Man you are the king. I had no clue what to do and I was so defeated and pissed. Last ditch was TH-cam and it saved the day again. I loved taking my aggression out on that stupid plastic nut. The first one busted easy. The other was a real SOB. But this trick worked wonders. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU

Omg thank you for this video!!!!! At first I was like no way. In desperation and pain from hours of failure I gave It a go. It worked beautifully on the first 2. I drilled the last one so many times there wasn't much left but the threaded part. I pried it loose with a screw driver. This saved my day literally!!!! Thank you so much!!!!

You saved me too man. The nut was misaligned to the thread and was so tight I snapped 2 out of the 4 prongs that give you leverage. I was going to find a friend with a Dremel mini saw but saw your method and it worked like a charm. Thank you.

Rust from the basin was pushing on the nuts, and all I could achieve with a *special RIGID faucet tool*, which usually works like a charm, was to break the nut wings. Then I tried your method finally, and it saved my life as well :) Thanks a lot !!

Im so glad i found this video! The issue with mine was that the plastic nut got stuck and rusted to the base. Drilling it helped to cut the thread. This saved me.

I took out my first sink faucet tonight, it was like this one. I put pliers on one of those plastic spokes, and barely turned it, and the seal broke, and then I unscrewed the plastic seal by hand easily. This procedure worked on both of them. The faucet base came right off after that.

I was able to get the plastic locknuts off by spraying the threads with Blaster industrial strength silicone lubricant. I’m of small stature so I was able to get under the sink and get good leverage and they unscrewed right away by hand.

I attach a Vise-Grip to the threaded stud and turn counter-clockwise to remove stud and plastic fastener. The stud fastens to the bottom of the faucet base from the factory. This method is quick and has never failed me yet.

@@dougl6304 Sure did. Here's another way to remove; use a small butane torch and aim it at the middle of the fastener to soften the threads enough that they slough off.

I always have a problem unscrewing the nut for old toilet fill valves that I need to replace...First it's all calcified and secondly there's usually no space for me to operate.
I discovered this method of burning it off ..and applying some nail polish remover helps it catch fire and burn off. Burn it with a torch, lighter , or just matches will work.
The toilet fill valve nut doesn't have a flat surface like these nuts to drill on. I only recommend this as a last resort.. desperate option. ..as it is usually the case with me.
I had to do it this way again today ...and it was also the first time after 4 or 5 times that I've done this that the plastic screw on the attached water line caught on fire too..So I had to run out late and buy a new water line too. I gather you can do it on rusted, calcified rusted faucet plastic nuts like these too...But remember to be VERY VERY CAREFUL...have some water and wet towel around just in case anything else catches fire. That has never happened to me though. I don't recommend using this method on wooden kitchen cabinets. Note : today I also tried to use a version of " the rigid faucet tool "too but it was too long for the space between the bottom of my toilet tank and the floor.

So while really appreciating your video I did not possess a drill bit. So I just relied on a flat head screwdriver and a small 10 pound hammer and beat the brakes off that mother. After spending a good hour or so got it working but have a small leak coming from the turn off valve. That's why I hate plumbing. You can do a solid job and still get screwed.

Same situation with a brass retainer nut instead of plastic. Had to use an oscillation tool with hacksaw blade, nut only one side was accessible. Drilled a hole in the opposite side of the brass nut until it was possible to split the nut in-half to remove it.
    Not elegant, but effective.

Some videos showing easy peasy installs of faucets NOT taking into consideration thousand year old rusted, impossible to reach connections.🙄 I'm so ticked that I'm considering sawing off the center piece where the doors close to get better access under the sink and then reattaching the wooden piece once I finish the faucet install🤷
The lines from my faucet are impossible to unscrew on a hundred year old faucet (JK) that I'm considering just cutting the hanging lines and try to pull them up through the holes.
I think it might be easier to then unscrew the bottom connection.🤨
Will the faucet holes be wide enough though to pull them through🤔

It did not work with me because the plastic is molded with the wood and make it so soft to be broken. I end up using a hammer and screw driver and knock it till it is moved and took it out. Spend around 2 hours just to get these out.
