I was so used to calling the Mecha Sonic in Sonic 2 "Silver Sonic" and this one in 3&K "Mecha Sonic", but them being called Mecha Sonic Mk I and Mecha Sonic Mk II is actually a way more badass naming convention. I like it.

i dont like it at all. they look nothing alike. Mecha Mk2 looks more like Metal Sonic. Id be more fine is the Sonic 2 one was called Mecha and this was Metal Sonic Mk 2 instead.
Aside from the questionable ways sega is selling this game, this series compliments the classics so well! It gives new fans knowledge and context on what they are playing, in a funny and light hearted way!

Sonic 3 & Knuckles is a game I haven't been able to play until Sonic Origins. And I gotta say, I have been really enjoying it! Edit: I see everybody Is saying things like "This isn't good for a first time" and "This version Is really bad". But, in my opinion, it's not that bad and I haven't experienced any glitches.

When I was making a Tool Assisted Speedrun of this prototype, I found out the drop dash was actually a single frame of a spindash. Just like it's with Sonic 1 and 2.

I think my favorite things about S3&K in this collection is the fact that Tails can go super without needing the super emeralds. About time! Also, gotta love that they introduced the mechanic to fly with Tails(while aying Sonic) even in single player mode, as well as the new sprites

The regular chaos emeralds did nothing for him -In the original game, again, you needed a second controller to make Sonic fly with Tails. Controlling Tails flight with a single controller was first introduced in a official game in Sonic Mania(or, arguably, in Sonic Advance 3) -Lastly, I noticed there are some new sprites when Sonic is looking at the emeralds in Hidden Palace and thought it was cool :v

I love this series so much! This series proves how it introduces new Sonic fans in the new generation who have never experienced playing the first few classic Sonic games before. Props to Evan aka Mardiculous (from Tails’ Channel)’s narration for being informative, fun, and charming with a great sense of humor.
Tip about the characters, they all essentially act as difficulty settings. Sonic & Tails = Easy Sonic = Normal Tails = Easy Knuckles = Hard Knuckles jumps lower than the other characters and Eggrobo is much harder to take down than Dr. Eggman, he uses the same mechs but with a small quirk that makes him harder, same with sub bosses

Not Knuckles fault he was tricked by Eggman, Knuckles literally have never seen anyone outside of his island, Eggman just happened to be the first person he meets. A lot of fans forget that little detail, they just assume Knuckles know who Sonic, Tails, and Eggman already during Sonic 3
Yeah, people think that he should know Sonic is the good guy because of the mural in the background of his boss fight, but that mural doesn't say who the good guy is. Of course, we know it's Sonic because we know his moral alignment, but Knuckle doesn't know that, so he probably mistook Sonic to be the bad guy in the mural. This accompanied with the fact the Eggman tricks him into thinking Sonic's the bad guy also contributes to that

Gonna be honest, with everything surrounding the really crappy stuff about this collection, the Speed Strats videos are unironically the best things to come out of the release of this game.
Their pretty much everything I read in the manuals 30 years ago (jeez, it's been a while). I'm more interested in the challenge modes. Oddly, this video-manual left our what green spheres do (they're not in the original games).
I haven't experienced any crappy stuff in this collection, except maybe the new songs they've replaced in Sonic 3 (RIP Ice Cap Zone ;_;), but other than that the game plays fine to me and I've beaten all four games.
It's nothing new, these spheres (along with the purple ones) were PLANNED since the first proof-of-concept of a Sonic 3 remaster was shown, however due to SEGA rejecting the project, green and purple spheres wouldn't officially appear until Sonic Mania and then would appear again in Sonic Origins on New Blue Spheres
Hopefully this isn't the last in the series, I'm really enjoying it! Edit: Aaaand of course I comment that before watching the full thing. So there will be another episode next Wednesday about the "secrets" in Origins. That's nice and all, but I would love to see more videos in this format. Maybe a Frontiers Speed Strats in the future once the game releases? We'll see.

He was always a good guy, but because he's naive and, according to Cosmo from Sonic X, wants to see the best in people, he got taken advantage of by Eggman's sob story.
if knuckles's story really does take place after sonic and tails deal with eggman, that means angel island got firebombed twice and that there are two flying batteries and two copies of every midboss and boss machine. this also means marble garden zone got returned back to its original shape before getting terraformed again
I believe Marble Garden is indeed able to reform due to the Master Emeralds influence somehow. But everything other than that is just Dr. Eggman/Egg Robo pulling robots out of nowhere lol
Or each boss/machine got repurposed when the Egg Robo went rogue. It's not like we saw the Flying Battery crash or anything. The only thing that def had to happen twice was Angel Island Zone getting torched

Sonic 3 & Knuckles > Super Mario World. I still love SMW as it was my first video game I've ever played but I was entirely blown away by the experience of S3&K the first time I played it.

I had such an epic experience playing Sonic 3 & Knuckles and I could never forget the memories of playing it.
I love this collection. Good work, Sega. Sonic's 30th Anniversary (Actually 31st) is shaping up to be a spectacular celebration. The Netflix show Sonic Prime, Sonic Speed Simulator on Roblox, Sonic Colors Ultimate, Sonic in Minecraft, Sonic Frontiers, Sonic Movie 2 and this! What a great time to be a Sonic fan!

As far as I remember, orginally it could not. It was called Double Spin Attack in Japan, the name Insta-Shield used to be a mistranslation of that. Nevertheless, the fanbase created several romhacks, where the ability became faithful to its name and since then it has become canon.
That was a great episode for my favorite 2D Sonic game 😁 I really want the super emeralds to return but I severely doubt it'll happen... I'm just glad that it's common knowledge at this point 😊
Did you know, that if you mash the a button while in BOTH Sonic 2's Casino Night's Slot Machine and in the Slot Machine Bonus Stage in S3&K, you are more likely to hit a Jackpot or either Sonic, Tails, or Knuckles' faces. And did I mention that you could have Knuckles in Sonic 2 but not in Sonic 1?
Sonic 3 & Knuckles was a combination of two games. The Super Emeralds were just an excuse to make you go through the special stages again. According to an interview, they didn't stick with them so they didn't have to make a power scale and "look like a certain anime with lots of transformations"
Sega finally acknowledged the super emeralds, hyper sonic, and super mecha sonic after years of saying they’re not canon. That’s the best thing I got from this.
the speed strats videos are amazing. they summarise the games they're talking about, has (somewhat) useful information, and has jokes and humour to spice it up. if i were to give it a rating from 1 to 10, i'd give it a yes out of 10.
I did not know the Mecha Sonic in this game is a mark 2, because I've always thought the Mecha Sonic in Sonic 2 was named Silver Sonic. But, you live and learn something new every day, I guess.
To be frank, this is supposed to be the Main/Videogame canon version of Mecha Sonic from S3&K, aka Mecha Sonic Mk.II But I am not sure of the narrator calling Mecha Sonic Mk.II "Fan-favorite" because of a fan interpretation of the character's role in SMBZ. Since that interpretation of Mecha Sonic was from a Sprite animation series that has nothing to do with the main canon.
I can say that Sonic becomes Modern Sonic in Sonic 3. My friend DJ explained how the Classic and Modern timeliness are the same, I don't remember anything because he makes it way too detailed. Edit: I remembered some stuff, Amy says that hasn't seen Sonic for a while. Think of Sonic cd.
It's an understatement to say I wanna see the Sonic Heroes, Unleashed, Adventure, Advance Battle, Rivals, Rush, Dark Chronicles Of The Brotherhood Storybook, Shadow The Hedgehog games all remastered/updated someday. & remake Sonic '06.
A collection of the Advance games or the Adventure + Heroes games would be cool. Maybe the Advance collection could feature Sonic Battle as well since Sonic Advance 3 connects to it
Heroes definitely needs a re-release. At the very least, they need to make the original xbox version backwards compatible. Preferably with 4K/widescreen enhancements.

I believe Marble Garden is indeed able to reform due to the Master Emeralds influence somehow. But everything other than that is just Dr. Eggman/Egg Robo pulling robots out of nowhere lol
Or each boss/machine got repurposed when the Egg Robo went rogue. It's not like we saw the Flying Battery crash or anything. The only thing that def had to happen twice was Angel Island Zone getting torched

Sonic 3 & Knuckles > Super Mario World. I still love SMW as it was my first video game I've ever played but I was entirely blown away by the experience of S3&K the first time I played it.

@@heftyrumble what makes this game far more unique than its prequels are its level exploration, its hidden secret rings, its challenging Blue Sphere mini game, the game's level design itself, its god-tier awesome soundtrack, its legendary brilliant StoryTelling, the new abilities that sonic is given, a new playable character and rival to Sonic (Which is Knuckles) and the list goes on. I had such an epic experience playing Sonic 3 & Knuckles and I could never forget the memories of playing it.
I would never forget the days playing the ever living heck out of this game. Good times....

As far as I remember, orginally it could not. It was called Double Spin Attack in Japan, the name Insta-Shield used to be a mistranslation of that. Nevertheless, the fanbase created several romhacks, where the ability became faithful to its name and since then it has become canon.

Sonic 3 & Knuckles was a combination of two games. The Super Emeralds were just an excuse to make you go through the special stages again.
According to an interview, they didn't stick with them so they didn't have to make a power scale and "look like a certain anime with lots of transformations"

Sega finally acknowledged the super emeralds, hyper sonic, and super mecha sonic after years of saying they’re not canon. That’s the best thing I got from this.

But I am not sure of the narrator calling Mecha Sonic Mk.II "Fan-favorite" because of a fan interpretation of the character's role in SMBZ. Since that interpretation of Mecha Sonic was from a Sprite animation series that has nothing to do with the main canon.

It's an understatement to say I wanna see the Sonic Heroes, Unleashed, Adventure, Advance Battle, Rivals, Rush, Dark Chronicles Of The Brotherhood Storybook, Shadow The Hedgehog games all remastered/updated someday. & remake Sonic '06.

A collection of the Advance games or the Adventure + Heroes games would be cool. Maybe the Advance collection could feature Sonic Battle as well since Sonic Advance 3 connects to it
Heroes definitely needs a re-release. At the very least, they need to make the original xbox version backwards compatible. Preferably with 4K/widescreen enhancements.
