I have the little board from Home Assistant's matter workshop hanging around wondering what I could do with it. Looks like you can also order samples and mass produce. Matter over Thread LED controllers.
Thanks, what do you mean? This is Matter over Wifi example, Wifi is how it connects to the Matter Hub. When you add it to your Matter Hub the hub takes care of sharing the wifi details to the device, you don't need to do it.
I am with you on the garage door project. However, the Matter team has not moved yet on implementing the Garage Door Device Type into the protocol. So, for now, you would only be able to make an inching dry contact switch for the door button. It would likely not be able to display as a 'Garage Door' in HomeKit like a real Matter Device Type should once implemented.
Yes, I am thinking about the same. A simple switch with inching. It would be good enough until the proper device type is added to Matter. I mean this is such a basic thing, I don't understand why this was in included in the beginning.
Excellent tutorial, just a question, can we add an RF remote or IR remote to this same project? and if so how. Great advantage when no wifi is available
Seems to be the best route to realise these kind of projects in the future!
So far almost looks too good to be true.
Just what I was looking for and well explained thank you
I'm excited to try this with a couple cheap ESP32 boards and LED light strips. Move over WLED, Matter is coming for you.

I have seen the WS2821 tempate and was wondering what it can do. I have not seen much effect support in Google so far. So one more project to try.
Cool tutorial!! Maybe I missed it, but u should include how to add BLE/WiFi to the board as well after the project firmware is uploaded to the ESP.

I am in email discussion with the Espressif team, they are working on a solution now to implement inching for a simple switch.
Yes, it would be just like a simple switch or plug. So you would not be able to say "open the garage door", only "turn on the garage door" 😀

This zero code environment is completely closed, it only has the functionality that you see in the app, and there is no option to add anything more.
@@csongorvarga Thank you
hi, did you find out if the relay can be switched on for a short time
No, I got a few emails from the team, but after some time the responses stopped completely. Probably it is time to email them again.
