I’m trying to come off tramadol after taking them for a back injury that happened at work. It’s horrific. Can’t sleep or sit still. Am out of my mind and emotional and I’ve only gone down to 4. These drugs should never be prescribed for long periods of time . The withdrawal symptoms are so scary. I feel derranged and not in control. I don’t know how I’m getting through this

I have been on tramadol for 16 years three times a day 50 mg. I did wean myself down to two a day about 5 years ago and then I tried to go down to one a day but then I couldn't function with my pain. I feel that tramadol has been a lifesaver for me I broke my back and suffered permanent nerve damage, especially down my left leg and foot. I function pretty normally at least I've been able to work and live as a normal human being for the most part. I do not take it with food.

What a really amazing attitude my friend. You should be so proud of yourself. I abused tramadol for 4 years, not for physical pain but mental. Far far from boasting I was taking 50 to 60, 50mg a day and was taking by ambulance to hospital twice, with my border collie saving me twice by alerting my family to the fact that I wasn't breathing. I did quit cold turkey which honestly was extremely difficult in a lot of ways. I personally wouldn't recommend this drug for mental reasons because although the first year or two left me floating in the clouds, the next two left completely withdrawn from life, not engaging with anybody and spending up to 23 hours a day in bed. Constipation was horrific, going about 8 or 9 days without passing stool, and I ended up using suppositories which is not pleasant to say the least. Off them six weeks now and can never say definitively I won't return, but I feel so much better now and my sleep is slowly returning to normal and have immensely more energy now. Drugs are bad, OK, 🤔. 😁.

@@johnking6501 Dear John. As I said before it all depends on the person that's taking Tramadol. On the one hand, it depends on the results of your kidneys' and your liver's blood tests. On the other, it depends also on your weight -mine is 114 kg-. Other things to take into consideration: your age, the pain you feel, the kind of job you have, whether or not there is another way to relieve the pain or get rid of whatever is causing it, and your doctor's advice. Trust me when I say your doc is the one who knows your health the best.
I wish I could have helped you somehow but sadly I'm not the one who could. Hope your doc finds a way to ease your pain, John. Hugs from Barcelona, Spain.

Been taking Tramadol with Naproxen 3/6 days per week for 10 years now (once a day, although prescribed twice daily if need be). Been an absolute god send, reduces my lower back pain by around 80%...........if I`m taking for longer than 2 days on the trot, effectiveness is slightly reduced. If back pain is improved, I have no problem in stopping for say a week, I have no withdrawal symptoms whatsoever and the only downside is occasional very mild nausea. Maybe I`m one of the fortunate few, but basically its a win win for me.............

I take Tramadol, 150mg modified release, maybe 2 to 5 times per week (depending on the pain), although I'm actually allowed to take it up to twice a day! (14 doses per week), along with 500mg Naproxin tablets (which I always take with the Tramadol)........I find if I take both more than two or three days in a row the effect reduces. After ten years I feel I have no dependency and if I'm not in pain I have no desire to take them. I'm afraid I have no knowledge of the other medications you mention. So in my opinion I'd suggest taking the Tramadol/Naproxin combo and see how it goes. Best of luck........

This video is very useful, thank you so much. I cant find decent info on tramadol and tolerance because the stories are all about 'addiction'. I know first hand there is a huge difference. I've been on 100mg slow release for 8 years - and yes, thats a long time, my body has built a tolerance but I am not mentally addicted to it. I want to and will stop but like you said the withdrawal is excruiating and I need a doctor to work with me to give me meds to make that period less of a hell. It really does help me the best with the pain, that is for sure as well, really shame about the withdrawal, otherwise for me, best medication ever. (have not tried weed, one day I hope)

You are on a very low dose, talk to your Dr. I am prescibed 400 mg in 24 hours. I rarely take that much, but my pain varies with my activities. During part of Covid lock down I only took 50 mg in 24 hrs because I did nothing during that time.

@@suesmith5746 Thanks for sharing your story! Doctors in my country are very reluctant about tramadol. In fact when I tell them I've been using it for a while, they go crazy, telling me it is only meant for 'cancer' patients! Thankfully my GP knows me and my long history better and she does prescribe me 200mg (max she can go) but Im afraid she'll one day react like all the other doctors and put me on the nightmare meds of pregabalin/ gababentin/antidepressants/nsaids. Also some months I can't find it in any pharmacy so thats very stressful too. Wish you the best!

@@eastwest1640 I am now on day 22 of my tramadol withdrawal and it is still ongoing but I can say that the low dose tramadol I was taking was not helping with the pain at all. During the withdrawal, pain is ... .well very very strange. It's worse, it's different, then it gets better, then it doesn't, then it's true hell, then your brain takes over (or I'm guessing it does, also mentally - wow, I was not expecting such mental hell) but my expectation of 'tramadol is my forever best friend for pain' is so far turning out to be false. My body was addicted to it, so I gave it its poison, but it wanted more and more. Withdrawal is hell; I don't think I'll ever go back to using tramadol, unless really well controlled and for a short time or if I'm terminally ill tbh, this withdrawal HELL is not worth it.

Hi.i have 2 spinal cord injuries and degenerative lower back pain going on.I take one 200mg SRT only once a day when I feel the pain gets to much or I can wake up with very bad pain and take it right away.in the begging I could take Tramadol without feeling nausea or sick but I hate feeling like I wanna throw up so I tried anti nausea meds that does work but it also has its side effects...The best thing to do for me before taking my 200mg Tramadol a day is to eat and have a FULL stomach and then take my Tramadol. For me it takes away 90% of the nausea sometimes 100%.Try to have a full stomach and see if it helps you.I use to take four 50mg tablets over the howl day but found later taking 200mg once a day works for me and I normally wait for the pain to be at a 5 to 6 out of 10 then I take the 200 SRT table.

For the past 8 years, I’ve been taking 300 mg a day of Tramadol (2x150 capsule) because of a back injury. A lot of the pain is actually in my feet. I would not be able to teach for eight hours a day without this medication. Interesting thing I’ve noticed about tramadol is that it seems to have a bit of an antidepressant component to it. The main side effect for me is memory loss. I do worry about my liver, but I also need to have a life.

The medicine topic is more crucial to the world's well-being than most people realize. I have grown poppies for a few years now, and consider it a tragedy that most people have been estranged from this great medicinal plant. Human beings in general may be more opium-dependant than is acknowledged. Poppies make a night and day difference in my ability to function in this body, and actually live more full/thorough days, do work, exercise, etc....
For years i regularly exercised and practiced discipline in various forms, without opium or any opiates (having steered away from such substances after high school). Never did i reach the same level of sustained health/function without poppies/opium that i experienced once i began growing and taking them.

Tramadol fucking sucks both medically and recreationally, dude go tell your doc that you're physically dependent on the tramadol and wanna get off, tell him you wanna try suboxone (even if you really don't need it because tramadol is so weak), this will be 1000 times better because bupenorphine is far more effective for pain, it doesn't cause seizures like tramadol does and it's a long lasting opioid that you can take like once every 30 hours.
Or get some kratom, because that shit is still 20 times better for chronic pain than tramadol is and is also less likely to induce seizures, tramadol can cause seizures even in people who aren't prone to them.
Get off this garbage it's a dirty drug and again ITS NOT EVEN GOOD FOR CHRONIC PAIN AT ALL, you have multiple other options right at your feet, options that will actually do something for your pain and have far less side effects.
