The man is an ICON and there will never be anyone like him EVER . There will also never be another ONJ. The earth is missing a real live Beautiful inside and out Angel . For a woman that had virtually zero acting experience ( unlike Travolta here ) , she was incredible and a GIft to the world , especially as SANDY . No one in Hollywood or anywhere else could have played Sandy better. No couple on the screen will ever match the chemistry These 2 had togther . No wonder theyalways stayed in touch until the end . My eyes have always been more drawn to Sandy but I think it's maybe he dress and those shoes. Travolta looks typically "Look at meeeee.... look at meeeeeeeeeee Johntruvultaohmygah!" whereas Olivia jumps in looking so elegant and understated. And she has a gorgeous dress and purdy shoes. Gutted they made Sandy change into a sticky looking tramp at the end.

    • @ProfessorChomsky
      @ProfessorChomsky 4 ปีที่แล้ว +22

      Completely. But I think ONJ is equally magic too and also, watch it again, she seems to be talking to Travolta - I have for many years thought that, while it remains one of my highlight scenes of the film, ONJ is right into it and Travolta is too into himself and his own dancing routine - taking nothing away from him of course. Watch it again and see how utterly happy she seems and how concentrated, shall we say he is.......but your overall point stands - a glorious moment in the film x

    My favorite 30 seconds of the entire movie is at 2:34 . Danny and Sandy seize the opportunity, guns blazing, to make a grand entrance into the dance-off contest. At this precise moment when the violins come streaming in, I am so overwhelmed watching their in sync "Pistol + Lasso'ing" and seeing Sandy's beaming smile! I can't help but smile too because I'm so happy for them. Sandy's so in love, and she casts a few glances to Danny following his lead. I've watched these 30 seconds countless times and still cry out of pure joy for them. Olivia Newton John is genuinely having the time of her life too ! Many great scones but for me is by far the best! We love you Olivia and will miss your DEARLY!

I knew she had been in productions of West Side Story, but was surprised to learn she had never seen the movie in a movie theater. Best part of the film , just absolute great energy captured here, nice camera work & choreography, and Sha Na Na did a great job with the music. When you really look at this cut, these shots were edited together pretty good, musicals, dancing with a nice soundtrack this stuff is really entertaining to me, it’s something that isn’t done today

    That look at 3:25 ONJ gives gets me every time . Her acting was so under appreciated in this movie. Noone in Hollywood or anywhere else could have come anywhere near her perfection of playing SANDY ! Imagine playing a teenager on the cuspof being 30 & ( unlike Travolta ) having zero professional acting for the big screen experience . How daunting -but she had Travolta championing for her . Pure Cinematic unrivalled Magic & Chemistry these 2 had and a real life relationship/friendhship built to endure that developed. Wow their energy togther was undeniable & destined . Also lets give ONJ the credit she finally desrves . Thats real acting talent people . Oh Olivia I miss you so much . There will never be another one of you EVER. Rest in Peace Angel
