      This video should show how to rank website once you know the keyword. Not telling you how to choose a keyword. 20 minutes in and didnt mentiones anything about ranking
      Update:Didnt mentioned anything about RANKINGS.

    • @VictorFoote01
      @VictorFoote01 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nottoday4380 The entire video is about ranking. The questions you should be asking yourself during the video is "Why is this important"? "Why does he mention this?" Skimmed through some of the video, but to simplify it for you, this is what he mentions in the video
      1. writing more then the competing article helps
      2. using custom photos helps you rank higher (stock photos are bad to use - from personal experience this is very true)
      3. linking out to qualified high DA sources helps.
      All this works as long as the keyword you are trying to rank for doesn't have that much competition in the top 10 results. And it if does, its just going to be more work.
      It seems confusing now but the more you look into SEO the easier it will get for you :) Good luck!

    Hello Nathan, I am a big fan of your channel / videos, it is bringing so much value for me, thank you so much. I have a question about your process to qualify keyword. To do it you are using the "Search volume" in #1 criteria. Of course, it a super important criteria , but don't you think the "Traffic" criteria in AHREF is even more important that "Search volume" ? I hope you will take some time to answer me, and I expect to see more of your contents in the futur.

    • @nathangotch
      @nathangotch  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! Ahrefs "Traffic" metric is an estimation of traffic based on search volume and possible CTR. It's useful, but I still go with search volume as a lead metric

  • @aaronvigil9910
    @aaronvigil9910 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    HEY GOTCH, I have a question... when your looking at an auction domain to buy it looks like someone 301 redirect there old site to their new one, however the "new" domain dropped and went into auction would it still be okay to buy even though you are doing a second 301 to another site? Thanks!

    • @nathangotch
      @nathangotch  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Aaron, yeah that shouldn't be a problem as long as the expired domain hasn't been used for any blackhat activity (and it's high quality).

    @saurabhbisht8121 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    This is definitely valuable among the rest of the videos out there. Along with what has been explained I also look at the keyword density of these other websites have and try to match it. Is that a good metric or we should not look into kd?

    • @nathangotch
      @nathangotch  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks man! I don't personally match keyword density. Instead, I just focus on proper keyword placement and write naturally

  • @NashidBashar
    @NashidBashar 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey Nathan do you think exact match domain still works? Should we target exact match domain? Please discuss about it.

  • @IvanJuras
    @IvanJuras 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thanks, Nathan. Quick question: what do you do when you're starting from scratch, and your domain doesn't have any authority? Do you just give up on the keywords and try to rank the longtail version instead?

    • @nathangotch
      @nathangotch  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question Ivan. Yes, I focus on low competition, long-tail keyword for new websites and then slowly work my way up to more competitive keywords (with higher search volume) as my website authority grows

    Hey Nathan, amazing blueprint on how to rank for keywords. Congrats I think its gonna be a great series of videos, looking forward to it!!! One question you mentioned the outbound links how important do you think it is to link to authority pages from your page and whats your take on linking to competitors in your niche that are already considered as authorities for that Keyword ranking on the first few places in the SERP? Especially with respect to Link Juice and do you think that is important in the beginning of setting up your page or should be done later on too? Cheers and Congrats again!!! :)

    • @nathangotch
      @nathangotch  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you Florian! I'll usually link out to "authoritative" resources like .gov, .edu, etc, but I'll also link to authority websites in the whatever niche I'm working in. Some of those may be close competitors. One quick tip that I didn't mention is that it's a good idea to link out to other bloggers in your niche because it's one of the fastest ways to build relationships with them. Better relationships = higher chances to score links

    • @nathangotch
      @nathangotch  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Answer to the last question - I place them before publishing. I think the trust signal of having external links beats any loss of link equity overall

    • @FlorianMueller87
      @FlorianMueller87 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cool, thanks for the tips especially linking out to other bloggers for relationship building is pretty nice I think.

    Hi Nathan. Great package of video and downloads. In the next video, could you share more of your mega-helpful thoughts // examples on how we do more 'quick scan' reviews of Page 1 results so we know 'What are we up against' -- and what we do next (skip it or work hard to compete)!
    What are encouraging signs (and discouraging ones) in competing with bigger guys -- commerce sites, brand sites (eg Travelocity, etc.) , forums or even old content 3+ years old, etc. Thanks.

    • @nathangotch
      @nathangotch  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Vance,
      Yes, for sure! I actually call that a "10-second competitor analysis". I'll make sure to cover that in the next one.

      Cool Nathan. I look forward to that (spend more than 10 secs on it tho :) I really like your no-nonsense approach. I'm a content guy - not an SEO tech - building a new niche site. Your videos make SEO very approachable, and even a glimmer of hope that I can rank. (btw - kudos to Ruan (I see him on here too). I first 'met' you on his channel on a great Q&A you guys did.

  • @ronkincaid9107

    For keyword competition analysis, do you ever consider:
    1) PA & DA of the results on the first page of Google?
    2) Visual inspection of the results on the first page of Google without using Ahrefs & BuzzSumo?

    • @nathangotch
      @nathangotch  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Ron, yes I'll use the Moz toolbar for a quick analysis, but if a keyword passes that test, I'll go into a deeper analysis (analyzing links, anchor text, content, etc)

      Nathan, I've got a question if can answer it, it's pretty much interesting.
      There is a site ranking for a keyword on the fourth position, but the site has no good DA/PA or great backlinks or many good backlinks in compare to any site in the list, nor its content is great. there is no redirection also.
      What's beyond DA/Pa/Redirects/Good-contents that site rank for a competitive keyword.

    • @KamranKhanOnline

      Here is one snapshot you might want to see. prnt.sc/jik3cs

      The second site in the list

    • @nathangotch
      @nathangotch  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Kamran, well first I wouldn't use DA/PA as your guiding light for determing the reasons why a page is ranking well. Those are just third party metrics. However, in a case like this, when there seems to be a lack of backlinks, authority, and quality content, it's usually an indication that there's something going on behind the scenes. Meaning, they're probably using PBNs and blocking link crawlers. It could also just be an anomaly.
