For example along coastal Oregon has north winds a lot in summer, and southwest winds in winter. Also sone days the winds switch. I’m in a major danger zone. I ask God to help me make good decisions. There are times where I need divine help. So either I need to be in the blast zone, out of the area at the time of the attack, or divine help.
Mainer here. Curious to how bad a place Maine would be. It seems we have s low chance of being hit as far as targets go. But being in the north east the fall out would still reach us I’d imagine. Nice video
Fallout doesn't last forever though. Not being in a direct target area is great, so if you have a plan to be able to shelter safely for 2 weeks or so it might not be a bad spot at all
The lucky ones are those who are in the strike zone. Anyone in the fallout area is screwed. Hopefully the wind & water won’t blow the radioactive particles further…
Small correction. You stated no one has ever experienced nuclear bomb before. Can i mention Hiroshima and Nagasaki? I was gifted the opertunity to speak with 4 survivors of the bombs.
I'm in Jersey City, NJ. Right across the Hudson from NYC. Put it this way, I can see NYC from my top floor window. I'm under the assumption we would go POOF. Honestly, I'm not neat to ride out radiation. Just put me down like a rabid animal.
Unfortunately, I live in North Dakota right in the biggest city. Once I get my finances together for this, I'm going to move West to somewhere that I could build a sturdy house and a semi-underground greenhouse and root cellars and a nice bunker for all my friends and family. Just bought the nuclear war survival guide from NWSS (2022 version), and planning with that information.
Obviously being in Alaska would be the best bet. If you know how to live there. We’ve got plenty of remote areas out here far enough away from any military bases or cities. I guess the biggest threat would be an invasion, but I’m pretty much certain if you’re out in some of these very remote areas they would probably not even bother with you.

I dare say that unless you've already got a fallout shelter well outside of any potential blast zone, complete with everything you might need to survive TEOTWAWKI (including a community of like minded and prepped friends), it is probably too late to do anything about it in the current scenario.
I disagree, I priced construction materials for a pretty decent 4x8x4 sized fallout shelter that will give approx 3.5 levels of gamma halving using concrete blocks from home depot, if you can build it yourself it wouldn't even cost $1000 and could be easily constructed in 2 days. Of course it depends where you are. On the 2015 DoE fallout map my area is projected to get .01-.1 sv of fallout/hr. A 3.5 halving shelter would easily protect you from that level of fallout.
This business of trying to rationalize the probability of a nuclear war bothers me. Many times states go to war for non-rational reasons like national pride, irrational fears, etc... The Russians have sustained two horrific invasions (1812 and 1941) so it's no wonder they're so worked up about the situation in Ukraine. For our part, why are we fooling around in Ukraine at all? Whatever the reason, it has nothing to do with U.S. national interests (i.e. it's non-rational). The current situation is very dangerous and will result in a nuclear war if one side or the other doesn't take steps to calm things down.
The U.S. is at fault for this war. In 2014 the Obama administration, through Victoria Nuland at the State Dept., kept pushing Ukraine toward NATO. Russia said over and over again it would not tolerate this (for the same reasons President Kennedy told Khrushchev we wouldn't tolerate his missiles in Cuba!), but we kept poking the bear in the eye and now we are at war with Russia. The U.S. has biolabs in Ukraine. I wonder what else we have over there. And this doesn't take into count the dirt Ukraine has on Joe Biden. The U.S. money going to Ukraine is bribery money.
Alabama wouldn't be good for nuclear. The largest helicopter base on earth one of the largest ports and lots of military infrastructure. High population density so the aftermath would be lots of desperate people.
Detroit Yes! If you look at the fallout maps, you would need to shelter for at least a week for fallout in most parts of Michigan. The UP is spared by any targets but would get fall-out winds. If you shelter in place in the UP or even the upper part of the thumb (The Mitten).. it's realistic. Depending on where you are at in Michigan you need to worry about people as much as you need to worry about strikes or fallout. Be ready to defend yourself.
Where I live I have to get out at the first realistic sign that things are going to go bad. Which I have already done. The joys of remote working is that relocation is very easy.
An EMP has hit the US in the past! In 1859 Sept. 2 at 11:18 AM. An EMP caused by a storm reaped havoc on the telegraph lines and Tech. of that period. An EMP can be caused by a Solar Flare on the Sun.
I have a question. Let me describe my, our situation 1st...We live about 18 miles northeast of Minneapolis-St.Paul. I'm assuming we aren't on top of the target list. But if the 1st nuclear exchanges happen in Europe we have time to get to the cabin 90 mins away north before any EMP would effect us. There are 6 cabins on a lake that is 50 miles from any city with even 10,000 people. And 10 miles from the nearest small town of about 1000. Very hidden. 1 road in, 1 road out. Easy to defend from straglers. We are all avid hunters and fisherman. With a few things, like vitamins and seeds fir planting we could last independently for a long, long time. A few of the cabin owners have had conversations about this. I plan on getting the rest on board at our association spring meeting. If everybody is on board with some minimal prepping we could sustain 25-30 of us. How long would you stay put before heading out for information??
those states have (or at least had) a bunch of the ballistic missile silos though, so if they are still operational they would definitely be targets. Obviously large areas are very rural and would be good though.
Oregon really isn’t safe due to the Hanford Site. Almost all of Oregon is downwind and also the Columbia River would contaminate everything in its drain field which is multiple states and would contaminate coasts from California to Alaska
Considering the earth spins eastward @ 1000 MPH, I say the western section on America would be a terrible place to be.... I'll go with Maine or up in Canada.
Three officers on a submarine. What caused the problem was an idiot U.S. naval officer dropping war game depth charges on a Russian submarine during the Cuban missile crisis. At the time it took agreement among all three Russian officers to fire nuclear weapons. One of those Russian officers is what saved the world that time. As far as the power of the current missiles, we don't have to worry about living through anything if it is all out war between the U.S. and Russia. It is a joke to think anyone in any country will survive an all out war happening..
Nuclear winter. If you have a bunker with HEPA filtered ventilation, you can prep for the fallout. However, in the event of all out exchange, nuclear winter can last from 1-20 years (many different predictions). Your food and possibly water supply needs to be 10-20 years deep. You have to be prepared for sub zero temperatures for 5-20 years. Expect the worst..extinction of most animal and plant life. Don't plan on farming unless you have a greenhouse. You have to be completely self sufficient, you own power, water, food, guns, ammo, medical, etc. This level of preparation is beyond 99% of the population.
It is mostly understood now that the Nuclear Winter hypothesis is a myth. That is not to say that all out nuclear war wouldn't be literally apocalyptic, but i do not believe that nuclear winter would happen.
@@TheLordHumungus The first big study came out in 1983, and there have been studies since. I've heard estimates from1-20 years. Northern Nevada might allow you to survive initially, but then you will freeze to death with nuclear winter. Southern TX or Florida if you want to survive long term. Hope the temperatures fall low enough to kill most of the deadly pests but not so low you can grow food.
You have to think of food.Nevada and northern Texas is a lot of desert. After a nuclear attack, food will be scarce and you can't grow food in the desert! And you can't you grow much in the cold NorthWest either, especially in a nuclear winter!
yeah obviously stockpiling prevents that, but the video is about at the time of the attack, not necessarily long term. Radiation wouldn't be much of an issue weeks or especially months later, so survivors could travel to locations better suited for long term survival

any military base or installation, or large city is a potential target. Hawaii is so small that any hits there would be bad. Most of Alaska would not be at risk I assume.

I currently live on the eastern seaboard and I cannot wait to move to Texas in June. The eastern seaboard is way too overcrowded and overpriced. At least when I move to Texas I’ll be somewhere more safe than the East Coast. Stay Safe💕💕💕
If you suffer from allergies then Texas is not for you. I live in NC, which is one of the worst places in the country for allergy sufferers. I will not go back to Texas unless God told me to or my life depended on it.

Former USAF here. There will be no limited nuclear war. Within 30 minutes all missles will launch. Use them or lose them
Russia has some 6,000 nuke warheads. There are not 6,000 important targets in America. Translation, Russia can still waste warheads on small towns.
@@jamespmullin21753 6,000?! Holy crap.
Not being in a direct target area is great, so if you have a plan to be able to shelter safely for 2 weeks or so it might not be a bad spot at all
Yep midcoast here , I said if I had time I'd book my ass somewhere safe or drive to mnt kahtadin ,or just try and get into a safe area.
The lucky ones are those who are in the strike zone. Anyone in the fallout area is screwed. Hopefully the wind & water won’t blow the radioactive particles further…
True nuclear war would not benefit anyone
I wonder if my homeowners insurance covers thermonuclear war?

Small correction. You stated no one has ever experienced nuclear bomb before. Can i mention Hiroshima and Nagasaki? I was gifted the opertunity to speak with 4 survivors of the bombs.
I'm in Jersey City, NJ. Right across the Hudson from NYC. Put it this way, I can see NYC from my top floor window. I'm under the assumption we would go POOF. Honestly, I'm not neat to ride out radiation. Just put me down like a rabid animal.
Winds change. Over time. And at different altitudes.
Likely targets have changed a lot over the decades.
Different warheads over the decades.
i like how a nuke would drop a block away from me, like the target zone is literally right where i live.
I live in the Midwest we have underground tunnels in our city. I’m planning on going there currently making out the “best” spots.
Huh? For what? Tunnels for what city?
@@bobchevallier8456 Tulsa, Oklahoma tunnels
Except that 90% of all food, fuel, medicines, tools, supplies… has to be shipped into Alaska.
Most of the radioactive nuclides from fallout decay after a few weeks, except Strontium-90 and Cesium-137

Nature and continental plates don’t give a crap about how much money or time u spent building your property! The latest edition of The National Enquirer listed likely targets for each state!
Yes, I am noticingg a trend. Every map had Wisconsin getting hit worse and worse lol. Dang it.

I would think russia would first launch an emp and then nuke our missle silos, then use the Poseidon to destroy the east coast.
I live in North Las Vegas, you just reinforced my plan to buy a house with some friends in North Nevada and have it as our bug out spot.
yeah I think its a legit plan. Real estate prices are probably going to crash soon. save up and keep your eyes open!
full out nuke war? wont matter where you are, if you survive you will wish you didn't
You say that now...
Is Ra El is the one that gets us into every single war!
Sand Mountain Alabama. Just east of Greenbow.
Alabama wouldn't be good for nuclear. The largest helicopter base on earth one of the largest ports and lots of military infrastructure. High population density so the aftermath would be lots of desperate people.

God damn Michigan is getting tore up in every likely targets 😩
Detroit Yes! If you look at the fallout maps, you would need to shelter for at least a week for fallout in most parts of Michigan. The UP is spared by any targets but would get fall-out winds. If you shelter in place in the UP or even the upper part of the thumb (The Mitten).. it's realistic. Depending on where you are at in Michigan you need to worry about people as much as you need to worry about strikes or fallout. Be ready to defend yourself.
If we get hit like these maps show there is one thing to do, kiss your family, and friends goodbye!!!
Where I live I have to get out at the first realistic sign that things are going to go bad. Which I have already done. The joys of remote working is that relocation is very easy.

I live in a small town ranked several times as the safest place to be in the lower 48 in the event of nuclear war.
"What's your plan if you're in a danger zone?"

No way to answer that without knowing the exact situation. Make sure you have some radios and you can try to get some info that way.
At least if you are in a big city, you could go deep into the subway tunnels or sewers
I remember my military training on this.
Nebraska, Colorado, Montana, South Dakota, North Dakota.
those states have (or at least had) a bunch of the ballistic missile silos though, so if they are still operational they would definitely be targets. Obviously large areas are very rural and would be good though.
Some of the targeting on those maps may need updating
probably

I've heard of a wide range of possible temperature declines, from a few degrees to -20 degrees in the northern hemisphere. People who are serious about trying to survive such a catastrophe must assume the worst possible scenario. Personally, I think that the harshness of the post war conditions guarantees that most of humanity will not survive. I have not heard of any creditable source that refutes the Nuclear Winter.
Russia wants Alaska and part of California now.
My partner was an English. lol. Dunno if your related. So it seems like Oregon, northern CA and northern Nevada are safe zones. But what about Maine?
I was really hoping to leave St. Louis, and head straight north into Northern Minnesota. But all those damn missle silos in North Dakota!!!! They create a big nasty plume all over my bug-out route.
Just make it across the river and a little north not too far, alot of small communities preparing
Central Oregon looks pretty good.
It does no good in the event of nuclear war. Traffic will be too bad to drive to those states and there will be not enough housing or food for the extra people. Lawlessness will rule the land.

Northern Nevada might allow you to survive initially, but then you will freeze to death with nuclear winter. Southern TX or Florida if you want to survive long term. Hope the temperatures fall low enough to kill most of the deadly pests but not so low you can grow food.
Why southern texas just curious
You have to think of food.Nevada and northern Texas is a lot of desert. After a nuclear attack, food will be scarce and you can't grow food in the desert! And you can't you grow much in the cold NorthWest either, especially in a nuclear winter!
yeah obviously stockpiling prevents that, but the video is about at the time of the attack, not necessarily long term.
Radiation wouldn't be much of an issue weeks or especially months later, so survivors could travel to locations better suited for long term survival
He didn't address nuclear winter. Isn't that at least a 2 year freeze and darkness?

any military base or installation, or large city is a potential target. Hawaii is so small that any hits there would be bad. Most of Alaska would not be at risk I assume.
