Good info. On my 2015 Lariat the driver side bottom back seat stays up but you have to push hard. It also has a release handle that I didn't see on yours.
Thanks, Dude! I had gone to my dealership and they had no idea. So, followed your advice and after a few hours found the latch and the seat fell forward. I improvised a hook to open with a clothes hanger so I could open the seat again easily but also had to improvise a ‘pull’ to be able lock the latch from below because, for some reason, it wouldn’t engage to lock when pushed close on my 2019 f150 xlt SuperCab. Nonetheless, I am delighted to have sorted it and found a little extra storage space. Thanks for your work, Dude!

Glad I could help! I feel your pain! I think I spent more time watching videos that never mentioned the one thing, that damn bracket that locks you out! Thanks for watching and subbing!
The info about the latch being INSIDE the two outer bracket rails is crucial to releasing the latch with a box-end wrench! Thanks for including that little tidbit! As far as extending the release pull, all I did was use bailing wire. I looped it over the latch pin, then twisted to form a loop around the pin. Then continued to twist the wire up towards the top of the seat. Then I used the original little strap Ford had on there and twisted the 2 ends around it to use as the finger pull. To keep it up and accessible I just ran a 6" strip of Velcro hook horizontally over the strap on that fuzzy material on the back of the seat. It keeps it there when you slam the seat back into position.
Sounds like you got it figured out! Great job! those bracket rails really kicked my butt for well over and hour! Glad I could help and thanks for watching!!
Dang but I do miss my '11 F350 that had a nice lever to release that back seat. Unfortunately that truck went down the road to Copart. The replacement is an F150 with the @#$% no latch handles. You have just saved my neighbors a bunch of strong language. Thanks😎👍 Just a quick update - got mine open as noted but forgot to say how. I have a very late build (September) 2019 F150 Super cab which actually seems to have some 2020 parts. There is a pull tab on the release pin which will not let you put a box end wrench over it. I made up a tool using a 10-12 inch piece of 1/8" round stock I had on hand, bent one end, about an inch long 90 degrees then bent the other end, about 2" also at 90* for a handle of sorts. I was able to slide the shorter end into that tab's loop. A quick yank and it came open. Right now I just have a piece of cord on that latch loop but when (IF?) it warms up, I'll do something better.
I have small hands, but that tiny little button would drive me to distraction. Thank you so much. If I get a truck like this, the closet will have one less hanger and I'll have a pull that will keep me happy.
Thanks for the great video. Mine had a very short strap attached from the factory that I knocked off trying to grasp it. With my endoscope I was able to get a wrench on it. Why Ford didn't do something better is beyond me, maybe on the 2036 models?

I just found your video after watching others for one hour and thought "ok this is the one, my problem is gone" ... Sadly, mine is probably a very limited model with the "We`re going to make you go crazy" release of backseat mechanism! I can`t even put a sheet of paper behind the seat. The only place that could have something go in from the top is blocked by a black plastic part. I tried moving this, prying this. Nothing works. It`s s 2010 with the same doors option.
Im so sorry my video did not help you! I think it is really stupid for the Ford designers to not have that space easily accessible. I glad you found an answer!
Well that's kind of odd and crazy, why would they have not put some type of accessible handle? But who knows with automakers. My Silverado has a big tray under the seat and the bottom just flips up. Another thing with those is the cabin filter, we have nine of those F150's for service trucks, you have to rip trim off and remove the glove box every time to change it, well you know the plastic isn't gonna pop off but so many times without damaging it, why not make it accessible lol.

Also, what will happen if I remove the factory sub box under the back seat? Will I lose all sound? I really hate that box being there..
I have no idea if the setup is the same for the 07, I hope this helps! AS for the sub, you will loose your bass tones if you remove it but there will still me some from the remaining speakers just not very much. thanks for watching!
What year is your truck because I’ve been trying on my f150 and I still haven’t been able to get it and I’m wondering if it’s a different year/model, mine is a 2011 XLT supercab? I feel like it should be roughly the same and your truck looks the same as mine, but I’m not sure?
check to see if the latch is open, if the latch is open spray a little WD40 on it then slam the seat back firmly. hope that helps! thanks for watching!
For those that run into this issue, you likely need to move the "bar" on the bracket either up or down. In my case, it usually needs to be moved DOWN a bit to make it work every time I open it.

I just received an email saying that due to supply chain issues they have yet to start production on our van, but we are almost ready to put our house on the market and get on with the Barndo build.
@@DudeRV Here is there US website... looks like they distribute and brand/rebrand overland camping things like the kitchen and cargo drawers. They are not weight conscious so you have to be careful with the transit GVWR... I found for my Nissan NV200 steel undermount desk drawers were very light and great for a kitchen... I got mine for $10 at a used office supply store.
@@mfsolutions Sweet! only problem is that Google or TH-cam is filtering out the website! ARGHH! reach out to me at DudeRVtexas@gmail.com Thanks so very much!
Good Work DUDE!
Thanks! and thanks for watching!
I found it there is a lever on my 2017 f 150 that the strap hooks on to and pulls toward front passenger seat not like the hook up on the driver side
I glad to hear that you sorted it out! sorry for the delay in reply, we are traveling and shooting some video. thanks for watching!
Thank you.
I am so glad I could help! Thanks for watching and subbing!
Add F-150 rear seat cover to your title, thanx Dude!

Many thanks dear Dude,

Definately think the Ford engineers could have thought that through a little better. Now makes me think how my F350 flips that seat down lol...Hmmmm Happy Camping!!
I am wondering if there was really any thinking going on! If your 350 has a split back seat, you have the same option.
It`s s 2010 with the same doors option.
yeah. It`s because 2010 are like the 2006 for this. Just found it here th-cam.com/video/5cadt0N4M5g/w-d-xo.html
Im so sorry my video did not help you! I think it is really stupid for the Ford designers to not have that space easily accessible. I glad you found an answer!
The magic wand believe it or not
If only I had known that I needed a magic wand when I started this quick little project!! Thanks for watching!!
AH to be an engineer! make decisions that will affect millions of peoples lives but never take into consideration those millions of people only the data. thanks for watching!!
Have u thought about gluing a magnet on the back to hold that wire you added?
I had not though of that! what an excellent suggestion! thanks for watching!
I have been trying to find a way to get my back seat down for the last 5 years, no joke. I have bloodied my hand so many times trying to reach it behind on search of a mechanism of some kind.
I have a 07 f150 lariat supercab. I am going to give this a shot for the 100th time. If anyone has any recommendations, please reply.
White Lighting is a 2018. I really dont know if the set up is the same. Im so sorry I cant be of more help!
Once they go up how do u get them BACK DOWN
I dont understand what you are asking.
I put my back seats up so I can carry something big on my 2021 Ford f150 now the seats won't go down so u can sit on them??
The book doesn't even say it
@@49lucky On my truck you have to pull the handle on the end of the seat forward/down
I somehow accidentally pulled the seats down like you showed and now I can’t get them to lock back in place. Any advice?
check to see if the latch is open, if the latch is open spray a little WD40 on it then slam the seat back firmly. hope that helps! thanks for watching!
@@DudeRV the latch was open, but I’ll try the WD40, thanks!
@@taylorarnold1213 there may be an alignment issue.
For those that run into this issue, you likely need to move the "bar" on the bracket either up or down. In my case, it usually needs to be moved DOWN a bit to make it work every time I open it.
Ummm, yeah doesn't work on my end with exact problem, and my hands are tiny...the tool nor my hands fit back there to slide ANYWHERE behind that area.
Im sorry to hear that you are struggling with it! I know I did too! thanks for stopping by!

Thanks! I finally found a supercab vid!!! I hate freaking crewcabs with a passion! Crewcabs are poser trucks!

Holy Cacamole! Someone who speaks english and is not full of caca in the pants! Thank you so much for that expert explanation with a view!!!
so glad I was able to help! thanks for watching and subbing!
Ford should have put a release strap on these seats from the factory! Or,at least show us in the owners manual how to do it.
Something! Anything would be an improvement! Thanks for watching!
I went through this. Figured it all out then never touched it again.
That is funny! I have stuffed all of my bug out and emergency gear into that space. Truly surprising how much space is back there! thanks for watching and most of all thanks for being The Paterion!
@@DudeRV best money I ever spent. 👍👍👍👍
put years 2009+ in title so people don't have to search through a million videos to find theirs
actually this hack works on more years than that. thanks for watching!
What year truck????
mine is a 2018 my understanding is that this works for years back to at least 2013.
There is literally no space at all behind my rear seat, and my head ready don’t have the buttons to fold them
Im sorry to hear that! Thanks for watching!
You need to tell the year. Mine is not that.

didn't work for me not enough room to even get my hand down in between the back seat
I have never been able to get more that my fingers back there until I found the latch with the wrench. Thanks for watching!

That could be said about a whole lot of things they do! Thanks for watching!
Please learn how to get to the point.
considering my video is shorter than most on this topic I think I did pretty good. thanks for watching!
Considering that the method you discribing doesn't apply to all F series pick-ups, your video will be more helpful if you could of included the year model of your truck. Thanks anyway.
