This actually made me cry because there’s people out there showing DK so much love and appreciation for his beautiful vocals. In the beginning DK wasn’t confident about his voice and cried and said he isn’t good enough. Jeonghan said he cried watching DK in the musical as King Arthur because he was so proud of how confident DK is now. DK would be so happy to see your reactions to him. Seventeen just finished a North America tour a few weeks ago. I went to the Chicago one and it was the best time of my life. I hope they come back again soon because I miss them already.

Honestly, it’s so hard to say THE BEST because people will always rank it based on personal preference. I believe Seungkwan is more supported but I just like listening to DK’s voice more. a lot of people praised and said that DK is natural talented in singing. but Woozi once said that’s because you didn’t witness DK in his pre-debut era. he worked his ass and sacrificed a lot to work on his singing and his voice.

THIS. Honestly I’ve always thought his voice was extremely powerful and resonant. It’s PERFECT for theater, which is why I think it isn’t surprising that he was chosen to be the lead in Excalibur. He has SUCH a clear tone that he brings that gravitas to whatever he sings. And it seems to come as easily to him as breathing (obviously not to diminish his hard work, but it’s obvious he has some natural talent), to the point that other members have to tell him “yes okay we get it, please, PLEASE stop singing!”
I’m so glad he seems to be gaining more recognition, recently. He deserves all of it, and honestly, I just want more people to have the opportunity to hear him sing. It’s a gift.
That’s how he became an amazing vocalist he keeps trying to improve even tho he’s already at a high level with his vocals

before I left kpop I watched 20 years of kpop. I understand you said never heard anyone like him, cause to me there is something special also. Even outside the idol 'circle', he is one of the best singer.

Their producer Bumzu once mentioned that when he's still training, DK is alr really talented as if he was really born with it and only needs polishing through some lessons.
Seeing you love his voice means a lot to me personally because he struggled long to become really confident about his singing. I also noticed these days that he knows how to "play" with his voice more like he'll do adlibs and runs more than before. I think he's already know how to fully control his vocals. I'm so proud of him 😊

dk and seungkwan are such standout main vocalists, dk is SOOO good and so underappreciated. his voice can move mountains lol
"Do you ever think they are gonna come to America?" LOL I just saw them in August in Seattle on their Be the Sun Tour. I'm a BTS fan and wanted to support more kpop groups as the come to the states in my area, so without knowing anything about these guys I got tickets and went. One of the best things I've done. Their concert was amazing. DK actually ended up being my favorite from the show, vocally he just stood out for me, although all the guys are amazing. Sad I slept on this group for so long, they have an amazing catalog of music.
Dokyeom always had an interest in musicals (he auditioned with a song from Jekyll and Hyde) but had no formal training prior to training to be an idol. He was casted to be in the Excalibur musical in 2019, and some of that training may have also affected him in the more recent clips, so you're right in saying that he has a background in musicals, but only in the sense that he was an idol first and a musical actor after that. He's amazing!

Woozi, a producer and member of SEVENTEEN, says that Dokyeom is a very hard worker. Also, he is so strict with himself that he has cried because he thought it didn't work out well while recording. I think this effort and sensitivity made him what he is today. But sometimes it hurts to see him flogging himself even though he's doing so well. But I really support him as he continues to grow. His fans love his happy expression as he sings. I think that's always delivered as a happy virus to both singers and listeners. I'm glad you felt that!!

16:45 As far as I know, his “roots” are not in musical theater. He did act as a lead actor in a musical show before, but he wasn’t trained growing up to be a theater singer. He actually studied practical dancing as a major in his high school.

When I was learning the members, I always could tell DK by his "Just so Happy to be here" vibe he gives off in all aspects of his personality and voice. We recently saw him perform with Seventeen in Atlanta and he was having the Best time!

I grew up in musical theatre and when I first heard DK sing I knew he was the best singer I had ever heard in kpop.
Looking back from his pre debut days when they given a task (Seventeen Project:Debut big plan) when the judges told DK his voice wasn't enough, and he doesn't look like the main vocalist. He cried and that made him stronger that made him the 2022 version of hiself. 🥹🥹🥹

listen, i was a musical theatre enthusiast before i got to know kpop and now i'm a multi in kpop so you could say i've heard MANY different vocals and to this day DK still has my favorite voice in all of kpop

it's alr 3am and i have a class tomorrow 8am, but i just can't stop watching people praising & appreciating dk's voice. it gives me life. It added a lot of yrs to my life span.
I saw them live and have never had more fun. Seventeen is such a blessing. DK is SO consistent in bringing the quality vocals, in tune, strong, powerful, beautiful. His voice really shows off all of the beautiful melodies Woozi writes for Seventeen. Kidult shows how much emotion he can convey. Hot is such a dance beat kind of song that you wouldn't think "oh this song will have killer vocals" but out comes DK like an early 90's Martha Wash. Like...every member of Seventeen has something so important to add and DK is no exception. And i really think what he adds is the the stength of his vocals as well as his sunshiney personality

I was fortunate to attend one of their recent concerts in the US, and I was blown away. Every high note he hit it was something that I don’t even have words to describe. And the fact that he was doing all this without barely opening his mouth, I had already noticed in the videos but seeing in live was incredible.

One of the things that made me fall in love with Dokyeomie was the way he sing smiling when he made that I feel in haven... I never see anyone like he, when hi makes it is so surreal, he is like an angel.. I just wanna to tell hi is an amazing, talented, cute, funny, lovely, warm and strong person that I ever met, words can't explain my love and admiration for him I'm so proud for him

I was able to see seventeen lives multiple times and they are great! DK is a powerhouse! I just love how clear his voice is and even when i don’t understand Korean, I felt like I understood even word he was singing! Love him .. his energy and joy just makes it even better. Our happy virus!

The group recently participated in a Dingo show called Tipsy Live 2. They were all around a table eating and drinking and singing. It was impressive how well DK (and S Coups) sang even while super tipsy and very emotional! (If you watch that know that Woozie doesn't drink and so when he asked for something to drink, DK was honored to be able to be the one to fill his cup.)

Before becoming a Carat, the first thing that impressed me about SEVENTEEN was DK's vocals. Heck, I didn't even know that he was apart of SEVENTEEN. Saw his live performance and I was hooked. Easily, K-pop's top 3
You two totally broke down why dk is my favorite singer!! He really is so talented and skilled and it’s so amazing how much he’s grown and improved since debut in 2015. Listening to his solo ballads like “You’re My Christmas” makes me so emotional and happy. Like he’s so good at everything! His enunciation is improving with his musical theater experience and his facial expressions are so amazing and Dokyeom’s voice is so versatile as well! I also like to listen to clips of DK’s lower register soft singing as well also very sweet☺️also DK’s adlibs are so fun and incredible as well! I think you would be impressed with his adlib riffs as well like his run at the end of Left and Right which he makes look so effortless. I also admire facial expressions! Thank you so much for praising DK’s vocals!

Literally gonna tear up watching this. DK used to be a singer and an individual who lacks self confidence cause he wasnt satisfied with his voice, even to the point he cries abt it, however, he challenged himself and keeps improving and surpass that insecurity and now became the most happiest, positive and relax (as you said) and enjoy himself to the fullest cause he really loves to sing and perform, thus, that's his motivation. Y'all gave truly gave detailed outlooks and i love how you demonstrated and explained his range, methods and execution. I've learned and gathered the points as i can hehe.
