I undestand the cheap fix, but i have burnt myself on repairs like this before, the best repair apart from replacing the harness is changing entire wire from connector and make the solder joint inside the door were the loom doesn’t move. Solder joints in that flexi part of the door tend to brake.
95tt I hear what you're saying mate if I had to solve a number of Wires inside the door flex I wouldn't do it this way with because it was only one I was ok and I could get away with putting covers around the rest
Thanks for the explanation on what you’re doing. I have a passenger front window that won’t go up or down. Currently it’s in the down position, but opened 2 inches. I live in Seattle and it’s raining! Would you help me please?
I just got myself the same polo as a first car and suspect similar issue, speakers dont work when door shut, windows are working funny.. will take a look but I don't have facilities to solder etc, should I disconect battery before touching exposed wires? Thanks v helpfull vid
Ya habia desarmado la puerta y estaba casi a bajar el motor y vi este video que me salvo la vida, fui a mi carro y mire esos cables y efectivamente eran esos cables. Estoy agradecido y muchas gracias.
Interesting instructive video. I'm here because I have a vw pOLO Mk 4... I fitted new battery which has confused the locking system. Rear door opens and closes as I'm driving!!! Locked it up and went to supermarket. Came back out and both front windows had lowered themselves fully though they were obviously closed when I locked it. Puzzled. Also the alarm keeps going off randomly. Is there a way to reset the alarm system please?
very entertaining :-) thank you for taking the time & trouble to shoot the vid. Helpful for me actually as I'm replacing the window regulator on my 2004 Lupo and it was great to find out how easy it is to isolate the door electrics with one plug!
Great video all vws of that era suffer this I think it's the wire covering seems to go brittle over the years nice tutorial for a very nagging problem have a great day mate
LMAO at the bullet connector all it does is stress the area more and cause more wires to break. Nice isolation and repair...quick & easy!! Those biscuits are good especially with some German spaghetti ice cream!!
55 seconds in...and I'm gonna guess it's a problem with the flex wiring in the door jamb. I can't think of anything else that would connect the door moving with the passenger window wiring, but most cars I've tinkered with have all the window wiring passing through the driver's door switches first. **sits back, grabs some popcorn, and waits to see how it gets "SORTED!"** :-D
Hi mate thanks a lot unfortunate I can't remember but I normally go off the amperage not the gauge because the American gauge is different to the UK gauge it gets very complicated
@@saeed17 hi mate there's a few ways of doing it you can measure the outside diameter of the wire that will give you the thickness or you can measure the inside and you can work out how much amps the wire can draw alternatively depending on what you are working on just figure out what the highest temperature will be on that and get your wire to correspond to that but obviously always go higher and amperage and what the circuit will allow this will stop problems in the future
Hi mate it's a possibility and definitely worth checking out but if both of them stopped at the same time I don't think this is your problem check your fuses and your relays as well
Hi Leon. I have a similar problem with my 57 plate L&K Octavia Mark 2 the nearside rear window goes down on its own after I've locked the car also when I press the window up the window goes down when I press the window down the window goes up. Can you help me on this one please my friend. Thanks buddy. ...Jim.
@@bodgitandleggitgarage Hi buddy. Thanks for gettin back to me. Ive had the door cards off the drivers door is bone dry & the same with the rear nearside card too & thats bone dry aswell. Everything else works fine just that 1 window working in reverse order for some reason. But its not water ingress causing it. I just wish i could get it sorted coz if i lock the car some time upto an hour later the rear near side window opens, if all the windows are open & i lock the car the 3 windows close but that 1 stays open, if i close that 1 & the other 3 then lock the car that 1 opens again at amy timw uoto an hour later. So its deffo just that 1 working in reverse for some reason. Not a wet or water problem. Have you any other ideas please. Thanks Leon. ...Jim.
@@bodgitandleggitgarage Hl Leon. That was a good one and it made me laugh. I'm glad it was an easy one to find. The fix is a bit troublesome but at least you can sit. Oh yeah, those are great snacks. My wife is from Germany so she makes sure we have some treats around. Your going to like those.
Hello my friend how are you ? I have skoda fabia 2006 and my window just dont open when i remove fuse and put again works for 5 min and dont work again ? If you can help me thnx a milion times ?
Hi there's a few things it could be one of the motor could be pulling too much amperage and the control unit is shutting it down for safety reasons the other one could be because the window is slipped out of adjustment and putting too much pressure on the motor you're going to have to open the door panel check all the connections get an amp metre see exactly what the motor is pulling and go from there
