Update: I just learned today that the current status of Google Workspace necessitates more than one individual to be part of the Google Business Workspace account to have HIPAA compliance through it for your Google Voice number.

I just signed up for Google Workspace last night. I need to sign the BAA, but my dashboard doesn't look like yours when I login. Did Google change something? Or do I have to wait until my free trial ends to sign it? I really can't even take advantage of the free trial until I can sign the BAA.
Great video on workplace/hippa. One question: I put "disabled" for sharing options. This wasn't in the video, but it showed up in things to sign on the legal/compliance section. . It wasn't really clear what would be shared, by whom and to whom. Leaving it as "disabled" for now. Please advise. Thanks. MK
Can you use Google Workspace for writing therapy notes? I am thinking if it is HIPPA secure to keep track of everything and have client folders under google drive??
Is their anything else that you use Google workspace for besides email? Just wondering now that I’ve signed up what else will I use it for. Do you have any thoughts on business credit and if it’s necessary for therapists in private practice? I also use their calendar feature! It's awesome to have a HIPAA-secure place to keep track of my appointments digitally :) I honestly don't know much of anything about business credit 🤷♀️ Unless you're maybe referring to the advantages of having a credit card for your biz? @@PrivatePracticeSkills Strictly speaking, if one did not want to go with a traditional EHR, can one cobble together a "poor man's" EHR using Google Workspace?
@@hijas_bellas you likely can, as it has most of the component. What it's lacking is the billing features often found in EHR (invoice creation, submission, receipt of payment, etc). Workspace and EHR fees for solo practice can be pretty low. I prefer to have both in place, and use Workspace more for my admin aspects and saving personalized forms that I can then send as an attachment through my EHR portal.
Correct! It just makes the software HIPAA-secure, a very important distinction. A BAA just means the software provider will comply with HIPAA on their end, but it is up to us to use the software in a HIPAA-compliant manner

This is third party info... I have been informed that simply signing a BAA with Google Workspace does not make Workspace email HIPAA compliant.
