The Evil Queen singing low and gravelly was an acting choice. The actress said she did it because the evil queen wouldn't want to sing and is fighting it and more than likely can't sing. The actress uses her actual singing voice in the final song of the episode

@Marie Whitbread Well, that's the thing with taste. For me Love doesn't stand a chance is by far the best song of the episode. I'm aware that it's not an outstanding singing performance and the growling sounds with the larynx aren't good for the voice, but it just fits for the Evil Queen. I don't like these happy songs like the first one of Snow and Charming. Plus there wouldn't have been a point in the Queen singing like that. It was cool that they gave her a deep, rough rock song.
Sounds unlikely that the actress asked the composer to write the song low, though. She may have chosen to sound gravelly and like she's fighting it, but she didn't pick the notes. I wish it had been higher actually, because the cliche of the bad guy with the low voice vs the protagonists singing higher is overdone and frustrating.
Yes, the actors playing Snow and Charming actually did get married after the first season and are still together.
The thing with the Queen’s singing is Lana is a good singer but she knew her actual singing voice wouldn’t work for the Evil Queen at that point so she had to change her voice to fit the Queen.
Jennifer, the one playing Emma, wasn’t looking forward to singing since she isn’t a singer nor does singing regularly so she wasn’t confident.
Then you have Emile, she plays Belle, who asked to not be asked to sing at all because her family discouraged her singing when she was little.

As somebody who did watch OUAT all the way through when it was on, I am living for this commentary. So true. The special effects were basically garbage, but the outfits were amazing. And I absolutely love this episode. The songs were super good and they all did a good job singing.
Yeah, even from the beginning, I was okay with the bad green screen because I loved the whole premise of the show.

Her comment there made me laugh! That moment made me gasp. Knitting isn't hard at all (IMO of course), especially that particular pattern, but the time it takes...omg! haha I wonder how many takes that took and how many pieces had to be knitted for each take? Was it the same person who just had to keep making it over and over? Or did they have several people? These are the things I think about. lol

Happy beginning and emma's theme were the only songs that didnt suck . I mean the episode was one huge cringe factor .
This series is literally SO complicated, like everyone in that town is somehow related in a fairytale way or The biological way. Every season has another catastrophy coming And they’re all Kinda different. It’s really complicated And complex so when You watch single clips You can sometimes be like” What the hell” but if you know what is going on you know that one of the enemies is Henry’s father and another is his foster mother that hates his real grandmother and then It turns out his biological grandmother helped his not biological grandmother murder his foster mother’s true love, EVEN though there was an age gapę of like 50 years. See, complex.
you mean Henry';s paternal grandfather. Step-great grandma or adopted grandma (depending on which way you're viewing it bio way Cora was his step great grandma as well as being his adoptive grandma being Regina's mother.

But it’s the absolute best, complicated and complex is what makes it special.
I mean yeah they're all related in a fairytale way, the entire town is made up of characters who were cursed. If you mean people outside the town, it wouldn't really make sense to focus on anyone unrelated (there were a few regular humans though they were purposely trying to find magic). But you're right about the plots though, they started to get really convoluted but also there were just so many characters, it was so easy to lose track (I didn't even realize Ruby had left to be on another show for a while). It was honestly a great concept but started to be executed pretty badly, which was a shame.

Isn’t the baby bump her first child ?!? Because she gets pregnant in season 3 which was filmed in 2014/2015 and her oldest child is 5 however her youngest is 3 ?
@@me-ht8cu I believe from what I remember since I watched the whole show as it aired that the season 3 baby bump is for their first child and that one they incorporated into the show and they hid her season six baby bump for her second child. They’re not hiding her second baby bump here because they could pretend it was when Snow was pregnant with Emma.

I find the Queen's song just perfect, and her voice is pretty cool, the Evil Queen must have a bad and scary voice, this is what makes all her charm. Lana Parilla sings pretty well on top of that. Thank you for you video, it was good.❤️

You need to hear Wicked Always Wins. Let's put it this way: there was no reason for the wicked witch to be in this episode. She served no purpose. But she also happens to be the best and most trained singer of the bunch.
The actress pleaded with the writing team to include her because she was so excited to get to sing, so they made Zelena the queen's resolution to let her have a story reason to show up.

I always wondered why she had her own song because it seemed pointless and out of place, but it’s one of my two favourite songs so I just choose to forget any issues I had with it! 😅

(Peter pan being henrys great grandfather) .. i get why people say its confusing cuz this is like 1% of the family tree..

And then you throw in people like Hook, Rumple, and Marion who die and un-die multiple times over 100’s of years, yet somehow still look super young, people having multiple names, a few sleeping curses, and being like 14 years older than your uncle (Henry and baby Neal) and that gives you a whole lot of confusion!!!

I've seen all seven seasons of Once Upon A Time about 100 times, the show has really good special effects, some of the green screens aren't the best, but you have to keep in mind that this is a tv show, the special effects aren't going to be as fabulous as the special effects in movies. The writing in the show is fantastic, the character arcs in the show are wonderful; and the character dialogue is amazing.

Ginnifer Goodwin who played Snow White was actually very nervous about singing while the guy playing Charming was really excited about it. You can kinda tell in their preformence. I loved charmings entrance lol

I love the song "Love doesn't stand a chance" its so fun and Lana looks like she had a blast doing it!
Also if I remember correctly all the actors who had singing roles in this episode had to audition before the episode so the producers and probably musical creators could make songs that matched their vocal ranges better. Ginner was super nervous about singing and Emma and Hook were wonderful surprises to how well they could sing.
It makes me sad that this doesn't have all songs from OUAT's musical episode. I hope there's a part 2 sometime in the future, same with the other musical episode/movie videos 🥺🥺. Nevertheless, this entire video just reminded me I wanna do a OUAT rewatch

Josh Dallas has never performed on Broadway. He trained in Musical Theatre in London and performed with some English companies such as the RSC
Wicked Always Wins and Revenge is Gonna Be Mine are probably the two best songs of the episode! You must watch them and react because they’re probably the best performances vocally. They both can actually sing really well.

@Marie Whitbread still don't know why they gave her that much power, especially when she had to actually explain the symbolism in an interview. Not all viewers are going to read that. I thought it made her look matronly, especially with how harsh her hair was pulled back, and the makeup.

About Lana Parrilla, I think they choosed this voice's acting as you said to sound evil. But I also think that they wanted that her singing voice sound like her talking voice, because Lana have a very low voice for a woman. I liked the song because she never really sang before, she explained that in an interview, and at first she didn't want to sing because she told not beeing a singer.But she did a really great job even if she wasn't a singer.
And to answer at your question: Nop Colin O'Donoghue and Jennifer Morrison aren't together IRL but Josh Dallas and Ginnifer Goodwin are married, it was an IRL fairy tales, they felt in love after they met on the set of Once Upon A Time.

the reason the queens song is so low is because she had a slightly deeper voice when she sang, so they decided to build the song around her voice, they said it in an interview x
This show is one of my favorites you should really watch the entire show! The person who plays Regina “the evil queen” actually sings like that..... and as for the way she acts ^_^ she grows far far good and seeing her path to the light is so magical!!!!!

It sounds like there is a massive difference between shows set up to be musical TV, like Smash, Glee, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, and Zoeys extraordinary playlist, versus shows that tack on a musical episode last minute because why not, like Once Upon a Time or Grey’s Anatomy. Lol
For 'Love Doesn't Stand A Chance' it was an acting/character choice. They wanted a distinct sound difference between Regina and the Evil Queen character.
But Regina never sang anything except as the evil queen, so there is no distinct difference between them. It's just one, that you can tell was very difficult for her to get out. I love the song, but I can't help shuddering at the thought of how difficult it was to do.

Jennifer Morrison (Emma) comes from a music family. Her dad was a music teacher and she was in a marching band and she basicall grew up around music so it makes sense she sings it well and with the right techniques. P.S. her sister is a music therapist
