    7:43 nitrogen is not introduced to the air. air is almost 78% nitrogen. nitrogen generation system or inert gas gen sys basically separate the nitrogen from the oxygen and other gases via air separation module. OEA oxygen enriched air is vented in the atmosphere while the NEA nitrogen enriched air is supplied to the ullage space of the fuel center tank to prevent fire or explosion.

    The X-feed valve is to cross feed the fuel. You cannot transfer fuel between fuel tanks in flight on the 320 (on ground however, there is a procedure).

    The X FEED as the name says, is for cross-feeding, i.e feeding the engine with the opposite side tank. It has nothing to do with fuel transfer.

    If i am not wrong.MODE SEL(AUTO) is for the center tank as the fuel from the center tank is consumed first and if the pumps are ON there may be cavitation inside the pumps which can damage the pump if the whole fuel from center tank is consumed so in order to stop the pump after the fuel is consumed the p/b should be in auto position. Correct me if i am wrong.

    The x-feed valve is controlled by two motors. I think... 😆

    If you are flying and loose ALL fuel indications, safest option would be to divert (a possible leak cannot be detected in time in this case). Making a risk assessment, if your fuel consumption had been regular till that moment, based on the residual duration of the flight you can continue to destination. This failure is a threat but not an imminent one. So maybe LAND ASAP amber. What are you thoughts?

    • @Captain_SQ
      @Captain_SQ  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I like your thought process. At the same time, is there anything in the QRH that can assist us with no fuel indication?

      @@Captain_SQ Hi thanks for the reply. I found that low level sensors are independent from the rest of the system. So assuming it is not failed, it triggers the signal when fuel quantity in "one wing tank goes below 750kg". According to the sequence by selecting MODE SEL to MAN we can empty completely the CTR tank first. Then when the level of the inner tanks reach 750kg we would have fuel flowing from OUTER tanks to INNER tanks. At that point when we have FUEL LOW LVL ECAM alert we are left with 750kg per wing in total. Meaning roughly 36min of Endurance. In this condition FUEL LOW LVL would be the only alert available to detect a leak (if the alert triggers too early according to the estimate consumption based on the flight plan). Another way to detect a leak besides the visual indication from the wing would be to monitor FF and N1 during the flight (assuming FUEL IMBALANCE is inoperative in this example) which can only detect leaks located in engine area. So as the only indication is FUEL LOW LVL you may end up discovering too late that you have one because you do not have any mean to early detect the problem untill maybe it too late. What is your feedback?

    • @Captain_SQ
      @Captain_SQ  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Good observation. Indeed the LO LVL warning is totally independent from the displayed indication of the tank. In the QRH, there is a circuit breaker reset for the FQIC. That could help.

    When on ground and there is a fuel imbalance between the left and right wing and the fuel values differentiate more than allowed, is the following procedure allowed or how does it work?
    FUEL XFR ……….………….ON
    R TK PUMPS 1 & 2………ON (assuming they were off already)
    This should override the APUs draining of the L wing TK and feed it from the R wing TK instead, right?

    • @Captain_SQ
      @Captain_SQ  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      APU fuel line is on the left and it will only consume 130kg per hour. Not significant.

    MODE SEL: To manually open the center tank valves and transfer fuel from the center to inner tank. To prevent overflow we must also select it to OFF when the inner tank is full or when the center tank is empty.

    • @Captain_SQ

      @@Captain_SQ That’s what I was thinking, but I remember reading the FCOM a few days ago and it said “OFF”. I think the button itself is in the AUTO position, but the action leads to turning off the jet pump and stopping the fuel transfer 😁
