I think there is something wrong with the timer. As soon as Kenenisa Bekele finished, at 18:43 of the video clip, his time is 2:02:59. That is what is displayed on the watch board above. But his time is officially recorded as 2:03:04. Something is not right here. That is a 5 seconds delay, and for a runner that is big.

Because their official time begins and ends the moment the runner's cross the starting line and ends the moment they cross the finish regardless of what the time says. They have timing devices on their shoes typically that record when they actually start and finish. So Bekele's official time was indeed 2:03:04.
