i loved hearing mason cox. he was fantastic. i like his insight. the AFL would be silly not to employ him to expand the game in the US. he has everything. would love him to take some massive clangers again late in the finals.....and im a dees fan lol
That's very decent. I'd say the same about Heppell, saw him walking into a cafe right when all the unfortunate events were unfolding at Essendon. He looked me in the eye as he was passing with a group of guys and said G'day mate, how's it going? Terrific career he had and deserved to see more finals action.
Never doubted Schultz. We could see his workrate and second efforts right from the start. People saying he's no good don't understand the game and can't see the intent. Liken him a bit to Elliott - works so hard and honestly I have never seen a forward get the short end of the stick more often (bad bounces, etc), it's unbelievable how hard our forwards have to work to get a goal compared to opposition teams. Or at least that how it feels. Rapt we've got him, he's a team player.
Absolutely, fits into the Elliot role perfectly. Both the same height, similar average goals per game (1.4. to 1.3) Elliott is 31, Schultz 26. Shultz' tackling, blocking and work off the ball also creates opportunities for others.

Shultz is fine, no criticism of him. But the list managers never should have given up a first rounder for him or hardly any small forward. I like Shultz, he's a good player and he'll do well for us, but unless we're talking someone truly elite like Cyril Rioli you don't give up a first rounder for a small forward. Especially when pies have an old list, already had decent small forwards and needed either a tall forward, key defender, or midfielder much more. Worth criticising the list management while still backing in Shultz the player.
I don’t think I’ve ever said this before but I genuinely think the umps cost the Pies the game last week. There were 3/4 absolutely ridiculous “insufficient intent” decisions made at critical points in the game. Not sure if this is a problem of how the rules are written or being interpetted but those decisions not only helped sydney kick goals, they also stemmed Collingwood’s momentum.

@@stevelozevski8151 They dropped too many games they should have won earlier in the year and haven't been lucky in the results from other clubs. From premiers to missing finals seems to be a trend over the last few years.
Yesterday Nick Dacos proved how good he is. Not that anyone would doubt his abilities. It also proved how well James Jordan's role last week, in tagging him, was executed.

collingwood supporter here, what do you mean too early? he played great for one quarter yesterday and its round 23? maybe if it was still round 13 it would make sense but the finals are about to start, i reckon some people gave up too late but hopefully this game starts something for him.
Brisbane have good youth, Will Ashcroft, Darcy Wilmot, Kai Lohmann, Jaspa Fletcher and my personal favourite Logan Morris with Sam Marshall and Levi Ashcroft coming through the ranks
nah they won't - just like they showed joe getting tripped as one of his bad moments. Nor will they mention Sidebottom bumping Rayner off the ball not getting a free. I've seen less paid (refer to your comment 😉 )
Big Joe was playing on the Pies weakest link, so there was no great display by big Joe. No mention of the outstanding performance by John Noble. 'How did you get into that position' what a stupid question. The Pies played much of the current season minus up to16 of the players that played in last seasons grand final due to injuries. You only need look back on the number of reserve players that debuted in the seniors this season.
lachie has been lacking in his polish and finishing. he made those clutch plays this time but they were lacking throughout the season. even against sydney, he had an inside 50 chance to potentially win the game but butchered it. he's had an ok season but if he converted a higher percentage of his chances, no doubt people would see this as a trade win for collingwood. very inaccurate in front of goals.
Inaccurate because of the difficulty of shots he takes. Under pressure snap shots are low percentage. He creates opportunities to score and has kicked his share for a small forward. Not his fault the team had no chemistry and the forward line has been decimated all season.

It’s probably illegal to say this as an Essendon supporter, but cox seems like a good guy, very humble (which is not the perception of him typically).
