  • I am still tuning the NSR Porsche 908/03 and this week I added the Slotinvasion guide! Here is a step by step instruction on the install. Then we throw it on the track and see if we can set a track record.

    Awesome instructions. Love the thicker SlotInvasion guides. Any tips on prepping new braid for beginners?
    A tip: often on the guide, there is a slight flashing that sticks up from the horizontal base that can cause rubbing and rough turning. I often take a hobby knife or jewelers file and smooth those out. A 0.010" space also helps to make a smooth rotation (with a drop of oil) and pushed that guide into the slot ever so slightly.
    But you got that baby humming on track!

      Thanks Joseph! It is one of my favorite cars. So much fun to drive. Great tips!

    The ferrules on the NSR leads would have fitted straight into the Slotinvasion guide, negating the need to solder the leads to the braids. Would also make changing the braids a lot easier.

    Way to go, Marty :) We can see just how fast and stable the car is in motion. All I would add is to make sure you have good quality, heat resistant grease on the moving parts.

      Thanks to Slot Car Corner, I have grease! Thanks Darren!

    Love your track mate!! Such a fast and suler quiet Carrera track. One thing i get annoyed by carrera track, and scalextric digital for that matter, is how noisy they are.
    Seems you have felt underneath.....works wonders.

      I went with low pile carpet. Really helps with noise. I hate noisy cars and track 😂 thanks!

    Hey Marty- great video! - I agree, I been slowly changing my fleet of cars over to SlotInvasion guides, and with similar results.

      Clint, I have changed out all of my favorite cars. The slotinvasion guide really is a top performance modification.

    Great video Marty, if you can do the same with other cars and repeat the results that's science 😀 My next question would be how much weight can you take out of it by shortening all those wires (bet it's a few grams) and will that help the lap time further? Inertia and all that :) and if it increases instead of reduces lap time can you add the equivalent weight back in in different places and tune the handling that way? So much more science to be done here! Keep it up (but from one sound engineer to another, bring back the condenser mic with the pop shield )😁

      Thanks so much! I was in a hurry and used my iPhone to record everything. Don't worry, I have not abandoned my setup. LOL. Yes, I need to shorten the wires, balance out the car with some lead, adjust the front tire ride height. I think I can get another .200 off the time. This car is fast and so much fun to drive. Thanks for the great comment and advice.

    That NSR was whipping down and around that track. Love those long straights wonder how long your table is? Gonna go back and watch and old vid to find out.

      @twolinesslotcars  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It handles so well.. and is fast. My table is 8' x 20' and I have a few layout changes coming that will go to 24' long..

      @@twolinesslotcars nice 👍 that’s one more 4x8 more than I’ve got. Gonna maybe look under the couch cushions and find some bucks to go pick up some lumber. I can hear my cars wanting just a bit more straight maybe I just have to bite the bullet and just do it.

      @@heatmonster420 I like the fact that the cars can hit pretty close to top speed down the front stretch.. it is fun :)

    You don't have to solder the lead wires to the braid ... just use a grub screw .. much easier and holds just as well .. also makes it much easier to change out your braid ...

    • @twolinesslotcars
      @twolinesslotcars  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Chris. I didn’t have any grubb screws. I plan to change them out once I have them.

      @@twolinesslotcars What size grub screws? I just got done updating my new NSR last night, I thought I did a pretty solid job but it doesnt even come close to my Slot.it cars in lap times, about 2 seconds off the pace. Going to post a vid later today, I still have the factory magnets in all of my cars, but I like fast at this point, I had a neo magnet in one of the slot it cars and it changed the way you drive to much. with just the factory magnet, you can still do a lot of drifting and a more natural feel to the car.
