    Good thing going on here. Ford has laid a foundation that other manufacturers will build & improve on. When they do, they will make all the noise of how their system is much better than Ford's. They wouldn't tell you that without Ford they wouldn't have a clue where to start from or what to do, it's an irony but it is what it is, someone has to blaze the trail. Kudos to Ford .

    Honestly if Ford listened the charging port would of been relocated back to the old fill port position or on the rear quarter panel like the ID Buzz. So 230 mile range, so call it 200 because I don't trust PR, then shave 25% off for a full load and 25% in the winter it's 100 miles, that might actually get me through a day.
    I am still reluctant to swap everyone to something they'd have to park nose in over night to charge with tool theft being such an issue in the UK (hopefully security is upgraded and the work around isn't on the net within 2 weeks of launch like last time).
    The sad thing is we fit EV chargers and this has been an ongoing issue with EV's having ports on the front when it's against the highway code to reverse out onto a main road from a side road (driveway).
    Other than the obvious down sides not realised by the design team it's a lovely looking van and everyone in the company is looking forward to a test drive.

    Perovskites from the Polish company Mrs. "Olga Malinkiewicz" achieved 31% efficiency. Why don't you cover our van's paint with perovskite foil to increase the road range by 180%?

    The only good news is that they finally decided to build a decent PHEV Custom van. The previous one, with 1 liter engine limited to 120 km/h speed was a joke. The bad news is that only the Custom version gets this PHEV, the regular Transit still lacks a decent-range zero-emission-capable option. The other bad news is that ID Buzz has bigger battery and faster charging compared with the eTransit Custom. And don't even get me started on the electrified AWD options, or lack of them, even on the Kuga PHEV ''SUV".

    While I was looking forward to an electric version, I am sad that they did not just refit the current Transit Custom: redesign mechanically from ground up, but maintain the outer look and practical aspects. This one looks too bulky - the current one is sharp and dynamic. And cabin wise, I actually feel this is a step back from the current model.
    I never hit my legs on the wheel or had issues moving from left to right. I hit my kneecaps on the steering column adjustment mechanism. It sticks out sharply and I either set steering wheel and seat for good driving conditions (in which case I often hit the knee caps when going quickly in) or set them to avoid this. Not a fan of squared wheels. But maybe one gets used to them.
    I loved the many trays below the windshield. You could easily park stuff briefly and things would not slide away. Now everything is rounded off and stuff will slide down as in passenger cars.
    the current Custom has these wonderful bottle holders at knee height, which hold "spare bottles" or even larger diameters, such as thermos bottles. I can see that these are gone. With the physical handbrake gone, I would hope that the space between the two seats is used cleverly. Probably not ... ?
    some have survived, but temperature seems now on screen / touch? Arghhhh. It is the one thing you have to adjust frequently as you go from cloudy, to sunny, to rainy (moist air). I seriously hate touch screens in cars for anything but maps / GPS. Also not sure about moving the "gear shift" to a flimsy lever behind the wheel, even though you only need it when switching from back to forward. But in these scenarios you frequently have to navigate round tight spots and go back-forth-back-forth-back-forth.
    - I hope it works because currently, Ford's "smart software" is my only nightmare of using the Transit Custom. It crashes almost every time I plug in the phone for the first time that day or connect it via BlueTooth. If the first thing I do is going backwards then the system freezes for sure when it switches from rear camera to touch screen. But it also has the habit to freeze after 30 seconds of going by directions or playing music. Always have to reset it manually and you loose 1 minute of navigation, which is super irritating in unknown parts. With the increased focus on gadgets, I see dark.
    It is sad that the shift to clean electric comes with so many fancy designer changes: this is meant to be a simple, robust car. Nobody would equip power drills and other heavy machinery with touch screens. All this fancy stuff adds cost, will most likely malfunction and is just sooooo irritating to use.
    Will hold on to my Diesel for a while longer than ... maybe somebody introduces an e-reconfiguration-kit for the current Transit Custom. That would be lovely.

    Why don’t Ford bring out an affordable electric car and leave the cargo side to tdi I can’t wait to get an electric daily car

  • @zoltrix7779
    @zoltrix7779 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    This is look great. HOWEVER. Please no square steering wheels!!! A steering wheel is supposed to slip through your hands when exiting a corner. Speak to any reviewer, the all hate square and flat bottomed wheels for the same reason. This isn't a race car where you only ever hold the wheel at each side.
    The column gear selector is great. Your rotary knob thing that you have been using lately is terrible.
    Please tell me the seating position has been fixed over the previous Transit Custom (and Transit for that matter), which seriously had a horrible seating position. Seat cusion bottom was way too short and the seat too high.... and the worst part, having to lift your foot to reach the brake pedal because it was so high compared to the accelerator. Looks like the drivers seat still sits on some steel box that used to hold the 12v battery. A little cargo space may have needed to have been sacrificed to acheive this, but it would be worth it. I hope the re-design has fixed this issue.
    Why the park brake button? Surely when you press "park" that means the park brake needs to be on, and when select "drive" it needs to be off? Wy complicate things? Tesla and Polestar have done away with this control.
    Hope the combustion versions are also RWD.
    Still want the tailgate option also. Are the integrated pop up roof racks still a thing? One of fav features.
    I am giving you an instant fail for not having rotary physical temperature controls, however, have noticed a real volume knob. Hope there is still a centre screen off button.
    No frunk even though its a RWD EV?
    2.3kW power is okay, nothing special.
    120kW DCFC is on the weak side nowadays. I would expect at least 150kW or even more.

    • @GregsMowing
      @GregsMowing ปีที่แล้ว

      Been driving new transits and customs for 6 years never had issues with the seat but could always be improved but I definitely agree the brake pedeal is too high and I have no idea why.
      The current transit display of dials for heating etc is great. Being in the screen in these new things isn’t great as you said.

    Hope your new electric van won't be as bad as European 2.0 litre diesel Ford engines. Unsolved and same problems for nearly 7 years: broken engines at low mileage, low quality injectors and components and huge service intervals. It's a shame you can't solve those big problems but you are talking about electric vehicles and quality.
