  • Bonjour Everyone! In this Video, I do an experiment where I style my curls without brushing through on one side, and use my detangling brush to distribute the products before styling on the other side. What side will have better curl definition, volume and less frizz? Let's find out!

    The side without the brush looks more good in my opinion 💁🏼‍♀️ even if you have frizz you still have volume and curl definition. On the other side the roots are sooo flat. I loved the comparison 🥰

    This is basically my routine until I realized finger coiling the top layer after products are in gets those roots lifted and the curl pattern as close to the scalp as possible. I comb those sections out upward. No patience to finger coil whole head like some people and just cleaning up the top makes it all look nice.

    The end result, in my personal opinion, I prefer the side that is done by hand. Even if it has a little frizz, it has a lot more body. I like that.

    Great point about the more water on the side that was brushed. Maybe a repeat video is needed bc I think the water is a big key and perhaps there would be less frizz on the unbrushed side if more water was used?

    Loved the video. I guess it comes down to who we are and what we want in a certain day and moment. Rocking big frizzy hair all depends on personality and not having "a care in the world" you know? Dont get me wrong, its GREAT! To me curls are cool ALWAYS. I do it sometimes becuse i get frustrated by how fast it frizzes up. Your hair looked beautyfull on both sides. The flat roots would have been taking care of with a denmin brush. In my case, I prefer, the majority of the time, is to brush, becuse day 1 frizz means my day 2 will be a disaster and so on. I prefer "short", very defined, less frizz vs "long", a bit defined and more frizz.. Im the kind that can't get past day 2 or 3 without not having to put up my hair or invent some "do" with some scarf, pins, or whatever. I love that brush and towel. As soon as I have some $ ill purchase them from you. Love your channel and your personality. Your endings are always so heartwarming and you can tell its from your heart. I hope that 30% will subscribe becuse you really deserve it. The first time I saw you, I subscribed! Love your family too. Y'all show so much love, its enchanting to watch. I wish for you the the best!

    I like the comparison of one side brushed and one not. I think both sides look great 👍. The one question I have is why did you use two leave-ins? The Garnier Fructis is a leave-in and isn't the Kinky Curly Knot Today also a leave-in? Just curious. Love your videos. 😊

    • @LuisaLouis
      @LuisaLouis  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Jessie! I choose to use 2 leave ins because my hair needed the extra moisture. I like to use Garnier because it brings that extra moisture without weighing my hair down. Hope that answers you question. 😊

      @jessiestephens3943 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LuisaLouis thanks Luisa, it does answer my question. I also need the extra moisture. For me I'd be concerned about weighing down my hair. I also use Garnier Fructis as a leave-in. I'm going to check out Amazon to see if I can find another lightweight leave-in. 😊

    Thanks for the experiment. The difference between your 2 sides is so small that it's hardly noticeable. I just tried Uncle Funkys Daughter curling gel, and I was very happy with the results. I got such nice spirals, which I seldom get. I felt that I needed a little bit of light weight gel over it and that worked well.

    Hi Luisa thanks for another nice video! I love brushing through my products since I started doing it that way,I would never go back to not brushing , but thats just me😉.. Can I ask you something about refreshing? I always rewet my hair completely, and add a little bit of leave-in and my gel. Is that bad for my hair? I've read somewhere it can dry out your hair,but then I do use leave-in,so I don't know? I just CAN'T do a damp refresh.

    • @LuisaLouis
      @LuisaLouis  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Corne Swartz!
      I can't do damp refresh too!! 😆 Just like you, I add leave-in AND gel on day 2. I believe what would hurt your hair is the alcohol contained in most gels, which has a drying effect on your hair. But by adding the leave-in you re-balance everything, so you should be good to go.
      Have you give the Gelebration Spray from Jessicurl? one of my fav for refresh days. It's a good balance between hydration and hold. You can alway add more gel if you feel the need 😉.

      @@LuisaLouis thanks so much! Can I ask what your opinion is on hygral fatigue and if you think my current routine of washing every other day and rewetting on the non wash days can cause this?🌺 My hair seems fine but I've read on some group daily wet hair can give hair hygral fatigue and it worries me a bit now..😉🤔

    • @LuisaLouis
      @LuisaLouis  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@corneswartz2774 I think Hygral fatigue is a thing, especially when you change your hair routine from barely any products in your hair to CGM. However, there are lots of factors to take into consideration like, your hair type, how damage is it, what product you use, how hard is your water... That's why I advise to experiment for yourself and listen to your hair. If you believe you are experiencing Hygral fatigue, try to not wet style your hair every day for a week and see if you notice a difference. 😉
      Also, I made a typo in my previous reply. I meant to say I can't do WITHOUT damp refresh too! 😅

  • @robynklatt9424

    I have two questions. First do you normally do all your styling in the shower or out? Also, when you brush do you twist the brush when you get to your ends or just brush normally? I like both sides. The side with frizz wasn’t bad at all. More like functional frizz. I want to try adding the Garnier like you did. I only use in the shower as a one minute mask.

    • @LuisaLouis
      @LuisaLouis  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey Robyn!
      I start my styling in the shower by applying the heavier product (Garnier or Cantu) on mid-length to ends and finish outside the shower with lighter styling products like leave-in or mousse and gel.
      When I brush to detangle, I usually go straight. When I brush to distribute the products I tend to have a little twist, and I don't usually brush to style, I like clumping with my hands better, but if I do, I will try to trust and turn my brush to help with curl formation.
      Hope that answers your questions 🙂

    • @robynklatt9424
      @robynklatt9424 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@LuisaLouis yes it does. I just started trying with a brush. But I usually only use my hands and do praying hands then scrunch.
