  • Tempted to buy a Duracell 660 “gassless generator” at Costco or Amazon? It might be right for you. I bought it for camping and emergencies. I found it's NOT the best thing on the market for camping or van life. Watch this video before making a decision. You'll be glad you did! You'll see what's inside it and what it weighs and learn the different technologies used in MPPT vs PWM solar controllers and LeFePo4 vs AGM batteries too!

    I had power out for 2 days the day mine came in. I didn't even get to fully charge it. I ran 1 freezer, fridge, sump pump, router, camera hub, and basic lights. I charged off my car alternator for less than 2 hours each time it ran dead. Total time running car was 4 hours for 2 days. Very versatile! Definitely worth the $437 off amazon. You can add more batteries. I added a 88ah house battery. So effective wh is now around 800. I plan to add more with separate solar charge contoler. The seemless functionality of this unit is great for the price. It is a watch dog and not just stored away.

    Thanks for the review & critical info, correcting / verifying what the unit can do vs what the Manf. Product AD info states (which always seems misleading or the specs are inflated for better sales) Argh ;(
    I HATE it when a Manf mislabels or misleads consumers!
    Anyways, thank you Brian for your time in making this video. All the very best.

    I'm really surprised they just put a basic $100 wheelchair battery inside it. Looks handy to have all the features but would you be better off with just a deep cycle battery, a cheap 120v inverter, and a solar charge controller/panel?

    Thanks! Very interested to know what these things actually are. If I can find one cheap with a "bad" battery it would probably be a good option for a UPS with solar provisions during the next time the grid fails.

    So got a b grade unit for $299, want to use it to run a few items in a building I'm using for a gym/workshop. My thought is to add a couple of 100 ah agm batteries and hook the solar directly to the batteries to keep them charged. Would it hurt the unit to charge the batteries while they are connected to the unit? Would make it much more funcional to be able to keep the batteries charged.

    • @briansmobile1
      @briansmobile1  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Tony, smart question. Use that built in solar charger you paid for. Those daisy chained agm batteries you're getting will charge off the one in the box. Get the right Anderson connectors and do it like it says to do and you'll be way less likely to burn down your gym. Doing solar straight to the battery is a high risk low reward gamble. Cheap insurance you already paid for.

    These units do not put out a sinusoidal waveform....they , like most smaller generators, put out a distorted waveform which contains lots of distortion and harmonics......this can eat up your surge protectors due to transients, etc.....most generators put out 10 to 30% harmonic fistortion and can be a disaster on electronic equipment.....La Grange, Texas

    1400W? I don't think so. The battery label shows 12V & 55Ah = 660W.
    499$ for that crappy system? You'd do better to buy a different unit that has 4 LiFePo4 280Ah cells in it which would provide you with ~3.6 kWh of energy. 4 cells will cost ~600$ but provide you with 5.43 times more energy.
    Even this batt is a better deal & would provide you with ~2 times more energy:
    th-cam.com/video/irb-vdTnY7M/w-d-xo.html
    Note: But it is only a batt--not a power station...but, you could connect a charger & inverter to it to essentially serve the same functions of that power station.

    These videos are laughable. You guys think the normal person is worried about all your negativity about the unit when they just want to change there devices on camping trip or storm outage. Laughing. Most want to see you plug a refrigerator up and see how long it last. Most of the time 4 to 8hrs is enough for power outage to charge phone and keep lights on without having to run and get gas for generator. Hey great knowledge but it’s not realistic I help with with many disasters and people just want power no matter if it’s not the best
