Love it man!! Great work George!!
Lol..thankyou my friend. I'm learning from you.
George...Giving old knives a Second Chance. Great job on the restoration! Looks great.
Thankyou. Appreciate the support.
Great job for your first restoration. I watch The Knife Doctor and now 2CG. Can’t get any better than that.
Lol..thats where I learn from...the Doctor is a great guy
Great job, George. Love seeing an old knife brought back to life.
Thankyou much appreciated
I really enjoy cleaning up old knives. Came out really well and great sheath. Thanks for sharing and God bless.
Thankyou sir.
George some knives just end up looking a little rough like me. But I have fun just tinkering, sometimes you just get lucky and things work out and they look great. I make about a knife a day just playing, make them out of old saw blades, all kinds, put them all together and wouldn't be worth one dollar but I had a million dollars worth of fun, that is all I wanted.
Have fun my Pal.
That my friend is a true story. Its the journey that is fun. You be safe out there
@@2ndchancegeorge thank you for taking your time to reply to me, I know the videos are a lot of work but I sure enjoy watching you have fun. Keep it up as long as you can, I will be watching.
@@larry-ht6yb thankyou. Appreciate that.
Awesome job 2cg ,needs a lanyard with that slip. Love your videos.
Thankyou. Hmmm you maybe right there. Be safe
Outstanding ‼️ The Doctor would be proud 👍
Lol...yep..see top comment...lol
Good morning George. The Knife Doctor has inspired you for sure. Hope your day goes well. Take care.🇺🇲🔪🌲🔥
Yes he has..lol. be safe my friend
George ! I have 3 camp / scout knives. 1 by Ulster and passed that to my son .The 2nd is a Kamp king like yours and the 3rd is made by boker. All 3 belonged to my father.Only knives he carried . Funny you posted this I was looking for something and came across these knives said to myself I have to get these cleaned up . I figure on passing them down to my grandsons when they are older . Thank you and keep those videos coming .
Glad you liked it. It a great project, and to pass them in the family is awesome. Appreciate the support. Be safe
Beautiful work, my friend! You gave that knife a whole new lease on life!
Thankyou appreciate the support
A nice cleanup, it has a decent sized blade for a small knife, thanks for the video, George.
Thankyou my friend. You are always welcome. Be safe
Awesome job on the slip and knife! You're getting better and .better as time goes on.
Thankyou. Practice makes perfect they say...lol..sometimes. be safe
The one blade is an awl, looks like someone may have did some grinding on it. Nice job George, definitely worth more than a dollar now!
Ahhh. Gotcha. I thought it was but was not sure. Be safe
Yep. It's supposed to be sharper to a point.
Good job George. Fun seeing what you did to an older knife. You added more years of use to it. Thanks for the view. Rog/Iowa
Thankyou sir. Be safe
Very nice restoration. The blades look great. The blade in question is the awl that has been ground down to a round point. Not sure what they used it for after the modification. Many old USA made knives are made from 1095 carbon steel. I use a Dremel with a flex shaft. A great set up. Dremel makes a bristle wheel that works great; however, it's expensive because it wears quickly. Now I cut a small square of red 3M pad and cut the corners off to create an octagon, then attach it to the screw mandrel with a tiny washer on either side. It's quick and easy to make. I look forward to more knife restoration content. My next adventure is decorative filing on the tang of an Ontario 7" butcher knife.
Nice restoration and sheath George, thank you for sharing. Take care.
Thankyou sir you too
Great video! Don’t forget to oil it! Especially since it’s carbon! Can’t wait for the next video!
Yep already done. Thanks again my friend. Be safe
That really turned out great! I can see you getting a $40 3inch grinder with a fiber wheel on it from Harbor freight. I clean a lot of mine up by hand, and I found using a little piece of scrap wood to support the blade takes the pressure off the pivot point of the blade and helps me to not have to work so hard at scrubbing the rust off. Great job though you gave that knife it’s dignity back!
That bale looks great too!
Lol...I would but need to get power to the shed. Thanks again always appreciate your support 🙏
Lol...I'll be looking for an original. But this will do for now....I hope
Great video!!! Keep these videos rolling !!! All the best and happy knife hunting
Thankyou sir. Appreciate your support
Well done! You did a nice job cleaning that knife up. I especially like the bail you made for it. Nice sheath too. I have a box full of old camp knives that I've collected over the years. I've left them all in the condition I found them in except for oiling them to halt the rust. should make for some good projects when I finally retire. Great video George!
Oh yes...fun projects fir the future...nice. he safe
Great job on rejuvenation of that folding knife; great sheath.
Thankyou. Appreciate the support, be safe out there
Nice clean-up job. It looks good. I like the hangar bail. The tool is an awl that is rounded from use. You can just sharpen it up if you'd like.
Huh.. I thought it was an awl. But it looked kinda weird..lol Thanks for watching and be safe out there
Thanks for sharing George
Nice knife 👌
Thankyou my friend. Be safe
Hey George nice job on the Kamp King and sheath. The mystery blade is definitely an awl, and was pointy (real sharp). Yours was made between 1946 and 1956. I have one that’s missing the bail also, but mine was made after 1956. They moved “USA” from underneath “Imperial” to the right hand side in 1956. You can still get a Kamp King made by Rough Rider in China for $35.00……. It even has the Kamp King badge on it! I think I got mine for $3.00
Nice. I have the Rough Ryder one. Lol. I must have read the card wrong...again...l. thanks for watching my friend. Be safe
Great job ,excellent video.
Thankyou fun project, I see mote in my future...l. be safe out there
Great job George well done on your first try. I have done only a fixed blade which I think is a lot easier. Hope you get over your cold soon.
Thankyou my friend. Be safe as always
Nicely done!
Really like the sheath.
I very much enjoy the vtg knife restoration projects. Bought 14 for $1 each a week ago. Lots of projects ahead of me.
That is an awl blade and on mine it comes to a much more defined point
Nice. I think someone modified it for some reason. Thanks for the support. Be safe out there
👍🏼I have a couple of those. They were my Grandpas.
I don’t really know stuff but I soak old slipjoints in vinegar over night. Seems to gently eat off the rust.
I think the awl should be pointy but my Kamp king is rounded like that too. 🤷♂️
Good job👍🏼
Nice. Thanks for the support. Be safe
Absolutely beautiful!!!Fantastic and so rewarding!!!Thank you for sharing 😊🔪👍
Thankyou, appreciate the support. You be safe
Hello George!
Well done!
I can well imagine that the punch tool / reamer tool can be used to scrape out smokers pipes.
If you google for pipe smokers folding pocket knife you can find more similar blades.
Ahh. Nice thankyou
Good job on the resto. That blade was once an awl.
Thankyou, appreciate it. Hope all is well my friend
Enjoyable as always.
Thankyou sir always appreciated. Hope all is going well
You did a nice job 👍
Thankyou. Appreciate it. Be safe
Good job George you cleaned that old knife up nicely and mostly without power tools impressive! I really like that sheath you made for it, it matches well and looks really cool!
Lol..yep old school. Don't have power in the shed...lol. be safe
@@2ndchancegeorge You every get any offers to review portable power supplies like jackery or anker. That could be a solution to no power in your shed!
Lol...I have not. I would have to check it out. Noise is an issue...lol.
@@2ndchancegeorge the ones I mentioned are battery power packs and don't make noise like a gas or diesel generator. They can be charged either with solar or regular outlets and transported to wherever really nice for camping as well! Check into it if you get the chance!
@davidsawchak1330 yep I will thankyou
I think your finished project looks great. The odd looking blade is likely an awl, knives of different brands often have different designed tools. I would try boring a hole in some softwood and see how it works.👍
Thankyou. Looking at the way the end is is more of a kinda Chisel or gouger thing...lol. it may have been modded. Be safe our there
Nice one, George. I like the sheath, too. You are very patient and not reliant on a room full of power tools.
Lol..yep just prefer by hand, I get more satisfaction out of it. It does test me at times....be safe my friend
Oh yah , now we're talking. When I was a boy I saw the punches turned into small skinning blades, and people took the bails off because they were cumbersome. Great video. Well done George !
Thankyou. Yep I think this one was meant to be some kind of "gouger".
Hi George I can give you a method of cleaning the blades to get them nice and shiny, get some cement put some in a small tub get another small container and put some water in it, I used a mall piece of polystyrene and dipped it into the water then the cement rub it on the blade it forms a paste, just replenish as necessary clean blade off several times eventually you will have a lovely shiny blade needs some elbow grease and patience but worth it, you remove very little metal believe me the results are spectacular, almost like new, an old carpenters method for removing rust. 😁
Huh...I have a major clean to do...I'll try that for sure. Thankyou, much appreciated my friend
George a Dremal can be your friend. You can do a lot of jobs with it that are easier and take half the time. You can buy fairly inexpensive bit kits like at Harbor freight that will do multiple tasks.
Yep. I was looking at what options are out there. Appreciate the support. Be safe
Hey 2cg, I've had good luck using oven cleaner on rust. Use steel wool for àn abrasive. Be careful with it safety first!
I have seen that. Got to experiment a little. Be safe
I like a flex shaft on my Dremel
Yep I had one for the old guy I have but seem to have lost it...I'm old memory not so good...lol. be safe out there
You might get a Bail from Impereal........they were still in business last time I checked.
They are now Imperial Schrade I belive. I am going to do some bargain hunting first. Then maybe get hold of them. Thanks for watching always appreciated 😁
I have one. Mine has a sharper awl.unfortunately mine also has a broken cap lifter and peeled metal covers. Mine was my Dads at one time
Yep someone modified this one. You could probably find a beater knife with a good opener in it...replace it maybe
@@2ndchancegeorge mine was made after 56. Thanks for the information on that. The fact that it was my Dads makes it valuable to me. I remember it sitting in the kitchen junk drawer with all sorts of things Dad "might need some day". Most he never did need.
@preppy890 lol..doesn't everything....
The tool looks like it was a reamer tool that might have been ground down to make a small screwdriver out of it.
Yep somebody modified it. Thanks for watching. Be safe
Is it a rounded chissle ? 😮
Not sure. I think it was modified to that. Maybe foe carving?
Could it be a wood carving device?
Hmm you maybe right. I think itwas molded for something like that 🤔
