Congratulations! I'd keep the carpet for upstairs, as the dollies will be hard to use on it. Then, if permitted, a battery charger or tender. I had to cut out a bit of an internal wall to be able to fit my then Cadillac Seville in the back of my garage, but once done that made a huge difference, made the place more usable.
Those stairs are a nightmare, would the land lord let you put the stairs on a pulley system similar to a loft ladder so you could raise them out of the way? Make moving cars around a bit more feasible?
@@mattw8332 That might be a pain in the arse getting heavier items up and down, if the plan is to use it as a photography studio/storage lugging heavy things up and down a ladder is a recipe for disaster.

Just on a practical note, if I were you I’d install the main workbench downstairs. When you’re actually doing something rather weighty you don’t want to be marching up and down those stairs with either the component or the various tools you need. Also have some basic “aids” like a decent vice, a bench grinder/polisher and maybe a bench drill, they make many jobs so much easier. As some icing on the cake, put a compressor in there, you can now indulge in having some pneumatic power tools and even do a bit of paint spraying in a good environment.

Congratulations on your car storage. A massive advancement from working on the drive. Upstairs I would carpet it as suggested. Some kitchen base units with microwave, kettle, TV. Fit smoke alarms/heat alarms if not already fitted. Decent locks on entry doors/fixing screws/bolts. That looks like it'll be a useful place to have. Yes, obviously you'll need a kettle. Also, a stereo of some sort would probably be nice. Doesn't have to be anything fancy, you could probably pick up something second hand for maybe £20 you know, just a piece of junk that'll make a noise. When you're in there for a few hours working on something, having the radio on is handy for time checks. Then you're not shocked when you walk outside and it's gone dark. Hey Matt. Great to see you are going to be able to continue your work even with the wonderful weather over there at this time of year. Absolutely stoked for you! On the name - with the name of your channel in mind, how about Furious Parking? Or maybe Furious Tinkering? I agree with other comments that you are going to need to leave a bit of space to be able to work on your projects, so unless the one being kept closest to the doors is one you can move outside out of the way each time you get there to work, I reckon four cars might be a more comfy fit. I also agree on having a chat with Mr and Mrs Landlord about rigging up a pulley system on the stairwell to swing them up out the way and make the unit more user-friendly. If the landlord often rents the space to car buffs, I am sure he'll see your line of thinking as adding value to his property.....but may still make you pay for the mods. It doesn't hurt to sound him out either way though. In any case, the unit has real possibilities and gives you so much more than you've had so far - and in so many different areas. All-weather working - check. Safer working with power tools when it starts raining - check. Storage for parts - check. Less chance of a visit by the Noise Nazis for upsetting people in the neighbourhood - check. Ability to organise spares, merch, your other business(es) - check. This unit is the coming-together of so many years of hard slog and effort......and I applaud your persistence and dedication. I enjoy your videos - driving, reviewing, tinkering or whatever - and love your dry wit. I am genuinely so pleased that you are now able to go to the next level (without climbing the stairs just now) and have an area devoted to your passion. The further upside is that it should make it MUCH easier to do the tinkering videos for you too! Definitely get yourself a little fridge and a kettle though - they are a mandatory requirement in ANY workshop! My own workshop is a 3-car garage plus room for one more car that I have put workbenches and shelves into. There is a dedicated area for a kettle and small fridge - and I even have a sink and a loo! My wife of many years has threatened to move the spare bed in there as well on nights when I spent too long down there, so try not to get yourself into that predicament though! All the best from NZ
Its the Furibarn. Or FDB ( furious Driving Barn.) You should get a couple sets of soft corner insulation just to shield the left hand hard post entrance as you drive in ( just to be sure). You do need some more shelves obviously. Get a quote to remove the stairs as they would also dismantle easily ( and store them flat upstairs ) and add a loft ladder you pull down. Not expensive and fully reversible when you leave it. Best wishes in your new home. Have you got wifi there? A ring type camera would be cool outside. Lee
Glad for you, dry and warm are the key elements. I would love to add a bathroom (our states terminology ). I was thinking a kind of train turntable device at the entrance there. Just drive on and rotate the car 90 degrees.
That's a great space. That stairs needs some thought. Maybe some heavy duty hinges that allow it to rise majestically out of the way? Or reverse it again!
Once the boot has dried out and the source of the ingress sorted I would suggest keeping the Volvo at home. 1) It's the biggest car so takes up the most space in the Furibarn leaving more space to walk around the others, and 2) as it's so dependable it's useful thing to keep handy should the Daily Driver ever let you down.
Hi Matt. Many Congratulations. It's been a long time coming. There are quite a few good suggestions below. I know you like a bit of Retro. Remember the old "Thunderbird's" (international rescue). They use to say FAB. In reality it meant nothing. But it will if you name it "Furious Auto Barn". 😉😉 👍👍
Fabulous development. Good to see you nesting already, although that won't be real until you have a fridge and kettle, and maybe a toaster and some cupboards and some comfy chairs and......
I have an offsite garage, pretty similar. I keep ALL my tools there now, except for really basic stuff like a few screwdrivers. It made little sense duplicating and I found that the remote space allowed me to leave jobs half finished (so long as the car was positioned in the back so it wasn't blocking something else) until I was complete, a luxury I don't have at home. The storage space above will be good - I have an office above but I rented that out to help pay for the garage! If it were me I would see what I could do about those stairs, maybe a trapdoor with folding stairs?
Well done, good to see someone get on in life. Don't know where you get the energy from but keep up the good work. As for name's whit about Shangri-La. Good luck. BTW that wiz some speech. Did you write it yerself? LOL.
Congrats on the barn! There will be room for more at home now ;) I think putting the W123 into the garage would be a good idea if you could make it work. May I ask how you found this place? I've been looking online for a small workshop/lockup (ideally storage for 2 cars with room to store a little stuff) electricity would be a benefit and they're £600+ a month. I'm happy for you, I really hope it all works out well. Excited to see the new content too!
Definitely behind the idea of calling it the 'Matt Cave' 😂 Number one item to bring to the barn - fire extinguisher! Big wooden barn full of 20+ year old cars, it's just good sense, especially if you're going to be working on them.
Can you change the stairs? If so maybe make them so they can be lifted out of the way. Just like a loft access ladder, but bigger. To reduce the echo put some polystyrene panels on the walls. These can be used a "pin" boards too. Name- Happy Valley: Matt's Ranch: Rusty Bucket Acres, ok maybe not the last one.
Very pleased for you indeed - I can see how enthused you are over this next step in the FD voyage. However, a note of warning; stuff expands to fill the space available. My hobby interest grew beyond the spare bedroom/loft/two sheds/garage when I discovered storage units - now I have six of them and as a result, I now cannot afford to retire because half my pension would go on storage rental. I am not sure how easy it will be to sell the stuff I've collected over the last forty years either, as tastes have changed. You're probably on safer ground with cars though.
Matt...I am beyond happy for you! You work hard and deserve the best! Thanks for all the honest "REAL" videos in 2021! Tremendous respect from North Carolina USA!
Excellent news, Matt! Made up for you. Got to be “MattCave” surely..? Carpet the upstairs area, but cut a car sized length to lie on when you are working underneath the various members of the fleet. You definitely need a fridge, a microwave and a kettle. But also need running water, too? Is that plumbed in already in the outer barn? Numerous wall surfaces now available for the number plate collection to be displayed. Agree with other comments re the stairs. Need to do something creative with them to allow yourself better swinging room - the Volly only just squeaked through. No chance of the Crown Vic going in there though!! Good storage shelving, cupboards with shelves, etc. I’m sure you will soon make it your own. 👍🏻
It’s about bloody time! Seriously you are in my top 5 automotive TH-camrs in the world.. Your enthusiasm for cars is so transparently genuine. I expect to see more great content in the future.
Well done Matt, this is awesome news, a well earned happy moment. Furious Farm... Furious Farm Barn... Whatever you call it, it's awesome, congratulations and I look forward to the transformation of the space and the channel. Onwards and Upwards Peace Charlie 🇬🇧
Is there any way you could replace the fixed stairs with that sort that hinges away into the roof? You'd obviously need to still make sure you don't park a car in the spot where the stair comes down, but it would make manoeuvring the cars around the space a lot simpler.
Thank you Matt, it's a pleasure to watch your videos and I look forward to them, much deserved as you've really earned it. What a fantastic space it gives you so much flexibility and potential for new projects and channel expansion. Good idea to move the P6 V8 over there.
Terrific! I filled it in my head within 30 seconds - beginning with two P6s. We keep spotting interesting pieces of automobiles around your lockup’s too, so it’s going to be a fun winter video series watching you play house! If it was me, we would be doing family Xmas in the barn, as the only way they would be able to see me! Well done Matt!
Congrats on the new lock up. You may have to have a redesign moment with regard to the stairs as it looks like it could get a bit awkward in there. The dollies will be a big help.
Nice shed, congrats! The trolleys are a smart move, do not forget a 740 has an excellent turning circle. But the shed looks great and dry. Very valuable,
What about naming your new place, wait for it..... The Furious DRIVE - IN Just a thought, as big spaces are echoey, get some carpet underlay cut offs, paste pieces of equivalent size to car related posters & mount on the walls, it will help with sound absorbsion plus make posters resistant to damage. Have a great festive period.
Absolutely delighted you got hold of a proper lock-up so the channel can move on like you wanted it to! You will need two of everything almost... the lock-up to house my P6 was 45 minutes away from my house it is the most frustrating thing when you think "nah wont need that tool" - to be driving back home to fetch it because of this. I learned quickly to have doubles of all the essential stuff, easy to do, what's the tools you always turn to in times of need? What I decided to do intially was have all of my tools placed in 3 metal 5-drawer us-pro tool boxes and lugging them around in and out my car wasnt fun but effective as i rarely made return journeys again but later on I started replicating tools which made it easier in the long run! I'd personally organise a power tool box for putting in your car to and from the lock-up, the expensive stuff like the induction heater. I was cautious about leaving any tools in my lock-up at first with it not being local but I started leaving more and more as I became confident in the security of the lock-up. You might feel the same in time! I do think that staircase is an issue and you will get annoyed by it! Great you've got sockets as well, no power inverters needed :) As somebody else suggested - "the furious drive-in"!!!
deffo a nice big purpose built work bench, wooden makes less noise. big old vice (ebay) polishing wheel. bench drill, parts washer, grinding wheel, all along that back wall be good spec, tool chest too. great size barn cave/ well done and good luck for the future.vinny.
Get those steps changed back to the way they were, out of the turn in area. Buy a Dehumidifier Box from B&Q. The non powered type, for drying out that 740 boot. I use them on my boat & soft top cars. They're cheap & work well. Save the carpet for up stairs.
Great news for you, can’t wait to see how the unit changes your channel. It will make a massive difference to your tinkering videos having somewhere indoors. Happy Christmas to you and your family. 👍
Congratulations Matt, A massive step forward. I agree with your idea of getting the Rover V8 moved into the new place, then using your old garage for welding. May take a while to get all the cars in the right place, but hey, it will certainly give you incentive to get some of the others moveable! Well done again, great news indeed.
I think Furious Parking is the perfect name for it, especially with the location of those stairs, lol! 😉 The fact that your banner has an Alfa Romeo badge on it is surely proof that you want to keep the 145... 😉 I hope that the Furious Parking shed gives you many years of work space, and long live Furious Driving! :)
Looks like the kind of space we all dream about, we'll done! I'd put the carpet upstairs... You risk tearing it up from having to 'dry steer' the cars around the corner.
This is absolutely great news Matt, genuinely happy for you! Found the channel looking for W123 content a couple of years ago, subscribed and have loved watching it grow ever since!
Congrats ❤️ Love the barn! Maybe you should make more space and convert it into something cool. Or, maybe you should make more space and get ramps for the cars (like you said). Or, you can make a ramp for upstairs so you could park Cars upstairs. Or, you could make upstairs a Car Garage where you could work on Cars. Or you could covert the place to have Car Toys, Cinema, Racing Simulator and more as well as a Car Barn. Either way, I hope you enjoy it. Also, a cool name for the Barn could be Furious Parking 😂
It will be great to be warm and dry to work on the cars. Might be an idea to get a car trailer to move cars about. It would pay for itself and you can move cars about to work on them. Great channel BTW.
Well done, Matt. Great to see you moving ahead in a direction you obviously want. Looks a superb storage/minor works shop. Once you get all the cars in there won't be masses of space, but looks promising. All the very best. Also, HAPPY CHRISTMAS to you, Matt, as well as Mrs. Furious and Furious Junior.
The Furious Driving Car Barn is the best name you already have Sir, my 2cents here. Congratulations on the move, progress made and fun prelude to more furiously wrenching and driving in season 2022! Next to go up the wall is your channel logo, I hope. Perhaps you can vlog the further setting up of shop, that could be rather nice. Thank you kindly FDCB :-) Which come to think of it, that logo would suit a new Spring t-shirt range perfectly! And the new FDCB podcast from the upstairs Office. Long comment for seriously good move👍
I used to work in Goteborg for Volvo Personvagnar, these old Volvos are called Gubbebilar (pl) or Gubbebil (sing). Pron Gub-bil which sort of translates to Old Geezer's Car(s). So I dub the 740 Gubbebil. Handily placed stairs btw. Don't get into hoarding !!
This is great Matt! Absolutely thrilled for you to have a warm dry place to work on your cars. Love the upstairs element too... what a bonus! Can't wait to see you pumping content out from in there... get the kettle sorted ASAP!! 🍵 ☕ 🫖
I'm envious, even though I've only got one tiny car (for now) and don't need a lock up! Maybe the landlord will allow you to change the staircase for a pulldown version?
Awesome! I am very envious! It will be so lovely once you have it all decked out and make it a propper home from home. Shame about the awkward enterance, don't think the crown vic would make it through that! But you never know haha. Congradulations!
I'm really looking forward to seeing you develope this unit as much as I am car videos. Access may be an issue and it's a bit of a blow that you can't use it for welding. Still it's dry and warm and had potential for working, storing and if there aren't many cars in there you could use it as a space to present cars on camera. I know exactly what you mean about having tools to hand. The first year on my allotment I had no shed and often would forget tools or other items. I'll be interested to see how the wheel dollies work out for you as I considered something like that myself. The issue I have though is the block paving on my slightly sloped driveway. I expect they work much better on a smooth and level concrete floor. Good luck with the new unit Matt. You turned Quentin around so I have faith that you will make good on this.
Congratulations! If you could relocate the stairs and perhaps widen the door, it allow you to maneuver the cars with less effort. Just bear in mind not to keep an engine running for too long in there
Great to see you got a dry barn for your cars and a good place to work on them. At least it will be dry when fixing the cars. I really enjoyed your videos and In the weeks ahead I hope to go to your early videos I have watched some but I would like to see them all . Have a good Christmas.

What a great place Matt! Garage, storage and studio!
How about The Furious Driving Den ?
I have an offsite garage, pretty similar. I keep ALL my tools there now, except for really basic stuff like a few screwdrivers. It made little sense duplicating and I found that the remote space allowed me to leave jobs half finished (so long as the car was positioned in the back so it wasn't blocking something else) until I was complete, a luxury I don't have at home. The storage space above will be good - I have an office above but I rented that out to help pay for the garage! If it were me I would see what I could do about those stairs, maybe a trapdoor with folding stairs?
Really, really pleased for you. Only risk I can see is fleet expansion; because you can!
Well done, good to see someone get on in life. Don't know where you get the energy from but keep up the good work. As for name's whit about Shangri-La. Good luck. BTW that wiz some speech. Did you write it yerself? LOL.
Well done, sure you’ll be happy and able to tinker in the warm and dry. All the best for 2022 with your new ventures.
Welcome to the FDU…… Furious Driving Unit !!!! Many congratulations & wishing you the very best with your new storage area good times ahead now 👍👍👍
Congrats on the barn!
Definitely behind the idea of calling it the 'Matt Cave' 😂
Number one item to bring to the barn - fire extinguisher!
👍🏻
Nice! Good thing storing the cars in a dry environment. Your channel is evolving in the right direction!
Onwards and Upwards
Peace
Charlie 🇬🇧
Is there any way you could replace the fixed stairs with that sort that hinges away into the roof? You'd obviously need to still make sure you don't park a car in the spot where the stair comes down, but it would make manoeuvring the cars around the space a lot simpler.
That was my first thought as well. It would certainly make life easier
Good for you, Matt. Should make life easier. I like the 'scrappage scheme survivor' sticker on the back of your Volvo. Best wishes.
Hinge the first few treads of the staircase & hoist it out of the way on steel cable to allow a car to pass for parking. Fairly easy job
Brilliant!!! Really looking forward to you fixing stuff without being rained on. I think you should call it Furious Parking.
Nice shed, congrats! The trolleys are a smart move, do not forget a 740 has an excellent turning circle. But the shed looks great and dry. Very valuable,
What about naming your new place, wait for it.....
The Furious DRIVE - IN
Just a thought, as big spaces are echoey, get some carpet underlay cut offs, paste pieces of equivalent size to car related posters & mount on the walls, it will help with sound absorbsion plus make posters resistant to damage.
Have a great festive period.
Amazing work! It has been so exciting to see this channel grow and produce great content. Keep it up!
Good luck getting the crown vic in there
Congratulations Very excited to see what you do with the place as well as the channel.
Great you've got sockets as well, no power inverters needed :)
As somebody else suggested - "the furious drive-in"!!!
deffo a nice big purpose built work bench, wooden makes less noise. big old vice (ebay) polishing wheel. bench drill, parts washer, grinding wheel, all along that back wall be good spec, tool chest too. great size barn cave/ well done and good luck for the future.vinny.
Congratulations! Another step forward! Best of luck in the new place! That staircase looks like it’s going to get frustrating pretty quickly though!
Get those steps changed back to the way they were, out of the turn in area.
Buy a Dehumidifier Box from B&Q. The non powered type, for drying out that 740 boot. I use them on my boat & soft top cars. They're cheap & work well.
Save the carpet for up stairs.
Love watching your videos. You and Hubnut have inspired me to start my own currently tiny ‘fleet’ of 2...so far. Thanks.
Awesome. 💚
Fan, Sydney Australia for about 18 months.
Keep going mate!
The dollies will be indispensable! Even if you make other arrangements those will be very handy!
Great news Matt! Really glad this channel is getting bigger and bigger.
Well done Matt. It's great to see your channel taking the next step in growing your furious empire!
Good luck with it...! Looking forward to seeing more of your work in there
Great news for you, can’t wait to see how the unit changes your channel. It will make a massive difference to your tinkering videos having somewhere indoors.
Happy Christmas to you and your family. 👍
Well done finding the new barn.
Reminds me of Jay Leno’s Garage. Well, a budget conscious suburban Brit version, without all those millions of dollars. Good stuff.
Great man cave Matt👍🏻
Looks like an ideal space for keeping part of your collection out of the weather and makes fixing them a lot more comfortable.
I think Furious Parking is the perfect name for it, especially with the location of those stairs, lol! 😉 The fact that your banner has an Alfa Romeo badge on it is surely proof that you want to keep the 145... 😉
I hope that the Furious Parking shed gives you many years of work space, and long live Furious Driving! :)
This is brilliant news Matt! Well done and well deserved for all the hard work on the channel. Winter working will be so much more comfortable.
Looks like the kind of space we all dream about, we'll done! I'd put the carpet upstairs... You risk tearing it up from having to 'dry steer' the cars around the corner.
could you put in folding stairs? they could flip up when your moving cars or filming
This is absolutely great news Matt, genuinely happy for you! Found the channel looking for W123 content a couple of years ago, subscribed and have loved watching it grow ever since!
Very awesome Matt! I would get that stairwell flipped back around just to make it easier to get cars in....
Thank you kindly FDCB :-)
Which come to think of it, that logo would suit a new Spring t-shirt range perfectly!
Can always count on the turning circle of a rwd Volvo!
Fantastic news Matt! Warm dry storage, brilliant!
Excellent Matt, Glad you have finally got some storage. Looking forward to 'junk in the barn' not trunk lol :)
Nice space. You'll really enjoy working in it instead of outside.
So happy for you Matt. Living the dream. Don't neglect the family too much...! Merry Xmas bud x
Just bear in mind not to keep an engine running for too long in there
Nice furious lad pad, some of those led lights have a switch inside to change from white to yellow and also the brightness, might be worth a look.
It has to be the Furious Drive-In. Especially if you put a TV in there too :)
Great news though. It'll make tinkering and logistics so much easier
Great to see you got a dry barn for your cars and a good place to work on them. At least it will be dry when fixing the cars. I really enjoyed your videos and In the weeks ahead I hope to go to your early videos I have watched some but I would like to see them all . Have a good Christmas.
