    I'm three months in...re-braided my whole head on the 3rd month mark...will be leaving them in another 3 months and just refresh the front and nape area.I wash my hair once a month and moisturize often..

      Wow Glenda that's really great you will get lots of growth. Its important to redo those areas so as not to experience breakage 👍

      Iv never had it happen, im in mini braids again and ill be leaving them in for 6 months. I redo my front and back often and my middle every other month. It will mat a little but if you rebraid them they wont.

      @@SimplyShev_hair thanks dear. I really needed that! For me I have always had volume but struggled with length my whole life. I'm hoping this works for me as I am currently using Ayurveda to grow back my hair. I think I have also self sabotaged by not leaving in a protective style long enough. What's the secret to leaving it longer in a protective style? Please let me know...lol

      @SimplyShev_hair  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Caroline-he4jw hey Caroline I really appreciate your comment. You will definitely get there. It's very hard at the start to keep longer term styles in. Try focusing on something else like a course or try bit by bit maybe 6 weeks. one time then 8 weeks the next etc💕

      @SimplyShev_hair tnx so much. I will. I shaved all my hair last year in March when I was living in New York, and now I am in Nigeria 🇳🇬 and the weather has helped with my growth, and I have a twa with lots of volume. The ayurvedic treatments help too. I braided each strand for this challenge and applied my ayurvedic infused oil at the roots and tips before braiding. I'm hoping to see good length in at least 8 weeks. I'm really going to try to stick it in longer for better results. Thanks again! 😊

    I'm in my 4th month. I leave my mini braids in for 5 weeks. However I wash and deep condition every single week. I am looking forward to seeing how healthy my hair will be after my 18 months mini braid challenge.

    Wow!! I love this video. I installed mini braids over the weekend. I have short hair after growing it back after I lost it all during chemotherapy. Unfortunately the front is very thin and there are small bald patches. I added about seven extension braids to the front and the rest of my hair is my own. It’s growing really well and I hope to be shoulder length this time next year. I want to keep them in for three months but I’m not sure what to do about cleaning the front part with the extensions. Please advise.

      Hi Sophia thank you, I'm glad you have started on your mini braids journey. They have really helped my hair. You will still need to clean all your scalp regularly. So wash as normal and reinstall the braids at the front to keep up appearances and to avoid breakage. I'm praying that you are recovering well afer recovery and I will remember you in my prayers.

      @@SimplyShev_hair thanks so much for your response. I’ll do that. I’m loving how my hair looks in these mini braids. I used to have locs but I’m enjoying my own natural Afro hair and the way it’s growing. I’m extremely self conscious about the front though. I think this method will work and I’ll take on your advice. Thank you! Are you based in London? I am.

      If you've recently been ill and recovering it might be that your body is allocating a lot of resources to repair for now, so might need to replenish, especially zinc and biotin if it's hair related. (biotin is actually very important not just a hair vitamin) and zinc is used up be processed that use rapid cell division like skin and hair.

      Hey sis Ive never coloured or darkened my hair, I tried indigo once many many years ago. Jet black is my natural hair colour 😊. If it looks lighter it could be the lighting or damage. It also lightens a little in the summer like many in my family.

      @@SimplyShev_hair oh ok. So there is still hope for me.
      I usually wear cornrows and find that cornrows grow my hair more than when I use to get box braids with extensions.
      But now I'm hopping on the mini braid band wagon with my own hair just to change things up a bit.
      Didn't know there was a hair growth challenge. When did it start?
