    Would love to see a gymkhana grid build with only budget parts so all of us people without huge sponsors or blank checks can get inspired to build cars that could possibly compete. This is an awesome series of builds and videos but would love to see maybe next seasons cars with like 10k-15k eBay motors budget. I think that would be so awesome. Keep the videos coming

    Aren't the slotted discs suppose to be on the other side? So when the car is going forward the slots are throwing air to the outside of the disc not to the inside diameter?

  • @connorellisx
    @connorellisx ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I’m surprised remote resis aren’t more popular than they are in the car world, the list of advantages to them is unbelievable, prevents the nitrogen and oil separated much better so you don’t aerate the shock fluid, more oil stays cooler longer, allows for a larger piston diameter for better tuning, and having adjusters aswell allows for incredibly precise shock tuning.

    • @CriticoolHit
      @CriticoolHit ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Draw three lines on a graph. One for cost vs performance. Once for space vs performance and then one for stock baseline price and performance.
      Needless to say the curve turns into a cliff pretty fast once you get past a certain point. I hate the auto manufacturing ethos as much as the next guy but I will defend their staggering ability to save the most money while producing often times the most efficient components.

    • @philbert006
      @philbert006 ปีที่แล้ว

      All of what he said plus additional weight. They would certainly have something like that on a car built for any length of time driving. But it's gymkhana. Maybe a minute sliding around cones and barrels. Unnecessary expense

    • @connorellisx
      @connorellisx ปีที่แล้ว

      @@philbert006 I personally disagree, the weight savings is so Minimal for the amount of control you gain from having a proper shock. Packaging constraints are also not an issue with most popular platforms. I believe its an added expense that may just be more for the performance minded people and not so much for the IG clout chasing people.

    • @philbert006
      @philbert006 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@connorellisx i really think the biggest reason for not going that route is just that it's not needed. As I mentioned, in a full length race or say an off road situation, cycling the shocks repeatedly and closer to the limit, you're going to heat up the hydraulic fluid, it becomes less efficient, heat cycling it over and over it breaks down like any oil, once it gets hot then seals and stuff wears prematurely. I think that's not really a consideration for such a short course as gymkhana. I'll partially agree about weight savings, can't really be all that much. But when you're going full race car, those people really go all out, they consider every possible ounce, it's borderline obsessive. Does it matter? Yes and no. Everything adds up. But will 5 pounds here make a noticeable difference? Only if you are looking at the scale. When it comes to suspension, some of that will be unsprung weight, which pays off big rewards for small differences. As for packaging, that's really dependent on the car. Op was talking external reservoirs and all that. If you consider something like Ken's rally cars, they are packaging everything at tightly as possible, adding absolutely nothing unnecessary, and coming up with our of the box solutions to place things because it's already so tight. On Vinny's car there doesn't seem to be a need for that. It's a decent size car and he shouldn't have a problem. I feel like the whole build is overboard for the purposes. There could be any number of reasons. But hoonigan is a business. Maybe their idea is to showcase different ways of achieving the same thing. Different levels at different budgets. Maybe they are showing as many parts as possible to boost sales. After all, you can probably find a link to all that stuff thru their website. Maybe their sponsors are showing off their best of the best, like you mentioned, for performance minded people that may not be aware of their brand or products. One thing is for certain, Vinny is a massive show off, not that there's anything wrong with it, and that's just how he wants to roll. Maybe he has future plans to do some other kind of serious racing after gymkhana? Maybe it's a combination of all of the above. I admit, I don't disagree with what you're putting down. I don't think he is limited to one reason for doing whatever. I will never discount ig clout, though. I personally don't use ig, but as often as it seems to come up, these guys clearly do care. It's part of the whole brand, how they got there, how they build it. Anyways, it's a blast to watch!
