    If you use it to power your refer, or freezer. Put a timer on it so it cycles every couple hours for 15 minutes. It will keep the food cold and the battery charge will last significantly longer.

      @chrismullin8304 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@sharriceowens913 , something like a “intermatic” plug in timer. You plug it in to the receptacle on the generator, then plug the fridge into the timer. That way, you can control when the fridge turns on.
      Without a timer, your fridge will run constantly. With the timer, you can control when it runs.
      Set the timer to turn on for 15 minutes, then off for 2 hours.
      The fridge/freezer may not stay at an exact temp., but it will keep your food cold longer.

    I got the Duracell 660 from Costco for $500 and a Renogy 200 ah deep cycle AGM battery from Amazon for $350. 1 set of cables was $20. So $880 for the same 3.0kwh setup. Also, about discharging AGM batteries 100%, the unit shuts down after about 66% discharge when teh batteries hit 10 volts. You would have a to wait for them to self regen a bit, for the voltage to come back up, doing the whole "deep cycle" thing, to then turn it back on and discharge further. So it works like a fail safe. You can't just walk away and have them discharge 100%.

    This would be perfect to plug your freezer into to keep your precious food from being affected during a brown out. I think I’ll get one.
    In the event of grid down having the 100 watt solar panel will at least keep the food cold. It will buy you time to get the food canned.
    Also with led lights one of these will run many lights. Christmas strands will fill a small room with enough light to read by. Thanks Rudy

    Nice video! I had similar thoughts in December. I hunted for an available Uninterruptible Power supply (UPS) to use down here in Anchorage. Not in stock locally except in Costco. Amazon not delivering to private addresses in Anchorage. Found in Costco and bought one back in December. I bought a solar panel from Amazon so I can potentially recharge if the grid fails completely like what happened years ago when the wind storm hit. I am happy to hear that you also found Durecell's solution works.

    Do you know you can run solar straight to the batteries. Use solar with charge controller and run to the back + and - or extra batteries and input more solar then 100w, that solar equalize the batteries and allow for more and faster charging. Needing a pure sine wave inverter can be attached to the extra batteries for devices needing it. So many things can be done with this unit from a company you can trust. Good videos, fine job fine job.

    Could you charge the duracell from the bluetti if you had to do so? Assume it would draw 100 watts from the bluetti? or would that be a stupid idea?

If I daisy chain batteries do you think this will do what I need? I've been looking at things $1500-2000 fearing if I didn't get large enough it wouldn't do what I needed. I've been so confused and frustrated unsure of what to do.

  • @sanseiryu
    @sanseiryu 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Lead acid batteries, even sealed lead acid batteries, work exactly the same. They can't output the rated watts for very long. Compared to lithium ion or lithium phosphate which will almost meet or even exceed their rated outputs. Lead acid batteries will only put out rated power for about 50% of the watt hours time before shutting down. They can only be discharged and recharged for about 50-100 cycles before going bad and they get weaker overtime, more so than Lithium which can be recharged minimum 500-2000 times depending on the type of cell. The Duracell takes 6-8 hours to recharge on AC. I bought the Ecoflow River Pro, it has 720 watt hour output, and can recharge from depleted to 100% in 1.6 hours on AC. It only weighs 16 lbs compared to nearly 60lbs. Lead acid is old tech for a emergency backup device. They probably cost the same. Don't waste your money or hurt your back on this device. I'm surprised they even sell it with all of the other lithium portable solar inverter backups available now.

    Just want to know if I do an upgrade to this Duracell generator and switched over the inverter to a pure sinewave inverter of the same value. And switch the AGM battery to a lithium battery of the same value. Would it work. Would it hurt to try. Lol just asking. It's been tempting me so.

    Great review!! Will the Duracell then charge the batteries once plugged into it ? I know you can use solar or ac but does it charge external batteries?

    Will this type of battery survive an emp? I have a couple items that I cannot take the battery out of. Will these batteries get spent with an emp or not? If not, should I get emp shield? And all the apt. Building power meters are together in the basement together, I would have to put the emp shield on that or can I put it on power panel in my apt.?

      I saw a video...where u disconnect the daisy chain then hook them up separately to a charge controller and 3 or 4 hundred solar and charge them and reconnect to main battery....not hard I would think...charge main with 100 and the other at same time then just pair themup

    We need a generator that will run a small window ac unit to keep one room liveable and keep my deep freezer frozen through a post hurricane power outtage. We wouldn't run the freezer & AC simultaneously but would run them in tandem to conserve power. We're generator novices, as in we know NOTHING about them. Any suggestions?

      Do not buy this device thinking that it will run your window AC. An average 5000 BTU window AC, will pull about 500 watts of power when the compressor kicks in for the cooling cycle along with the fan. The Duracell is only rated for 660 running watts, the 1440 watt rating is for momentary surges. It will output 660 watts for one hour but because it is a Sealed Lead Acid battery, the run time will probably be much less than that. Once the battery is drained, you will have to find an AC power source to recharge it and then it would take up to 6 hours for a recharge. A solar panel will take even longer unless it's a huge one. An AC will often cycle on and off, so the compressor may not run the entire time but if you're experiencing 90 degree temps then you'll lose the backup right quick, about half an hour based on these watt ratings. You would be far better off buying a dual fuel propane/gas inverter generator. You would need a minimum 3000 watts to run a window AC, a freezer, fridge some led lights and a small TV to get you through days of lost power.

    I can add a pure sine inverter on the battery itself with a fuse since the duracell is modified sine wave inverter and use the power off one of the batteries instead of the duracell for laptops or a tv?

    Hey there, I have the same Duracell solar generator & also just recently got me a 200ah Renogy Lead Acid battery. My question though is if you rely only on solar power to recharge the generator & etc, how do you recharge the battery that connects to the rear generator's terminals? As the battery drains from constant usage, will the solar panel connected to the Duracell generator, begin to slowly charge the battery everyday as well during day time? Or will the solar panel just charge the generator alone? Thats the part where im confused

    It's not how much capacity it has when you bought it but after a year by now if you check out how much amps it still has my everstart booster was down to boost on a charge from 5 after 8 months I now charge it with a battery charger through the booster cables I caught it just in time after a few cycles its now back to full charge and will do 5 boost per charge I should get 5 to 8 years before I have to buy a new battery so watch your back up nothing worse than the power going out and your backup not backing up so keep a close eye on it or get a good battery charger that will charge sealed lead acid batteries to the proper charging parameters
