Nice to hear your review of this. I've heard much of this house and specifically this fragrance. I may pick up a sample to experience it first hand now.
I really like brands like this one and Louis Vuitton who do refillable bottles. Both the company and the consumer win especially if you get a discount on the refill. There’s no reason to spend all that money on ornate packaging to just end up throwing it away.
I learned more about this fragrance in the first two minutes than any other similar review

Thank you for this review! I often hear people say sandalwood smells creamy. Does this mean the texture of the fragrance is smooth, or that is has a milky smell? When I hear "creamy," I either think lactonic, or the smell of drugstore hand lotions unfortunately. Sometimes sandalwood fragrances like Santal 33, JHAG Sunny Side Up, etc. smell more like pickling spices to me, but not in an unpleasant way; maybe the other notes are giving me this impression though?

I love santal 33, patchouli 24, oud 27 and lys 41 (hate their prices). I totally agree, santal 33 is the most iconic niche fragrance.

It's so interesting how different fragrances work on different people. My sister bought a small bottle of Santal 33 to try it out, and it smelled absolutely horrible on her, like strong cedar wood and tobacco. But I sprayed it on myself, and it smells gorgeous! After the initial woodsy hit, it's the powdery notes and the cardamom that stand out on me. Thankfully, she gave me the bottle, and now I have a new favorite in my collection 😊

Yup it actually depends on your skin! The smell can change depending on your ph balance, hormone lvl or diet etc it can influence the smell. That’s why sometimes it smells horrible on other people but heavenly on you. That doesn’t mean it’s bad, it’s just how it reacts to their body. It can sometimes smell sour etc.

Tried S33 years ago on tester strip and smelled like BO but on skin/in the air it's way better imho.
I wear santal 33 everyday and i get a lot of compliments from my friends and office mates i love the airy woody fragrance and it smells unique 😊

Late in the game with this fragrance and your video, since it was posted about two years ago. I am praying and hoping that you read this comment and respond to it. I recently got a dupe for Santel 33 from Oakcha “Rue” I have a dabber. I tried it on my wrist and it reminded me so much of a perfume from badgley Mischka “AUDREY” the Audrey is very very very peachy/apricoty. Unfortunately I have not smelled the original Santal… but I wanted your nose 👃🏼 thoughts on the similarity of the Dup from Oakcha “rue” and the “Audrey” comparison to the original. Anyway thanks so much for your reviews
I’ve smelt this on the London tube train a few times and around the street when people are wearing it, it’s a lovely citrus orangey smell, really strong smell. Had to ask someone in work who was wearing it what the name of it was, I thought it might have been Hugo Boss orange, was shocked to find out it was Santal 33, I had never heard of it.
I received a sample of this but have yet to try it. It would be the first niche fragrance I’ve ever tried and I wasn’t sure what weather to wear it in.
Steven, earlier today I visited the Le Labo boutique in Mexico City and I am truly impressed by this perfume. Woooow! How would you compare it with Acqua Di Parma Sándalo? What are your thoughts?
I've never tried it, but always wondered how similar the dry down would be to Emporio Armani Lui. To me that fragrance has a very noticable creamy sandalwood and I expect Saltal 33 to smell the same. I'll have to compare it at some point.

I get a nose full of cardamon in the opening. And then there's a strange medicinal smell as well. I'm testing it right now. I love the warm creaminess of sandalwood so I hope it comes on after awhile.
You mentioned the patchouli … I’m looking for a good patchouli based perfume would you suggest Le Labo? I also love vanilla and sandalwood. Thanks for the help!
Normally when guys use body spray or cologne, it does absolutely nothing for me because they douse themselves with the typical crap but my boss has this perfume and I swear to god, it smells so good, it definitely boosts his attractiveness. Its actually pleasant and not nauseating. The effect is what guys who wear AXE wish they had from all their commercials.

My coworker wears the same perfume and whenever I get near him I’m always like damnn I just wanna stay near him 😂 for the smell because it’s so good hahahaha
I mean not everyone can afford or even find it to be worth it since it’s super expensive. It’s like 165 dollars for only 2 ounces. I rather just buy cheap sandlewood cologne for 30-60 instead.
I feel its been reformulated though at some point since Estee lauder purchased the brand, I think the performance is now just Strong rather than Nuclear.
I’ve wanted this for a long time so I fnailly bought a 100ml a few days ago. Idk if I just got unlucky, but I feel like it doesn’t last at all on my skin. After 2 hours the smell completely faded. It’s disappointing because it’s so expensive

Something that smells very similar to Santal 33 is Santal Sky by Keirin NYC👍 It's a bit cheaper and smells amazing.

I smelt it on a guy a few months ago, the smell clear as day has stayed in my mind which sometimes doesn’t always happen with fragrances you know they all just blend into one or you recall it, but you have to smell it 1st to remember it. That’s how you know it’s good. I asked him what it was called and he told me which was nice. I agree it’s a very intriguing scent. Thank you for your review!
White sandalwood by nest smells very similar.. too bas it's discontinued. I get the copy from oil perfumery now.

@@davercountingcigars Idk for some but mine lasted like 8-9 hours. After working nonstop I could still smell the perfume on my skin and I only had like 2-3 sprays.

I can assure you, if you are worried about smelling like everyone else, Nobody will know what you are wearing unless you live in a big city in high end areas.
I live in a more rural area and NO ONE has heard of Le Labo. This scent is stunning. Don’t let people scare you into thinking everyone wears it. This is not true. Get a sample. Cheers!

Would this be a good fragrance to layer with molecule one?
I do own it; purchased it along with Rose 31. I believe the sandalwood used is the Australian variety, which is where I live. Only other Le Labos I have smelled are Patchouli 24 and Bergamote 22. Would like to try a few others from this house. Thanks, Stephen.

Idk y, but it seems almost as if I have a strange nose. I bought a small sample of this fragrance from Amazon a few weeks ago. I didn’t liked it @ 1st. 2 me, it smelled way 2 “woody” if that makes sense. I decided 2 let it cook on my skin. That’s when the real magic happened. Man this “elixir” is awesome! It comes off as a sweet woody scent. I can see this as a signature scent that’s utter perfection in the late fall months. Ur the best Mr. G.! Keep making America smell great again 💪🏽!

Id like to say I personally have it it’s an amazing fragrance. I get compliments often. A summer type of fragrance.

I prefer to wear this one in the colder weather, but you can wear it in summer if you apply lightly and wear it indoors.

Mann dis fragrance is good good uh very unique smell not your average smell I really really enjoy it my first experience to the house I’ve never smelled anything like it before a very stand out type of fragrance

I know your a very positive guy Steven but I think it's okay to call a spade a spade. That atomizer seemed poor 🤷♂️. Also worth noting I feel chanel has great atomizer's but they kind of hose you. Dior obviously the king of sprayers.
I got my sample today. The first sniff was like smelling cucumbers and I didn't like that but the dry down is killer. It reminds me of New Bond St by Bond No 9🤷🏾♀️

I personally love wearing it in the colder seasons, and I would recommend doing about 4 to 6 sprays.

I would like to love this perfume because it's expensive lol HAHAHA but i think this smell isn't for me. 😭 Straight- the smell is so powerful, too powerful infact😭 smells santan (old floral scent here in ph aka "pangmatanda") rightaway. And it lasts even i took a bath, put soap on it twice, bathsalt, girl the smell still remains 🙃

Dude yes! I was at work and smelt this shit, it smelt so damn good and it was so strong I had to write a note to the person there, keep in mind I’m wearing a mask and still could smell it!
