An amazing channel, a great super entertaining protagonist and a legend of an editor.
My issue with this is that if it was any other regular Joe they would've not let them have the deal. But he starts with the his whole I'm a TH-camr speech and gets the deal shoves a camera in their face and expects to not put them in an awkward situation.
@@TheRealFutureMillionaire it’s called the gambit cus after he has all these games he’s betting on the prices to double and then sell them and say all these great games “we” got under market rates have now doubled and we’re gonna see what we can get for them. Dude seem super nice too and just chill. And if anyone sales “well it’s called the gambit for a reason” that’s irrelevant to this deal. I felt like the ending was powerful too. The whole time he’s looking for this high dollar game, but the game that meant most to him was the one he was given by his friend. Awesome moment, it really shows the bond caleb and riff have made with one another.
I actually got this game for free when I worked at GameStop. Somebody came to trade it in and we were no longer accepting GameCube games so he just told me to keep it. Didn’t know it was so valuable until recently lol
Honestly that's my goal with my game collection. Not even just trying to get those expensive stuff for free, but finding underappreciated gems in people's old collections and taking it off their hands in order to give them a better home where they will be properly respected. Like all of my games/consoles are properly cleaned and backed up and made digital on said console to preserve the original hardware. I've come across so many unique things this way and it feels amazing.

The guy should have been straight up that he wasn't going to take less than 1600 cash for the pokemon box, but that being said, as rare as the item appears to be it doesn't make any sense to sell it at a discount just for his buyers benefit.
I agree. I often deal with people like that and almost always it's just because, like he mentions in the video, they don\t really want to sell the item. Also exactly because it's so rare it's probably not even easy to find for that price in general.
I love retro Rick he negotiates well with sellers with reasonable prices. Phoenix resale lowballs to the point where the item is basically free. If he doesn’t get his way he cries about it and says “I’ll think about that”

Dude, I literally watched the last part 3 times. It just goes to show how friendship and gifts received are way more valued than a glorified local storage pokemon bank game. Especially having to spend an arm and a leg to buy the game locally at full ebay value.
The main point, aside from prices being higher in the US for reasons, is that here in Europe you could get Pokemon Box in a console bundle or on Club Nintendo online. In the US you could only get it if you went physically at the Pokemon Center shop in New York, and nowhere else. So that’s why it’s much easier, and cheaper, to buy it here compared to the US
@@NasTheGod215 Any gamecube game from Europe and Japan are PAL region locked and will not run on the NTSC region consoles that we have here in US. They are essentially different versions with different rarities.
the PAL (UK version) and Japanese were mass produced. US version was only available at the NY Poke center for a couple of months before it closed and became Nintendo World. Thats the price difference.
I had the biggest grin on my face watching the end of this episode, gonna be upset when the coveted GameCube Gambit ends, but excited to see what you have in store for the channel and will always look forward to seeing more videos
Love your and Riff’s friendship, you both are awesome dudes who really do care about each other and always are having a blast while hunting for games. Hits the feels ❤️
I watch a lot of your videos but this one was just a touch above the rest. Great video! The storytelling and pacing was great. I breathed the same sigh of relief with you after you closed the sale. Congrats on Pokemon Box Phoenix Resale :)
Everybody is mad at the vendor but it's obvious that the vendor was very attached to that game and was having a hard time letting it go. Like he said, "it was like losing a child."

US game market is so different and you will find that a lot with other games as well. However, as well as bing a lot expensive, you see more retro games around in US then UK. This is what I am seeing those. Retro game collecting is stronger in the US market.
wow dude I am really proud of you for completing this epic journey of rare and expensive gamecube games you were so passionate for your collection that you ended up finding 2 of the holy gems of the gamecube!
can you imagine going up to someone and telling them you need to buy an expensive ass game but you need to buy their quality products at a cheap price and then flip those quality items and use that money to buy the expensive game you want...😂😂😂 Jesus, You balls you have. holy shit.
I have a picture from 2019 at CM Games (game store in Lexington that you got Gotcha Force at) with Pokemon Box for $375, Cubivore for $350, and Gotcha Force for $325. At the time, those prices were above retail but now I wish I got them and held them for a couple years! :(
GameCube Gambit has been one of my favorite things to watch on this platform. Such a notalgia trip for me. I still have my collection from my childhood, and I have added to it since!
I love the community feel the fact that you had a vendor that helped you out big time and a mate (Riff) who just gifted you a rare game... something you'll never forget 👍😊
I’ve been waiting a couple weeks for you to find Ribbit King because I recently found it with no manual for $120 at my local pawn shop. It’s so cool that you got yours from Editor Riff though, amazing moment!
DAMNNNN life is full circle. Been watching your channel since you were prolly at 30k subs, and it's surreal to see you travel to LA and deal with Tony Torres, who I used to buy from at so many game swaps pre pandemic, and yeah hahaha I knew from jump that he wasnt gonna discount it if he knew who you were! Great video Caleb, your channel is growing like crazy, also Editor Riff, can you put the insta handle with an @ next time and maybe a link in the description if you really want to shout someone out next time?
The GameCube was the first system I bought new! I ended up selling the system after I got a Wii because I didn’t think I needed it but the box has been stored all this time so at some point I’ll get another one and make it complete again, it was the Mario party 7 edition with 2 controllers, the box is worth over $100 😂
Glad he insisted on full price. Imagine someone saying "yeah so I could pay with all the money in my right pocket but I only want to pay with this arbitrary amount of money in my left pocket", like no, that's your own weird thing, gtfo.
I agree. He could have paid for the full price in the beginning but had to do some crazy money game. He probably had 5 grand or more to play with just walking into the show.
I have been watching your videos and shorts for about a week now I watched this one video and you have a viewer for life man hope your journey is just beginning
Ohhh no you had to pay retail on a game in almost perfect condition that’s next to impossible to get. I think you forget that other people flip as well and you always preach that you never wanna feel like the seller did you a favor and feels bad. It’s one game that really isn’t a game. I think you’ll live with this. And awesome on riff for getting you the other game!
I started collected games GameCube game right before you started the GameCube gambit and I have gotten just about every rare gem before you and had fun watching you do it. You have now passed me up with the rarest Mac daddy of games and all I can say if GG Caleb. Ps editor homie a real one for giving you ribbit king
This is the first video I've seen from this channel and while I enjoyed it, I have a major criticism. You didn't want to use your own money because that would be against the rules or whatever of your "challenge" so instead you used your YT name to get some guy into giving you a deal you wouldn't otherwise get. I know the guy said he was cool with it but at the end of the day he got ripped off $100. An average person wouldn't be able to get this deal. In my opinion you ruined your "challege", you should of just paid it out of pocket instead of ripping people off.
Nah. As a vendor you never bring inventory unless you’re ready to move it. It’s a waste of space and time otherwise. Plus he’s obviously a collector too. Now he gets the fun of searching for the another copy. It’s an endless cycle!
@@maartenn2217 some items are harder to part with than others. Definitely agree with his reaction. The reality is he brought that there with the intention of selling. He priced it at FMV with the intention of selling. He has his reasons but you don't bring an item into your booth unless you're willing to part with it for the right price. And good for him for standing his ground. I'm sure he'll find it in the wild again some day.
The craziest part is I haven’t finished this video yet but I’m 90% sure he buys that Pokémon box cause they had it at their booth at frank n sons for awhile and now it’s gone 😱

And I also hate you both because yall put a knot in my throat over that wholesome friendship. In all seriousness, I deeply hope once GCG is over that you dive into another video game collection.
Weird that this was recommended to me. I remember that riff guy from back in the day. He had a channel with some dude named Ricky where they did videos like the gamechasers which i think was called RetroLiberty. I remember thinking it sucked that he went full tilt, deleted the channel and went MIA, but it is good to see he's still trucking on as an editor here.
I don't understand it, Pokemon BOX is in the USA 1400 dollars, here in The Netherlands it's like 50 euro's? What's the difference? Just NTSC / PAL difference?
Wow that ending. I never realized even Rabbit King was that rare?! I loved that game as a kid and I still own it. I have so many GameCube games just waiting around.
I remember when Pokemon Box was in droves at every Gamestop you could think of back in the day. They couldn’t get these off of their shelves fast enough. I know they have a habit of throwing their games in the dumpster that don’t sell. Makes me wonder how many of these we lost to time… Now this game has become the most expensive GC game ever… This is why the retro game market continues to surprise me lol!
Refreshing to hear a 1600 game tossed in place of a gifted treasure. Too many people getting into video games for the money rather than why we started playing them in the first place, to have some good memories with friends!

It's crazy how different prices are in the US, over here in the UK you can buy Pokemon Box for like £100 ($130)
Ikr. It’s literally £105 at CeX and it’s in stock.
The main point, aside from prices being higher in the US for reasons, is that here in Europe you could get Pokemon Box in a console bundle or on Club Nintendo online. In the US you could only get it if you went physically at the Pokemon Center shop in New York, and nowhere else. So that’s why it’s much easier, and cheaper, to buy it here compared to the US
@@emyquaranta makes 0 sense You can Just buy it online from a uk Website lol
@@NasTheGod215 Any gamecube game from Europe and Japan are PAL region locked and will not run on the NTSC region consoles that we have here in US. They are essentially different versions with different rarities.
the PAL (UK version) and Japanese were mass produced. US version was only available at the NY Poke center for a couple of months before it closed and became Nintendo World. Thats the price difference.
It's videos like this that restore my faith in the collecting community. Excellent video!
Tony's DK shirt is a nice vintage piece too. Worth at least $300 minimum.
Yea thanks piggy I paid $300 for it 🤙
I’m not crying, 277 other people are crying😭 Such a heartfelt video, y’all! Quite possibly one of my favorites, hands down!
I had the biggest grin on my face watching the end of this episode, gonna be upset when the coveted GameCube Gambit ends, but excited to see what you have in store for the channel and will always look forward to seeing more videos
Damn we are getting close! Ima be sad when the gambit is finished. I hope you can find another collection to start after!
Phi is the best !! So dope to see him on your channel
Thank you fam
That’s so wholesome you picked the game ur friend bought and not Pokemon box, true friend right here :)
Love your and Riff’s friendship, you both are awesome dudes who really do care about each other and always are having a blast while hunting for games. Hits the feels ❤️
Hands down, best episode of the series.
That Kingdom Hearts music towards the end was perfect congrats man this was deffinitly a win for you for sure.
His never ending quest…to screw people over, the Phoenix Resale way.
@Josiah Ali dammm you know you can go to jail for that right?
He’s good people trust i met him personally
@@things4yougaming723 good people don’t look to screw people over for personal gains. Good people don’t destroy communities with their greed. Just because you say “thank you” as you’re legally robbing people, doesn’t make you good people. This dude gets games for cheap, posts it on TH-cam and gets that revenue, then turns around and sells them for over retail on Whatnot. Quite possibly the opposite of good people.
Cry some more.
That Goof Troop shirt!!! As soon as you appeared on camera I audibly said “wow”!!! Love it 😍
Goes hunting for gamecube grails. Ends up finding friendship
Lol I see Jay from the Game Chasers at 14:20 looking shady as ever, wish I could come to a gaming expo but I am a broke college student right now haha. I just found your channel about 3 weeks ago and have LOVED the content! Keep up the great work and ill catch you on the flip!
Why is it so expensive in America I just took a quick look and it seems to go for £90-£105 in the uk quite alot
US game market is so different and you will find that a lot with other games as well. However, as well as bing a lot expensive, you see more retro games around in US then UK. This is what I am seeing those. Retro game collecting is stronger in the US market.
@@AshTek_Biker fair enough but does it really make a game £1000+ more
@@va8013 That is true. Extremely expensive. Think it’s all down to Supply and demand. Demand is their, but the supply is not.
I love this community is the truest thing you’ve said…. THE JOURNEY
A local store here in my area has the big box version sealed. Absolutely insane. $4k+ price on it..
$4k????!!!!
I have the box version but it got damaged I'm sure it wouldve been worth more with it in better condition 😭
wow dude I am really proud of you for completing this epic journey of rare and expensive gamecube games you were so passionate for your collection that you ended up finding 2 of the holy gems of the gamecube!
can you imagine going up to someone and telling them you need to buy an expensive ass game but you need to buy their quality products at a cheap price and then flip those quality items and use that money to buy the expensive game you want...😂😂😂 Jesus, You balls you have. holy shit.
This made me feel all kinda warm and fuzzy. Y’all are good people.
Tony seems like a great guy who is fun to hang out with
The seller? Bro he seemed dead inside hah
I have a picture from 2019 at CM Games (game store in Lexington that you got Gotcha Force at) with Pokemon Box for $375, Cubivore for $350, and Gotcha Force for $325. At the time, those prices were above retail but now I wish I got them and held them for a couple years! :(
I remember seeing Cubivore, Chibi Robo, and Pokemon box for $10 at the game store at the mall.
I bought Spyro Enter the Dragonfly...
Literally the best video i watched this year! Keep it up Caleb!
That's crazy. In Australia I just picked one up loose for $60 on ebay. Definitely doesn't have the same value over here.
Yeah they sell for like £80 here in the uk 😂
Pokemon colosseum + pokemon box bundle sells for like 120 euros. Compared to NTSC price its nothing
If I ever get into Pokemon again my goal is to learn Spanish or Japanese first, those versions are DIRT cheap compared to NA English versions lmao
I’ve been waiting a couple weeks for you to find Ribbit King because I recently found it with no manual for $120 at my local pawn shop. It’s so cool that you got yours from Editor Riff though, amazing moment!
Editor the real goat. I didn’t like the seller of Pokémon box seems sketchy af. Happy it turned out well ;)
What a wholesome ending to the video I’m gonna miss the GameCube gambit when you complete the list
Things4yougaming
The GameCube was the first system I bought new! I ended up selling the system after I got a Wii because I didn’t think I needed it but the box has been stored all this time so at some point I’ll get another one and make it complete again, it was the Mario party 7 edition with 2 controllers, the box is worth over $100 😂
Compliments where compliments are due - You were looking super fly in the explanation cutaway JHEEZE!
If the guy wanted full price he should have sold it online. People go to places like that to get some deals.
Geeez, I think Riff is my new favorite person. Period. You have a gem of a buddy in him Caleb!
You were acting a bit too desperate for the game, Im pretty sure he took advantage of that.
So glad you used Dearly Beloved as the ending song for this series...Phoenix Resale's GameCube Gambit adventure can finally rest.....for now.
Props to that vendor for sticking to his price when he could’ve said eff it due to being in the video and cut him some slack
The look on the seller face when he realized that you got the full $1600. I bet he really was hoping you wouldn't get the full money
Get me all teary eyed Caleb and Riff. Damn this was a good episode
kinda shitty asking people straight up for discount for your profit. if you can't afford the item maybe don't purchase.
I got so emotional during the video ! GZ dude !
You can tell it hurt dude to sell that game. Even full price it looked like he wanted to turn it down.
Nah. As a vendor you never bring inventory unless you’re ready to move it. It’s a waste of space and time otherwise. Plus he’s obviously a collector too. Now he gets the fun of searching for the another copy. It’s an endless cycle!
@@CommonScentsAintSoCommonNow nah man I disagree he looked conflicted
@@maartenn2217 some items are harder to part with than others. Definitely agree with his reaction. The reality is he brought that there with the intention of selling. He priced it at FMV with the intention of selling. He has his reasons but you don't bring an item into your booth unless you're willing to part with it for the right price. And good for him for standing his ground. I'm sure he'll find it in the wild again some day.
Congrats on Pokemon Box!!! That was crazy what you had to go threw to get that game but like you said its all about the journey.
The craziest part is I haven’t finished this video yet but I’m 90% sure he buys that Pokémon box cause they had it at their booth at frank n sons for awhile and now it’s gone 😱
Glad the seller didn't make it easy. Love the difficulty of the gamecube gambit. You should make a second season for 3ds games or switch
lol you know you get 10x the value on whatnot I saw you sell a $10 ps2 game for $108 once. or maybe it was rick. None of us can sell on whatnot since its locked to creators with a big following
Caleb, idk what it is - Maybe it's Riff's magic touch...but these last few videos have been the greatest I've seen on the channel since I subbed a year ago. And I also hate you both because yall put a knot in my throat over that wholesome friendship.
In all seriousness, I deeply hope once GCG is over that you dive into another video game collection.
this might be the biggest soy channel i have seen to date
Most people that use soy are soy themselves but I agree this time
Never seen your channel before but proud you got more of what you need to complete your collection
These are my videos to watch during my lunch time. Keep them coming.
As a baby reseller I've learned a
ALOT of lessons along the way so far. I'm sure many more to go! Phoenix Resale! Thank you so much!
So happy for you. It's quite the journey, and it's so cool you made a lot of great memories and also a lot of good friends on it.
Honestly love the videos with you and Riff together
I freaking love you and editor Riff! Two amazing, respectful, and kind men! So happy you finally got a copy of Pokémon Box for the collection!
I don't understand it, Pokemon BOX is in the USA 1400 dollars, here in The Netherlands it's like 50 euro's?
What's the difference? Just NTSC / PAL difference?
Bro im gonna fuckin cry. That rabbit king gift was SO WHOLESOME on both fronts
Wow that ending. I never realized even Rabbit King was that rare?! I loved that game as a kid and I still own it. I have so many GameCube games just waiting around.
aweee RIFF IS THE BEST!!!!! Congrats Caleb!!!! Great video as always!!!!
Damn W editor Riff that shit was emotional.
omg you were at So Cal Retro Gaming Expo, I remember seeing you buying Pokemon Box, I really enjoyed watching your videos
Such an epic video from beginning to end!
You absolutely have to continue the Gamecube Gambit by going for a complete set man!
riffs in person sound effects are just as great as his edited ones!
Your California trip seemed like so much fun! Must be nice to meet others that do the same exact stuff you do!
Out of curiosity, since you sold the collection later, how much did you get for Pokemon Box?
Refreshing to hear a 1600 game tossed in place of a gifted treasure. Too many people getting into video games for the money rather than why we started playing them in the first place, to have some good memories with friends!
You do know this guy is in it for the money. Nothing else. Lol look at his name phoenix resale
Even Tony was like “whoa....” Great find! 😁 And then Riff with the Ribbit King! Let’s Goooo.
