I'm 40 and I love classic Imperials and Chryslers like this. I currently own and drive a 2017 300S and a 2018 Pacifica S. Now I'm looking at being different and daily driving a classic like this here around the Seattle area. No one drives these anymore. I want to be that guy who drives these beautiful prices of art in my city. Imperials to me are the best of the 60s and early 70s.
What a beautiful car. Back in my teen years I had a '68 also. Got 10mpg at best & could fit 10 people inside, but still my favorite all time car! Thanks for the memories...
Without a doubt that was not your ordinary product of Chrysler, as a kid i remembered how expensive these cars were! They were big and plush.God they were great American Cars!
Saw one of these at a Palm Springs restaurant a few years back. Convertible in white with a green top and green interior. Looked like it just left the dealership as a brand new car. I've always loved Imperials.

High torque starter motor... For a period of time in the 2000s or 10s,, don't remember which, they had the sound back for a time, but it's gone again now...
Absolutely stunning example here. I do take exception to “factory original Michelin bias ply tires” on a ‘68 Imperial. Maybe glass belted Polyglas, or something such, but NO to oem Michelin bias ply. Ain’t any such thing in ‘68. That’s forgiven however, for bringing this beauty to TH-cam for us to drool over!
That's funny, I know exactly the car you're speaking of with the horizontal taillights, yeah. Personally, I'm partial to the 69-71 coupe. They made the Chrysler in a convertible version, and it's a bit of a letdown the Imperial wasn't available as such, because I love one of those. That would be my ultimate classic to own.
Have a Travco motorhome with the 440-3 in it. It has just over 26K on the odometer and has always been in the family- a friend wanted to see it, so I took him out to the hanger and he was blown away- as it idled, the engine was not even rocking.
... strikingly nice looking paint color ... 1967 and 1968 Imperials exterior styling was much more corporate Chrysler looking but still had distinctive, superb interior styling from dash fascia to door panel to steering wheel with exquisite detail, detailing and quality of fittings and finishes ... the LeBaron roof styling was singularly distinctive to the 1967 and 1968 model year Imperials ... this is a very nice looking, well preserved and thankfully well cared for example of a 1968 Imperial LeBaron ... back in the early 1980's while walking an auto junk yard I came across a triple black 1968 Imperial LeBaron laying on it's roof in the dirt and weeds ... that was a sad sight ... happily this 1968 Imperial LeBaron has fared much better ... happily not condemned to being gutted out and stupidly demolished via demolition derby or ending up as a wrecking / scrap yard derelict ...
... 1967 and 1968 Imperials exterior styling became / was too staid compared to 1961 -- 1966 Imperials ... the one year only 1967 and then one year only 1968 front end grille treatment perhaps should have been a two year unchanged Imperial styling effort based on / more alike / derivative of the 1964 Imperial split grille concept ... however 1967 and 1968 Imperial tail light styling and bumper design was / is strongest exterior styling element of these two Imperial model years ... 1961 thru 1968 Imperials were when new and still remain iconic American luxury automobiles ... these Imperials are so very worthy of being saved, collected, restored and preserved... too many have been become lost to demo derby willful ignorance or heedless junking and the scrappers crusher ... we will not see automobiles as these 1960's Imperials were / are being built by Detroit ever again ...

Yes there have been so many Imperials wrecked at 'derbys'. Its high time this ceased Right Now !! These are cars that America can be proud of as a product of the times. Well designed, well built and should be cherished as being from a time when there was enough money to be able to do that. You knew You would be owning a great car !. This was the last flourish of real quality. Times change and standards too, but Imperials were right up there amongst the very best marques in the whole world.
+MungoidHen ... my family moved off a small Wisconsin dairy farm to a small WI city in 1967... a local funeral home owner had a1964 Imperial which I was able to observe from afar and sometimes close up ... after graduating from high school in 1973 ( same year of 1st so called " gas crisis " ) in the fall of that year I came across a 1965 Imperial LeBaron for sale at a Buick dealer with tires piled in it on the ivory leather seats... I bought it for $400 and enjoyed cleaning it up and driving it around town ... from then on I eventually also owned a 1964 Imperial Crown Coupe purchased for $300, a 1966 Imperial Crown sedan and also came across another 1965 derelict Imperial LeBaron in a junk yard which I purchased and brought home. Owned a 1964 Chrysler New Yorker Salon purchased for $400. In late 1970's I had an opportunity to buy a barn kept, nice 1968 Imperial Crown convertible for $800 ... but did not ...less than 500 68's built by Imperial ... I know about 1960's Imperials ;-)

the TNT was different the magnum and the Super Commando had hydro. lifters the TNT were Solid lifters and i can not remembers for HP i do know the Imp.s numbers were deflated for the insurance problems i think the Imp. had 375 hp the Imp. was not a Chrysler motor there was a difference i worked for Chrysler at the time and there was a lot of Hype about the Imp.s they were not a good money maker for Chrysler

Just gorgeous, wowwww! Original owner? Amazing! I would love to drive it just a mile or two. It must feel like a new car! And its been kept clean and garaged obviously... The only "tick" I'd give it is the tires need to be cleaned preferably with a product called Bleech White for the whitewalls. It's an amazing product I've used my whole life detailing cars. I know there's a slew of detailing products on the market now, but for that one item I stick with the best.
Seems kinda weird to order a Le Baron, load it with goodies, auto dimming, twilight sentenal but NO TILT wheel? Most also had leather. Nice car, just weird lack of options. I had a '67 with dual a/c with auto temp, tilt cruise and all other available options. HUGE boat.

Honestly this car is not a stripper by any means. Back then, I would have thought missing the vinyl roof was blasphemy, but I guess by today's standards I really like it without. Actually modern cars would protect the passengers inside. Sadly these classics everyone would probably die or get severely damaged. Big and strong yes, safety is missing. Not safe against any modern car of today.
Beautiful car. I prefer the 1960's models over the later ones. I cringe when I see the old Mission Impossible and Mannix episodes where they trashed these cars.
+llg114 It's known as a 4 door hardtop sedan, a very popular body style from of the 1960's in the USA. Began to disapear in the 1970's due to safety concerns.
I always find it interesting that someone would order such an expensive car, and NOT get A/C or tilt wheel. Seems to have all the rest of the goodies. Didn't show the radio, either.
And it had to end up in stupid Canada...If Chrysler made a modernized version of this car today (like Toyota Century), it would put the company back on the map and in the black.
This was my first car not the le baron just an Imperial holley double pump carb, 8 miles to the gallon and fast only thing in didn't pass was a gas station
The leBaron was the top of the line, in '68 they made a base Imperial (without the Crown or leBaron designation) that was the base model, still if you went to a dealer and ordered one without power windows etc, they'd probably tell you to get lost. . You can find it on the Imperial club website in the 1968 sales brochure. Still a head turner thought...This one has air and all the power options...In my experience you see the leather seats in the coupes and convertibles...
At the time in great Britain we where driving around in mini's if we where lucky and British motoring journalists had the nerve to lampoon American cars sheer snobbery a pharmacist in the UK would have had no hope of ever owning a car of this status unless he owned a large company
K. R. V. 50-y/o tires would be oxidized and dangerous, even if kept in a dark garage. Rubber is best kept in shape by using it. Those tires are not original. Any 50-y/o tire that had 27,000 miles would be highly worn; those tires showed new tread.
Those ain't the OE tires... But I'd bet they are replacements that were mounted no later than the Eighties... The originals had a 1/4" pinstripe, a 1" stripe and then another inner 1/4" white stripe.
Can you imagine opening your garage every day and seeing this beauty? WOW, talk about making your day.

My cousin's grandfather had a beautiful Lapis Blue 67 Le Baron... It was beautiful..... I would get new tires, that is dangerous....

They were rated at 350 HP. The single exhaust model had a milder cam compared to the 440 Magnum/Super Commando/TNT which was rated at 375 HP.

Its kinda nice to see one that is modestly equipped. There is something to be said for a spartan ambience in a top of the line car.

I look at Imperial and I think anyone could drive a Cadillac or a Lincoln but Imperial is a step above. That’s how I feel about it you may not.

It's a four door hardtop. They were very common in the 60s. Very beautiful and elegant. Unfortunately, the Ralph Nader laws killed them.

The OE tires were 3 stripe white wall. Check the Trmain commercial on TH-cam to verify.
