    Thank you for helping me get my door unlocked. It was 11pm on Friday the 13th and I was leaving work and it wouldn't unlock. I used a slim Jim to push down and pull on that cable extending down from the interior door handle

    Nice video once again with great results..
    I'm not really a train type of person but wouldn't have any objections to you showing train related things on this channel - if I don't like the content I just won't watch but that doesn't mean I would leave your channel...there's plenty of other good and interesting things that you put on here to keep me interested...
    Choice is yours though.... keep up the good work

    I think thats the lock security shield to protect the lock from being able to be forced int it.reasonable access compared to some cars tho want there.i do like my jags.

    I have just subbed your railway channel👍🏻 I didn’t know you had another channel mate, as for this channel you do what you feel happy with it’s your Chanel at the end of the day.

    Great video, now I feel confident to do it by myself.

    Thanks for the video.. I think you should keep your video content separate. I know I like to watch the restoration, engineering kind of videos on this channel, although i have been for a look at the rail ones too.
    Whatever you decide, keep up the great video's :)

    I had a similar more Uncool failure on my Mondeo MK3 with an faulty Microswitch on the Driverside Door which didnt sensing as the Locked Position. So i cant Lock my Car no matter what i try. If i lock with my Remote it goes straight back to open it again. If i put the Key in and Locked it the Central Locking Module also become confused and put it always back to the Open Switch after a few Seconds. So i was not able to Lock my Car for almost 2 Weeks and hope for the best so nobody want to Pull on a Doorhandle of an 2005 Mondeo MK3 Wagon. And Luckily nobody does. Greets from Germany.

      Great stuff. Bloody cars. Am guessing your Mondeo had very similar lock to this? We all sorted now tho.

      @@NorfolkMancave I heard the Jaguar X-Type and the Mondeo MK3 are based on the same Ford Genetic (Chassis and Electrics)

      Hi. Did you change lock or just microswitch?

    I just did this on grannies old jag my daughter inherited - go no money - just a little bending of the operating rod from the handle. It’s made with a bend that apparently over time tweaked just enough. A little straightening- done… No new parts yet.
    But now what I’m looking for is where the door closed sensor is?

    Like the video, l would have electrically tested the the new unit with the existing car wiring and my be the old unit just needed oil, because it looks very basic. But l appreciate your video and l can go about it, knowing all the screw and clips and tricks👍

    Don’t know where you got that part for £10 from but you definitely got lucky as they are on eBay for £50-100!

    How to change the micro switch on drivers side lock

  • @lifeasrob1757
    @lifeasrob1757 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hey gentlemen. We just change the actuator on the passenger side door and now the locks seem to function properly except that the remote won’t lock the car. It just makes the car beep when we push the lock button. Do we need to reprogram the remote or watt?

    • @NorfolkMancave
      @NorfolkMancave  ปีที่แล้ว

      If you get a fast double beeb when you push button it means the car still thinks a door is open or half latched. Did you connect everything up 100%. If so the new latch could be faulty as it has a switch inside for interior lights and to tell the car if it's latched. Hope this helps.

    Thanks for this. I need to tackle my X types rear passenger side door which won't open. Managed to remove door card but is extremely cramped and dark in the back there. Considering how common these faults are and how many TH-cam videos are out there it's amazing there isn't one on this particular issue, rear doors not opening that is. Unless anyone knows to the contrary?

      Replying to my own message here, weird I know, but I took the car to a garage and after allegedly five hours of trying they failed to open it. So I took to the last resort and prised the lock apart using a stout flat head screwdriver. It split in two and what do you know the door opened! Ordered a secondhand unit on eBay which should be with me in a couple of days. Fingers crossed it should fit.

    Nice video thanks I have same problem.Can you confirm that you swopped across the original lock mechanism and no reprogramming was necessary,thanks.

    • @NorfolkMancave
      @NorfolkMancave  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No no reprogramming needed. I simply bought a used latch off ebay and swapped them over. No parts were taken from my original latch.
