Apocalyptica started by releasing two instrumental albums of Metallica and other covers with a couple of their of own songs. This song is from the third album Cult which was mostly all of their own songs. At first it was instrumental but they later released vocal versions of some songs with different singers. After that they used much more guest singers like Corey Taylor, Gavin Rossdale, Adam Gontier, Till Lindeman, Max Cavalera etc. They even had one album with a permanent singer (Franky Perez). Their latest album released in 2020 is back to the roots and full instrumental.
They just announced a 16 gig church tour in Finland November 15th to December 2nd. Surprised they let them in, lol. I'm quite sure not all churches in Finland would. Since they have no singer they have done collads with many great vocalist. Apocalyptica ft. Corey Taylor "I'm not Jesus". Apocalyptica ft. Lzzy Hale "Talk to Me" is quite new, from last year. To mention but a few. They performed on the opening celebrations of The Track and Field World Champs in Helsinki 2005, in the Helsinki Olympic Stadium. But because ot timetable problems their performance as the last performers was only aired on Finnish TV! They were pissed to say the least. They had cancelled other gigs for that. They have sold 4,5 million albums. Covid break has been tough for them, financially, mentally too for sure. I guess that is no news.
One of these guys (Eicca) lives in my hometown and he used to visit the store I worked at years ago. Once I had the opportunity to tell him how awesome Apocalyptica is, and he was super humble and great about it. 😊
I really dig Apocalyptica, I was lucky enough to see them in Buffalo at an old church "Babeville" that was renovated into a concert hall and event center by Ani DiFranco. Mike was cracking me up, he was smiling through that entire video 🤘!
Cello !!! There was an all-string quartet from Germany that did a song (and video) with Kamelot, in 2012. Then toured with Kamelot & Delain in 2013. I apologize that I can't think of their name right now. My old age showing 😛
I bought Beethoven's nine symphonies box album set when I was 19. And don't forget about Emerson,Lake,.and Palmer. They incorporated classical influences into their music.

But I did also like their own stuff too in Inquisition Symphony (I actually own that album, I think). This one is from their "newer stuff" which I'm not so familiar with. But it was cool, especially the video.
I didn't like this at first, but it sort of grew on me. And, imo, I don't think classical music is making a comeback as such, but the instruments and some styles certainly are! Talking of the heavy metal of its time, I loved Stravinsky, Mussorgsky, Greig etc. Hmm, while I was googling for Hall of the Mountain King I found a metal band called Savatage. Might be worth looking into them for a reaction vid! Gutter Ballet (Official Music Video) is .. different.
