
Me too. I think the 80s found countless severely depressed young men and women. I particularly remember a quote from Jarvis Cocker - something about how he metaphorically closed the curtains and just waited for it to all go away.
Just FABULOUS !!! I went back in time...16 years old for a few minutes and I am 53...What a voice, I LOVE IT !!!

A lot of people are still watching ! This album "The Colour of Spring" is absolutely timeless. A bought it in 1986 when I was 15 years old and it is still a source of inspiration. That particular group was above fashion. Ths and RIP Mark Hollis
I also bought the album in ' 86...... I was 14 and I still listen !!!
I was 17, listened to it to death. It was the intricacy of the music that got to me- so multi layered. Funny thing though, I was the only one of my friends who rated them.
Best song of the 80's !!
My neighbours loved this song so much they threw a brick at my window to hear it better.

In Russia it sounds like "neighbours are knocked the wall at 3 a.m. for asking to make it louder" (Sorry for my English)
I have listened to their music since it came out. Not continuously, as I have to go to work.
