    This is a kit i've been looking at getting and thanks to your video I think I just may get it, without all the bells and whistles lol I have been buying non LEGO kits for a while but frankly LEGO has become too expensive for my bank account. But I still enjoy putting these 1:8 scale kits together and there are many companies that offer original kits for broke folks like me lol As for the scratches on your CaDa kit. It's a military Humvee, of course it's going to have scratches on it 😁 Great video. Keep up the good work 👍

      Good to hear from you Kevin! If you are comfortable with a few scratched or marked parts then go for it, I think you will enjoy building this CaDa Humvee for sure. And @ $190 (with the discount) delivered (without the motorisation) it is good value I think for what you get. Agreed, Lego can be very expensive!

    Great job neutralising the magpie. I hate birds. Might get this kit to fight more of them.

    • @CraftedBricks
      @CraftedBricks  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you Fenolly! It's a great looking set, it's a shame about the scratches and markings on the panels and large parts, but if you step back a bit it looks really good in person.

    Great detailed review. 14seconds in and I couldn't help but notice the tyres 🙃 Definetly a pro having multiple parts per step unlike TLG who seem to think 1 part per step is more than enough.

    • @CraftedBricks
      @CraftedBricks  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Haha it's so funny, with me 100% focused on progressively filming the build and doing all the work to shoot the video scenes I didn't even notice the tyre tread on 2x tyres is alternated. You are the second person to spot that. Easy fix though! And agreed re the instructions. I recall with older style (vintage) Lego instructions they were a lot better with including more steps per page making the build experience enjoyable and challenging.

      @@CraftedBricks easy to miss when so much work goes into the video. I tip my hat to you. Looks like a great set but I'm not sure I can branch out from LEGO, even for a licensed set such as this.

    Great insight to swap out the weaker axel to the carbon fiber one. At 5:13 I noticed that you have 2 tire treads going "counter" and 2 going "with" the vehicle. Do they come that way from CADA? Could they be changed to allow maximum traction?

    • @CraftedBricks
      @CraftedBricks  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Damn your keen eyes! Hahaha! Yes I see now that I have the treads on two of the tyres are going counter, and yes you could reverse them by removing the tyres from the hubs and re-orienting/fitting them. But it's not the tyres that affected the model's performance outdoors - it's just not designed for outdoor play (Motorised Lego models aren't either), the small gears in the differentials, even when locked, will slip when the model is heavily challenged. The outdoor tests were fun but there were a lot of failed attempts while shooting the scenes! Total worth it though!

      @@CraftedBricks Oh you flatter me Sir. I agree with most Technic is underpowered (even with XL motors) compaired to RC cars or buggies. Again an excellent build nonetheless.

      Hi Mark, thank you! I did buy the Mercedes AMG One, but I'm time poor at the moment so I don't have the ~40 hours the build + video + photography would take to make a review video on it. Sorry! That said I have committed to CaDa that when they release Suhwan Ji's Lotus model I'll do a review video for that model. : ) instagram.com/jmt_lego_automobil/?hl=en

    A truly comprehensive and in-depth review for anyone interested in this set. Especially the suggestion of swapping the 12L axle with a carbon fibre one beforehand, it is definitely worth mentioning in the title and thumbnail picture since it would surely save a lot of people a lot of time. Thank you very much! I think your channel deserves more subs.

      Hi James - I'm really happy that you enjoyed the video and that you found it helpful! It's a too late for me to include the axle fix / change in the Thumbnail and it wouldn't make sense to extend the title - but I'll amend the description to include mention of it. : ) Thanks for commenting and all the best!

      Hi. Excellent video! Is the 12 l carbon axle 9.6mm (12 axle) or 12.8mm (16 axle)? I'm a bit confused in what metric/imperial system it's measured. Thank you! And keep up the good work!

    Great review again Simon! Very informative!
    You made me laugh when you mentioned scratches and at the end of the video drive it through tight hard greenery. Any extra scratches after that move?!
    Seriously though, if we keep buying CaDa, will allow them to improve quality in future.

    Awesome review. Thank you for putting such high emphasis on production quality and limiting the use of music. Speaking of which, the driving segment was great. I wonder, though; would including the set number in the video title bring in more views?

      @CraftedBricks  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi vVeazel, I'm glad you enjoyed and liked the video! I've updated the title of the video to include the set number, let's see if it makes a difference. For me at the moment I'm just focusing on creating good quality and helpful content for our Lego/MOC enthusiast community and I hope that that translates to channel growth over time. Eventually I'd love to do this full time, but I'm years away from that I think!

    Greetings, I realize that you posted this video quite some time ago but, having just completed this kit I felt compelled to leave this comment!!
    First off, a huge Thank You! I actually came across this review some time ago (which you did a superb job on) and based on your review immediately purchased the Humvee kit. I am sooo glad I did! It is perfectly engineered and by far (including many L@#O kits) one of the best, most challenging and rewarding kits I've ever assembled. I have since purchased multiple CaDA kits and have not been disappointed once in the quality, instructions or final product! I wish more folks would come to the realization that there is a wonderful building experience to be had within and without the L@#O universe. There are truly viable and more affordable options without quality sacrifice. Thanks again and I hope for your continued success.

      Hi William, I saw your comment in the morning and it brought a huge smile to my face, thank you for leaving it! I'm glad you enjoyed building the Humvee and that it's inspired you to try out other CaDa sets. I too like their more complex and involved instructions and building style, it's a refreshing and rewarding challenge. I do still think their part quality needs improvement but I agree with you it is very good. Thanks again for posting and have a superb weekend ahead! cheers, Simon

      Hi Min Min - thanks for commenting and I'm glad you enjoyed the video. I've had several people ask me about the Shuttle so I need to prioritise it. But unfortunately I will work on it in April and can't earlier. The reason is I only have 7 weeks to go until the Canberra Lego Expo and I'm exhibiting my Castle MOC - so I need to get it done + MOC instructions + photography + the videos (there will be x2). So much work. The Shuttle upgrades will happen though!!!
