Glad to see this review. A farmer I work for from time to time had me do some landscaping around his house. So I took his 2500 Laramie and got it loaded with river rock. When it was time to unload by hand, I learned that those tailgates are a major pain to get on and off. I'm glad your review (as with most things you do) involved facts and problems that you do not hear other reviews talk about.
Hey Brian. I have a 2015 2500 CTD and had the same issue with the tire pressure requirements by the TPMS. I had my TPMS reduced to 60psi instead of 80. I am smart enough to put 80psi in when towing, I don't need my truck to tell me to. Theoritically, you could adjust it down to 35 psi or lower. You will have to go to the dealership to have this done. It is not an easy thing to be done, and most dealerships don't know how to do it and are clueless that it can be done. However I found a set of instructions on how to do it. I brought these instructions to 3 different dealerships, 2 refused to do it, the third said they would. It took all of about 20 mins, and they charged me 1/2 hour of labor. $60 well spent! Message me if you would like these instructions.
Most manufacturers use a white paint that's a single stage white paint( clear coat is mixed in with the color),where as most other colors are a two stage paint( color then clear coat sprayed over the color)
Our TPMS tool at our shop can reprogram your threshold on your sensors. Technically, when we do, we are supposed to put an updated placard on the door that shows the new thresholds but most of our customers don't care, they just want to run a sensible amount of air without the stupid light coming on.
Hadn't watched the whole video before my last comment so questions answered. Also noticed the year now as well. Listening while traveling, ugh. Great video Brian!
Amazing review. I like the fact your broke it down to practical assessment, true value - not becoming baffled and lost in the gimicky crap they put out for people looking for a Mercedes in a truck. Excellent job! Make more... :)
We've got a 5500 with an 18' box on it here at work. We noticed a big drop in wind noise adding a bug deflector. Might want to give it a shot, bonus is you may save some paint chips too.
Wish I would have held on to the plates I used to have, born and raised in MI I had an almost unlimited supply of the MI 76 plates up until about 10 years ago. In the Small town or Iron River MI there is a shop there with box's of old plates from MI, WI, and a few from some other states.
Brian you didn't mention that sometimes you have to hit the lock button on the door twice for it to lock. Myself and everyone I know that has this truck has experienced the LAG!! Great video man.
Chevy's will do that too, but they'll acknowledge it with chimes between the first and second press. I think it's a key sensing thing to prevent you locking your keys in it. When I lock it from outside and press the remote button it's incredibly consistent to lock the first time even at a distance. If I do it while getting out of the car I have to do it twice.
I believe on the '13+ CTD, the EGR and EGR Cooler cleaning are no longer part of maintenance like the '07.5-'12 CTD. Less EGR use with SCR system, but it would not hurt to clean if desired at some point. The CCV filter is still the same as prior years at 67.500 miles, but I would change it in half those miles (30k).
I have a 2012 3500 Laramie and I would agree with the paint, probably the worst . Every time I drive my truck I get a paint chip. Good choice on the Tradesman package, if I were to buy another truck I would buy a Tradesman. The "leather" in the Laramie is garbage, its actually mostly very thin vinyl that cracks quickly. The LED lights in my mirrors fail all the time, they seem to get water in them and short out. All the complaints that you have, I have noticed the same things. Good review!!! Other than that I love my truck.
Great review! There is a Mopar part for a fuel cap that has a nice little retainer. You can also get cool little billet aluminum ones on the aftermarket.
That's correct, but resistance is futile..... HA! No, the resistance would completely defeat my objective to save power while flashing for hours engine off.
+briansmobile1 oooo right, that makes sense. I know that's what you have to do for bmws if you don't want the dash lights on for the rest of time. When to retrofit the old incandescent a led angle eye running light.
+briansmobile1 I just found accompany local to me called wicked warnings and they have great warning lights you might be interested in. All LED so no dash warnings and there really good.
Great vide Bryan. What do you think of the 2020 2500 gas 6.4 engine and the z transmission? I’m considering getting a crew cab version. I don’t need the diesel towing capabilities. I’ll only tow max 6500 an maybe a tad more if we upgrade our travel trailer. Thanks
My wipers are the same way I always have a spray bottle with windshield wiper fluid I will stop the truck and spray windshield wiper fluid on the windshield and then turn on the wipers
I really enjoy your videos, I drive a 1995 Dodge 12 valve 4x4 1 ton dually. They just don't make them like that anymore. She'll be around for years to come, with no electronics to go bad or deal with . Good luck with the new one, yikes....
I just came across your awesome video. As an emergency worker, you use your own truck, I use big red ones😛 You mentioned wind noise.. try folding your mirrors in and hear for a difference. Again thank you Stay safe
I love my 2016 too, I totally agree with the wiper before the fluid spray. I disagree with the hood louvers are silly. .. wish I could wipe them off! I think the front center fold down seat is great. I have the center console but I now think it is not as space efficient at the fold down. Also I dont know how you could get stuck anywhere with a 4x4 2500. Please explain
I had the same problem you did when purchasing my truck, except that in my area used trucks were only 3-4k cheaper than my 2014 CTD 2500. I thought they got rid of the 60 some odd thousand mile EGR service with the new DEF trucks? Regardless, at least you can service the EGR cooler/valve on this truck without first removing the top of the engine or cab. Did you do a video on installing the backup camera on your ram?
Good review on the truck. Plenty of pros and cons just like on my new '16 F150 XLT. Every manufacture has its ups and downs. WOuld be great if they could just get the few cons figured out. Great scenery footage from the parasail. Take it easy Brian
Brian, I have checked your channel and only question I have got is that how come your truck is not a stick shift? What made you pick automatic over manual?
Can I ask how much you gave for it? I'm looking at one now that's similar, one owner, 64k, 4x4 long bed. Also wondering about the fuel economy. Would greatly appreciate the insight friend. I'm finally ready to replace my 07, 5.9 @ 264k on her. Bought her new with same 10k off, only paid 41k to my door. She's still solid with near new injectors, transfer case and transmission.
Hi great show With the car windscreen washers and wipers could you just reverse the wires To fix the problem .keep up the great work regards from down under
Thanks for the honest review! I’ve had great luck with my RAM 1500’s but now I’m towing more and need the HD truck. I know you mentioned the towing going downhill with the level, was it good with the stock setup? I’m a little torn on the lack of leaf springs. Thanks again.
What a fantastic video. 👍 For all my life I have been a gasoline guy. Muscle cars. Gasoline trucks. I have two Dodge Hellcats. Well, I finally decided to become a man. Ha ha. I traded my 2005 Ford F150 for a 2018 Dodge Ram 3500 Tradesman quad cab 6 speed manual. LUV IT! 😃
hey Brian, do you collect canadian plates/tags as well?? got a set ive been collecting saskatchewan tags from each year and have lots of reoccurring plate from back when we still had to run front and rear, got some 1928, 1953 1966, 67, 69, and 72, that came to me as pairs
Check out the light load button on the dash for tire pressure. The dealer can reprogram the thresh hold as well. DELETE IT!!!! I was getting 24 MP0 in my 2012 cummins mega cab No more DEF for you. And not really any smoke if you have doubleRdiesel tune it for you.
Also, I got LED headlights and had no warnings at all. I installed hideaways in all the lights instead of 4 ways and whatnot. You meed to delete it. I could pull on a 2nd gen viper and never had concerns of damage in 90k miles of being deleted.
briansmobile1 So stop damaging your engine and get it deleted. Join www.igotacummins.com and hit up ray@doublerdiesel Besto forum for your truck by a LONG shot. Bunch of great guys that are all for the same thing you are, you'd be a welcome addition to the IGAC family.
I've got a 2014 that looks almost just like yours but mine is 2wd with a 6.4 hemi. The mileage about the same except for when I'm towing. But anyway just to let you know on the tire warning mine doesn't go off till around 69lbs. I'm not sure if that's adjustable but I thought I'd let you know. When I'm empty I keep 74 in the front and 70 in the back unless I'm dealing with some weight and then I run just under 80 all the way around
There was a lot I found interesting here, I am really surprised about the fuel economy as well as a lot of the pievs. I was really looking at abandoning the old F350 but based on this, I may hang on to it a bit longer. I have been getting about 15-20Mpg (closer to 15) and thought the dodge would do better. It sounds like the biggest upgrade from what I have to that would be the noise ( the ol’ 7.3 is a loud motor.
Thanks for the review and all the great info you share! You mentioned in the Video that you looked at several trucks that had a clean title but you still found out they were flood vehicles. Makes me wonder how many are vehicles that slipped through the cracks. Thanks
I asked the salesman if they had clean titles- he said yes. The computers indicated a failure all at the same time on the lower and front computers in the network. There was also silt halfway up the firewall of one of the trucks and mildew and moisture in the cab insulation in the other.
Hi,thanks for sharing, good insights. How much is that 60 000 miles service ? it scares me.Just bought Ram like yours, but 8 ft bed.Didn,t want diesel, but have to have it. thanks
Hey Brian. I have a 14 3500 and I run my rear tires at 35 psi when I'm not towing and I don't have a low tire psi light come on. Scott performance diesel in St George can help with your tunning. Been watching your videos since about the beginning. Just wanted to let you know that some of the little thing you don't like can be worked out.
Awesome truck! I wish our pickups in the UK were as big as the American ones. Maybe sometime Brian you could do a video going through all the kit you carry in the truck?
drive one of these for work and I take a lot of back roads. cliche and dirt which the suspension is really tough given for a 3/4 truck. it's only a comfy ride with a load on it about 5-7K pounds. over all this truck should be strictly use for work
That's a great video idea. I need to find another one. One lost all the computers from the bottom of the drivers doors forward all at the same time on the computer area network freeze frame data and had a line of silt halfway up the firewall.
I imagine that the point of view or perspective there in the ridges is somewhat different than your other powerparaglider videos over the wetland area by the airport.
Nice vid! I'm in love with my Cummins I bought a couple months ago and definitely appreciate your update at 15K. Is that the road up to Jacob City? The Oquirrhs are a gorgeous area. Been a while since I've been out that way, but I love it out there! Keep the vids coming! Liked and subscribed!

Holy cow Brian. until i watched this video I had no idea the side view mirrors went in that direction on my truck. only took me 3 years to learn.
YES! Knowledge is POWER!
Most manufacturers use a white paint that's a single stage white paint( clear coat is mixed in with the color),where as most other colors are a two stage paint( color then clear coat sprayed over the color)

I suggest taking all 4 TPMS and shoving them in a small air tank at 80psi hidden under the bed somewhere.
Damn good review I love my Ram overall too.
Thanks Bri!
@@briansmobile1 alfaobd can adjust tire pressures to whatever you desire
Hadn't watched the whole video before my last comment so questions answered. Also noticed the year now as well. Listening while traveling, ugh. Great video Brian!
Brian, came across your channel a few weeks ago and have enjoyed your wit, sarcasm, and how to videos. Carry on!
Thanks AJ!
what was your previous truck
2001 Dodge Ram 2500 Cummins 24 valve.
briansmobile1 saved yourself some money getting the last year model of that style?
Brian I don't think the removal of the egr at 67.5k miles is required. It was on the 2012 and earlier trucks with dpf only.
Amazing review. I like the fact your broke it down to practical assessment, true value - not becoming baffled and lost in the gimicky crap they put out for people looking for a Mercedes in a truck. Excellent job! Make more... :)
great review, i think the manufacturers would like to see videos like this to let them know what they're doing right and what they can improve on
We've got a 5500 with an 18' box on it here at work. We noticed a big drop in wind noise adding a bug deflector. Might want to give it a shot, bonus is you may save some paint chips too.

that slide bed is genius, never really seen or heard of then, now i know what to get on the next truck, great review

There's a fuse in the fuse box for the outlets. It's in a 3 hole plug. Just move it to the opposite and it will give u constant power.
I suggest taking extra keys off. The axtra weight doesn't seem like a lot but will wear on the connection for the key great review thanks
at 2:37 the cons you list seem to be ones that all trucks of this size would have, whereas your pros seem to be somewhat more vehicle specific
"Parking lots are level 16 difficulty" you got yourself a like for that.
Bought one of these a few months ago. Awesome truck, awesome review.
Best review I've watched so far
I never wanted a truck as much as I want yours. I wish I was handy at adding little things here and there like you do.
Thanks for the compliment!

Great truck review! Best vehicle review I've ever seen!
Wow! Thanks Al!
I know it’s an older video but truly enjoyed it. Looking to buy a newer 2500, thanks for the review
I didn't know you were so local. You've got more fans from Cache Valley! love the videos and the channel!
They make led turn signals with resistors to fool the computer but they do use more juice than the straight leds.
You can get an aluminum plug with a o-ring seal to replace that red plastic plug.

18-20MPG city and 24-29MPG freeway on my 2015 2500 4door 4x4 G56Trans...
will be deleting the DPF and all related Emissions systems.
you were right the end is awesome.. such a thrill
It's a lot more freaky than I thought it would be because you can't see the bumps coming like on a dirt road, but the gear handles it pretty good.
I love my 2016 too, I totally agree with the wiper before the fluid spray. I disagree with the hood louvers are silly. .. wish I could wipe them off!

I am. I've got Quebec and Ontario is all so far. Thanks!
cup holders on the door bottoms get in the way when exiting . not so good in tight parking lots when the door cant be opened fully.
You can charge while the trucks off use the front one on the right side

Good video man, straight to the point
I finally found a way to lower the tpms and not go to the dealer!!! I have the same truck just not a diesel.
Did you put CAN Bus LED's in the turn signals?
Nope, maybe that's my problem.
Thanks for the review and all the great info you share!
You mentioned in the Video that you looked at several trucks that had a clean title but you still found out they were flood vehicles. Just curious how you determined that if the title was not marked salvage. Carfax or other diagnostic\investigative powers? Hey Brian. I have a 14 3500 and I run my rear tires at 35 psi when I'm not towing and I don't have a low tire psi light come on. Scott performance diesel in St George can help with your tunning. Been watching your videos since about the beginning. Just wanted to let you know that some of the little thing you don't like can be worked out.
where did you get your mirror covers ?
For the tires get a pair of bfgoodrich tako2 i have them on a 1500 and 3500 cummins will never use any other tire
would the laramie package even fix some of these weird quirks?
What in the name of Sam Heavens! Fun review and comments. Thanks
can you tell me where you got that subaru timeing belt t shirt that is cool thanks
Awesome truck! I wish our pickups in the UK were as big as the American ones. Maybe sometime Brian you could do a video going through all the kit you carry in the truck?
I may touch on that Wednesday.
+briansmobile1 first class :D
This was awesome , thanks man.
Wife and I rented a Dodge Caravan recently, Had that same key for the exact things you said. Sucked.
Good review. Seems like all the factory issued tires on 3/4 and 1 tons wear out in no time. That key fob design does look terribly annoying.
It could be worse, but I'm saying it could be better too It's perfect if you keep it in a purse or something with no pressure.
some hd trucks have heavy psi and low load psi setting wonder y this one didnt have that option for the tires.
Ha! @ 19:28 Brian does not want us to see how fast he is going! LOL
I want you to see how fast, just don't want to distract from the passing concept. ; P
You can get aftermarket gas cap/plugs that are pretty cool at Ronin.
It bugged me 2.
Would adding resistors help prevent the dashboard warnings?
Yes, and suck more power.
I believe there are aftermarket relays that compensate for LED bulbs that would restore the default on/off interval.
What happened to the 2nd Gen Cummins you had?
You can get an aftermarket anodized aluminum fuel cap I believe
That's right. It's aluminum and has a magnetic means of attachment, but you can't lock it.
+briansmobile1 fair enough but at least it old be more durable and do a better job of keeping dust out than the shipping cap or nothing at all
drive one of these for work and I take a lot of back roads. cliche and dirt which the suspension is really tough given for a 3/4 truck. it's only a comfy ride with a load on it about 5-7K pounds. over all this truck should be strictly use for work
Since you had 2 flood trucks could you do a video on that? Any signs on how to find out?
That's a great video idea. I need to find another one. One lost all the computers from the bottom of the drivers doors forward all at the same time on the computer area network freeze frame data and had a line of silt halfway up the firewall.
Nice review Brian. I doubt there's a truck out there that doesn't have a long list of don't likes. Cheers buddy....
strange my 12 ram 1500 has a constant 12v socket and key switched one great truck
I only have one and it shuts off.
Mine is the same, one keyed and one constant
cool buy...i like the add ons
great review, thank you
great flight at the end!
Thanks Nick!
Why did you got rid of your Eco ?
Hey do a video about the lights!!
Which ones?
can you get this truck without that crazy key if you order a super basic 'Tadesman Quick Odrer Package'?
Didn't you do a video on valve adjustment of a crf450? I looked on your page, didn't see one. You guys look alike and sound the same
holy crap brian! BFATE! you don't realize how small you are until your above gods earth.
LOL! I know right?
I imagine that the point of view or perspective there in the ridges is somewhat different than your other powerparaglider videos over the wetland area by the airport.

Nice vid! I'm in love with my Cummins I bought a couple months ago and definitely appreciate your update at 15K. Is that the road up to Jacob City? The Oquirrhs are a gorgeous area. Been a while since I've been out that way, but I love it out there! Keep the vids coming! Liked and subscribed!
