- Octavia Aquino, 4, was pronounced dead after being found unresponsive at an apartment in Evansville, Indiana last week. The girl’s mother, Destiny Rhoades, and Rhoades’ 16-year-old “boyfriend,” Christian Gonzalez, were both arrested. According to an affidavit, officers saw bruises on the child, as well as what appeared to be a human bite mark on her arm. Law&Crime’s Jesse Weber breaks down the disturbing allegations from a police affidavit and speaks with the victim's grandmother, Linda Alvarez, about the heartbreaking case.

Yeah, my Nakita in the background got very upset from me crying. She was barking and jumping on me cause she didn't understand what was wrong. When I was done doing the podcast she jumped on my lap and kept nudging me with her head and licking my face. She definitely knew I needed some love at that moment.

I'm usually not in favour of upgrading minors to adults for the sake prosecution but in this case, he's established himself as independent of his parents and is a live-in, co-parenting relationship. He's an adult now

It’s not irrelevant at all. Proving that the defendant is lying is not irrelevant. And showing that the defendant did this with no real provocation makes him look worse. Doesn’t matter if the reason for him doing it was justified or not; someone who kills with no provocation is always viewed as worse than those who kill because they are reacting to something. For example, if someone walks in on their wife in bed with another man and reacts by killing them, that is not as bad as someone who kills his wife without provocation. That is why they would be charged with 2nd degree murder and not 1st. We are slightly more lenient towards those who react to something than those who do something with pre thought. Try to think outside the box

I’m so sick of mothers who allow their children to be hurt by these terrible excuses for human beings … grandma should never have allowed her to remain with that terrible mother 😡

You say it like this has not been happening since the beginning of time. It’s just usually an older men with a younger girl. Bet he was taller than her and no one could easy tell he was a minor.
Grandma broke my heart…I cannot imagine her & her son’s pain right now. What a beautiful little girl Octavia was & what an amazing decision her Dad made to donate her organs to save others! Octavia will live on & save other lives!
