    Mike Pearson (former CEO of Valeant Pharmaceuticals) was once heard to say during a TV interview "I'm in the business of shareholder profit not patient health". Fortunately shortly afterwards he was forced to resign over some shady practices that were uncovered. But this is the mentality of most of the people at the top of big business. Pay workers as little as you can get away with, and charge consumers what you think they will bear.

    People often think corporations will create more jobs. In reality, corporations tend to create the minimum number of jobs required. Frequently, they cut jobs and, without proper regulations, may reduce quality-adding one less screw or including a cheaper, potentially toxic ingredient. They don't care if the product harms you 10 years down the line, as long as it brings them profit now. After all, that's the essence of the game they play.

    The thing that kills me most is that this crap is capitalism about as much as Stalin's USSR was communism. Actually, sometimes less so. The system we are working with is not a free market, and it is not even actually capitalism. It is cronyism and opportunism. It's a break down in the basic fabric of society when you have such a massive scale of people coming up with loopholes for bribary. It's actually worse than a society where people just expect bribes are a part of the dynamic and accept it, because at least that's honest. There is nothing honest, open, or forthright about our current power dynamics. And the craziest thing after the whole CEO incident was the realization that the GOP tapped into the working class discontent on their side of the righ-left divide in order to get a populist elected, and yet appear completely oblivious to how much a desire to see it all burn was why they won, and I am going to be incredibly interested to see exactly how that backfires for them.

    I think we need to have warning labels when there are interviews or footage of Mr. Rogers, because I always cry, because he is so missed in my life..
    We are seeing, in real time, the wealthy bleeding this country to death for money.. Why does anyone need $400 billion? It's not like they use even a small portion of that money. Give them a participation award.. 30% tax for earning of $500k to $1million. 40% tax for $1 million to $50 million. 60% for $50 million to $500 million, 75% for $500 million to $999,999,999. Anything over that 100%.. I have no issue with wealth, as long as there is no poverty..

      Because nothing is "free" perhaps? When you say "free" you mean paid for by others. There is nothing "free" in this world. • @Cline3911
      @Cline3911 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@Knight-Bishop To be fair, it depends on where one might live. Most European countries have exorbitant tax rates, at their highest levels approaching 60%. There is a reason Paul Hewson and Gérard Depardieu have fled their respective countries, and implemented many differing tax avoidance schemes. Furthermore, the majority of Western European countries aren't paying for a national defense like the US does. Most Western European countries actually depend on the US for their national defense, and its been that way for decades now. Hell, Ukraine isn't a NATO member state and how many billions have gone to them recently? I'd rather see that money spent on Americans instead of a foreign country that has absolutely zero American interests. If the US decided to dissolve NATO and tell its member states "You're on your own now" and European countries had to actually pay for their national defense, you would see their nationalized healthcare disappear over night. I find it comical that austerity measures are taking place in many countries in Europe due to their unfettered illegal immigration problem. Yet they have "free" healthcare.
      Who would have thought that when you have all these "free" programs, that tons of people will show up (legal or not) and use these programs to the point of financial insolvency? Who knew?

    • @Cline3911
      @Cline3911 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@Perfidion If socialism is so good, why has it been a complete failure everywhere its been implemented? I could give you a list of all the failed socialist and communist states, but don't feel as if I need to continue beating a dead horse. Socialism even failed in North America a couple hundred years before Marx ever wrote anything about it. Perhaps you might want to read about William Bradford and his tenure as governor of the Plymouth Colony. He came to the conclusion, and quickly, that the system of managing said colony, which could be described as socialism to the letter, almost lead to deaths of all the settlers. Decided to end said practice of socialism and the colony flourished. So much so, they paid back their Dutch benefactors early, completely pissing them off in the process, since these bankers couldn't charge the interest they had hoped, and starting what is known as "The Great Puritan Migration". Well that and the holiday of Thanksgiving. And depending on your family history, the Great Puritan Migration may be the reason you're an American, if you are American.

    The Corporate world is no longer being held in check by a Union. Now we are seeing a work force where taking a vacation is rewarded with three times the work load to make up for the loss time. Because one person does the job of two to three. That means NOTHING gets accomplished correctly and everything must be done twice as fast to catch up. What is the point of a vacation?
    Wage gaps increase while Inflation just grows. So Owners and Upper management make the flow adjustments, while the employees work extreme hours with zero support for the things we purchase.
    On the other end of the spectrum, you have the Socialism issues of supporting and rewarding single mothers for terrible decisions. The blatant racism of not treating people as they are not as they should be. If a group of individuals wish to dress, act and be a certain way, its not a race or sex issue. Its a class issue. If that group of individuals wishes to get away with not following the rules of society, then they should suffer the consequences.
    This creates the joke of left vs right arguments ignoring that truly we are all in the same boat. We all want to eat, live in a nice safe place and have a good person by our side. Instead we get poor people fighting under the delusion that left or right is better than the other....

    Most people won't rise up because most people won't choose danger over safety. The question now becomes how unsafe does a person have to feel before they do something to overthrow the established order. Whatever the answer to that question is I am certain that we are getting closer to it everyday.
    Anybody else remember the third Christopher Nolan Batman movie with Bane? While there is satisfaction to be had in watching the scene where the ultra wealthy dragged out of their homes to be thrown in jail or worse, it needs to be pointed out that the terrible conditions of wealth inequality depicted in that movie is what allowed a psychopath like Bane to take over the city and run it as a ruthless dictatorship with the ultimate goal of destroying everybody both rich and poor alike.
    My point is that there is a storm coming if things don't change and keep getting worse but that storm is going to destroy both the rich and the poor, the innocent and the guilty.

    Yes, yes, yes! A very rough ride for H1-B, tariffs and general 2025 protocol. I can tell you that out here in our "petite ville" of northern Maine, close to the "frontiere" of Quebec, we have many prognosticators and 17th century French mystics who're saying the same thing. So, here goes a report from the hinterlands:
    Well, someone has to click the buttons to make sure all our bounty makes it to our local big boxes. So, no progressive reform because any attempt at reform has been as sloppy as a DQ Snowcone slowly melting away in the southern Georgia heat.
    There have been so many proclamations by Trump over the past few weeks that even somone indifferent as myself has to put down the adderall dispenser, 12 pack of discount Bacardi winecoolers, and hot chicken fat herbal infused elixir for my sciatica flare ups and turn on the old black and white Sony with rabbit ears to tune in to the Trumpian style political hoedown.
    I had a very vivid dream last night where I was dressed in a one piece tight spandex leotard with an oversized nightshirt with the heads of Sam Walton and Ronald Reagan emblazoned on the front. I was in Panama standing near the Panama Canal on what was a seemingly beautiful tropical day, when suddenly, I heard the sound of metal on metal and gears grinding to a halt. I looked up to see one of our big ships struggling to make it through that old shipping lane. Big style crates were falling from the deck of the ship into the water and many locals were diving in to rescue our Chinese goodies from water damage. The ship started to spit out an orange colored oil slick. Eventually, the entire crew jumped ship, cocktail waitresses and all, except for our 3 Magi-America's Patriarch, Lord Elon and Dr. Oz. My heart stopped at the sight of the three screaming, "Save our ship, save our ship!" Luckily, my sciatica flare ups weren't so severe due to being in a tropical locale, and so, I quickly pulled out my limited edition mini-Tesla rocket from my knock-off Bournbrook rucksack, lit the fuse with the burning end of my Winchester cigarette and up, up and away I went! Yes, I was a hero as I rescued our 3 Magi from that sinking ship. On the way down, I gently hummed Brahm's "Lullaby" into their sweet little ear drums.

    Unions came under attack during Reagan's administration (air traffic controllers), using that as an indicator there are now less than 5% US workers unionized. It i down from 20% in the 90's. Wage disparity is an indicator of how healthy an economy is performing. States are now a third world country by that indicator. Hard to watch.

    The corporations and the excessive greed of their shareholders and executives are to blame for this. The government is as well because the corporations pay to get them elected, and do little to reign them in. Luigi was not taking revenge against United Health Care for screwing up his back. But he is expressing his frustration for the entire system where the rich keep changing the rules so they keep getting richer.
    You have to admit he did all the right stuff to become a folk hero. Assassins and silencers are popular in the movies. I've seen a dozens of movies with assassins who are the main character lately. Cool, huh?
