Sure some people can be deadly with karate or TKD but that heavily depends on their own physical attributes and even then the skill level of the opponent matters. A TKD black belt can fuq up a normal guy with minimal experience but theyll have a hard time against someone with MT cause they have no idea about clinching or punches..

You could try to make multiple levels of preparation for the different levels of danger, imma give an example: Levels: 1) study the entire area you live in. Know which areas have gangs and mark it on a map, which areas have a lot of accidents, or a lot of crimes, etc etc... you make the entire map or you can pay a few different people to help make it and you can then know which areas to avoid and which areas are safer. You can also do the same when you go travel outside, you study which paths are safer and then make an entire map for the destiny you want to go towards. 2) now you have a danger map, but you can make an escape plans map by studying the structures of the map. To make it easier you can make 3 or 4 paths you think you are safe to go during your everyday life, then you can see all the spots, nooks, and crannies you can use to escape in any given situation. This way you can avoid getting cornered in case you do get into a dangerous situation. 3) practice the escapes, and become better at them, time yourself and change your escape map according to if you think the escapes are helpful and realistic enough to your current escape level that you tested by practicing. 4) get equipment that protects you in case you get in a dangerous situation that you can't escape. Body armor, a speaker that repeats a message like "HELP ME! HELP ME! SOMEONE ATTACKING ME!" very loud (just in case you have no pride and are willing to be embarrassed to be sure you live 💀), getting a gun, or any other weapon that you can use from a distance (bonus points if it also has some functionality even if they come close.). 5) practicing how to use your equipment so that you can see by yourself which ones seem to be the most effective and realistic. You can also update your map based on if the locations are good or bad for your use of weapons. 6) practice actual unarmed defense and martial arts for when someone gets close and you have no way to use the previous 5. You can also update your maps so you have an idea of which are the better areas for the style of martial arts you thinking of using. For example, karate is a lot focused on attacking what's in front of you, so if you practice karate, an alley is probably better than an open area where someone can attack you from the sides. For judo, a place with a concrete floor is probably better than the beach considering you probably want to break the enemy before he breaks you. 7) combine all the previous and create new innovative ways of dealing with different situations. For example: If you are running from a bunch of people but want to get rid of them for some reason: You can towards a narrow place so you can deal with 1 at a time, and then continue running when the other slower guys start catching up to the faster MFers. Or you can use 1 or 2 smelly bombs on the alley and then go almost toward the end of the alley before dealing with them. That they have to deal with the smell while you can breathe a lil better and can escape if a lot of them start getting close. Well, the most important is to plan ahead and practical test to improve your chances.

@@nemkela yeah one prioritises speed and precision while the other prioritises power. Kyokushin also does leg kicks with shin BTW. Its good to know how to throw many types of kicks. Just look at Lyoto Machida, Israel Adesanya and Stephen Thompson. They know how to mix and disguise their kicks by integrating muay thai and karate. Be fluid and learn more than one martial art and adapt according to situation. Karate trains calf kicks as well if I'm not mistaken

Alot of taekwondo dojangs I trained at all taught various disciplines of bo staff, nunchaku, kama, and swordfighting. Personally I had the impression from WTF/ITF TKD that karate didn't use a whole lot of weapons. Love to see it.
