If you read the book 0n german tanks by george forty from the tank museum he states at the end that he went to belgium and looked down from a hill into the valley below which was littered with dozens of destroyed shermans. he said it was a regiment. The culprit was a single jagdtiger at the top of the slope in trees. The crew had run out of shells and then destroyed it. That was the power of the vehicle. Also its not a tank its a tank destroyer..
Oh absolutely. The Jagdtiger is my favourite tank, but damn, they really didn't need it to carry the 128. A stupidly large gun imo. Some Jagdtigers were armed with 88mm guns, but no one really knows what happened to them, or if they even left the factory.
Like most new tanks or SPG's all suffered from teething problems regardless of nation during WW2. If you take Jagdtiger as it is with all issues sorted and used as intended as a rear line defensive weapon, it devastatingly good.
yeah i don't know why he would call iit bad tank , it was brilliant tank , every new technology has its issues in the beggining, its issues were nothing more than that.
@@ilovecontroller8232 The issues and limitations it had were seen in the Jagdpanther, and the Jagdtiger did nothing to alleviate them. The Jagdpanther already had the range and power to pen anything it needed to at ranges you'd almost never need to. It was ultra tough front on as it needed to be, and had decent mobility. But it still had many logistical and a fair amount of reliability issues, as well as many losses to mobility kills. The Jagdtiger improved what didn't need to be improved and worsened what they couldn't afford to worsen about the Jagdpanther. It was functionally a broken vehicle from the start.
It would have been a good idea 💡 if the Germans were winning the war. Since it was towards the end of the war and the Germans were losing, it was a bad idea. It consumed too much of dwindling resources, broke down too much, took too long to assemble and get onto the field, not enough spare parts when it broke down and the crews were poorly trained on how to operate it.
Yeah, if Germany was winning, the super heavy tank destroyer could be like a luxury project for them to tinker with to work all the problem areas out assuming they would not need it right away as something to plan their battle strategy around, That's like a football team that has a roster of proven players and a winning record could afford to experiment trying to use a player that weighs 350 pounds as a running back with the idea they could use him like battering ram against other teams, and try using him on a few plays during their games since they were always way ahead on points all the time and it didn't matter if the idea did not work out as planned
A complete logistical waste. Looks great. Impressive on paper/in a computer game. Completely impractical on a real battlefield. The hetzer makes far more sense. It at least was produced in an otherwise idle factory. This? A ww2 era codpiece.
So did even the Jagdpanther, for which Germany struggled to find factories that could produce enough units while at they same time they were working on this bs.
Not really. It offers no firepower upgrade at all, the long 88 was already overkill. The tank would've been extremely slow, probably would break down often, carried less ammo, took longer to reload, and exposed to flanking plus air attacks.
Yes. It's a Tank Destoyer. Not a tank. Intresting that in American doctrine tank destroyers were to be made light & fast. Some had no roof on the turret. Germany was the opposite. Some had more armor than the Tiger 2.
So Jagdtiger and Jagdpanther were aiming its gun with driving it because their gun couldn't move and follow the target but had to wait for a target to drive into center of aim.
when resources were being stretched to breaking point in Germany , Hitler's bigger is better , " let's build YET ANOTHER over engineered (super) weapon ,that takes serious time to build , and train the crew on " was just another nail in the 1000 year Reich coffin
They'd have been better off thinking: what can we do to motorise this gun and; operate it comfortably - give them all protection from shell fragments and small arms. - have 15 horses per ton. A waffentrager with a Panzer IV (maybe even a Panzer III) chassis would do the trick. A gun that heavy needs motorisation otherwise it will be lost. Then again. what was wrong with the L71 88mm gun? Why did they even need the PAK 44?
It’s not called hunting tiger how ever said that was an not that intelligence with going to translate but it wasn’t you because I hear that pronunciation not first by you. Hunting means jagen in German Jagd means Hunt it’s called Hunt-Tiger because the tank was not hunting on its own it’s something that he is right now doing how I understand English i am German i am not sure I guess it’s sounds better to call the tank Hunting tiger instead of Hunt tiger
when you hear someone shout "Jagd" or "Tiger" tanks you know your time is up xD. but yea german tanks can still shred other tanks like wet tissues tho, truly terrifying, absolute beasts in the battlefield
Basically, a mobile self propelled, tank destroyer bunker.

Can hear you fapping over there, Col. Klink, settle down.
I think its a waste when they already had the Jagdpanther with an 88mm.

Tank museum ..Bovington...its amazing
I agree Richard, my favourite place.

The Germans had brilliant tank designs 👍🏻
They did have very, very innovating vehicles
If Jagdpanzer E100 was built, results could have been different

Best Defense tank with the. experience crews. The Sherman advance units 1st encounter the Jagdtiger in Ardenne blew away them.
Great video mate, very informative!
Thanks so much for your nice comment! :) Thanks again!
Panzerjäger Tiger Ausf. B, technically a Tank Destroyer ?

Mr. Pete Channel needs 800 subbies! In German, it’s called “Jagdpanzer” which means “hunting tank”.
@@samanli-tw3id my mistake

No it was able to turn 10 degrees either way
Just think of it like the modern swedish strv mbt.

Beautiful beast! If only Germans managed to fix all the flaws....
ikr

Isn't it kinda unnecessary to have unpenetrabale armor when your gun outranges any gun the enemy can bring anyways.
Not a tank...
most people looking at that " vehicle" , and without military knowledge , would classify it as such
It is not a tank….the end.
so was it good?
Good? It's the most powerful tank of the war. Or is it ths Soviet KV-2?

Beans
Jagdtiger is not a tank chum
not true
Nah the Pennsylvania could easily penetrate its frontal armor
Like most German tanks very underpowered 😮
